NO STOPPING MIGHTY MOUSSA

MOUSSA DEMBELE’S love affair with the Betfred League Cup continued when he netted Celtic’s second goal with a penalty-kick in the 2-0 triumph over Motherwell.

The French striker has now played in six ties in the competition – and scored in every one.

Dembele started as he meant to go on in August last year when he claimed two – one from the spot – in the Hoops’ 5-0 win over Motherwell on August 10 last year.

He also lashed in the killer second goal as the Hoops overcame plucky Alloa 2-0 at Parkhead on September 21.

Just over a month later, the hitman rattled in the late winner against Rangers in a 1-0 victory in the semi-final at Hampden.

Dembele returned to the national stadium on November 27 and rolled in a penalty-kick past Joe Lewis as Brendan Rodgers’ men lifted the 100th trophy in their history with a 3-0 Final success over Aberdeen.

The bargain £500,000 Development Fee purchase from Fulham kept the running going in this season’s semi-final against Hibs.

He came on as a 61st-minute substitute for Leigh Griffiths and tucked two behind keeper Ross Laidlaw in the holders’ dramatic 4-2 victory.

And he maintained his 100 per cent record with his unerring spot-kick past Well keeper Trevor Carson at Hampden yesterday as the champions stretched their incredible unbeaten domestic sequence to 65 games.
