Our α and Ω

422

I’m getting beside myself with annoyance at the emergence of blog and online distractions ahead of the most important game of the season.  Darling-Salmond do not get my heart pounding, Henrik Larsson’s summer conversation with Celtic (he was asked if he was interested, he said he’s not ready, nothing more than that), and despite the need to sign players, they would be pointless if we don’t win tonight.

This is our Cup Final, our biggest game of the season by some margin.  This game determines what pace our development project proceeds at, what players we can attract and who we can afford.  For the season ahead, this is our α and Ω.

For the players, it is a joy.  A gift.  This is their chance to perform a task they are more than capable of in front of an appreciative crowd.  For Ronny and Johnny, it is their first stake in the ground.

Don’t assume it will be straightforward. It could be a long night, we may lose the first goal, but it takes a brave team to leave Celtic Park with the spoils on a European night. We have to remain patient early on; Maribor will tire as the game progresses. The final 15 minutes should be Celtic’s most productive.

Enjoy the game.

    Great post.

I’m sitting here at work, trying to calm the jets until 5pm.

But you’ve cranked up the excitement into overload.

Enjoy the game .. 2-0 to the hoops.

    Tom,

He’ll be knackered before you get there!!! :)

  13. Good luck to the Hoops tonight. Plenty of singing, chaps – stick with them and hopefully we’ll get through. It might not all go 100% according to plan but Maribor surely can’t defeat 60,000 off-field Tims and our representatives on the park? Here’s hoping.

  14. Outside chance. Anyone know if there’s Celtic friendly pub in Malahide, showing the game and maybe a pub doing food just now?

    Thanks

  15. Passing the Blane Valley earlier today and having read so much about it on CQN, I decided to pop in for a light lunch and a drink.

The soup was delicious. Magners was cold and sparkly. Service was good.

The few customers that were there looked a wee bit too relaxed to be CQNers only hours before the game.

As you might expect — I disagree.

If we don’t win this in the first half then we are toast.

You say it is a big game then I agree.

Just a case our preparation — tactical and strategic has been poor.

I applaud RD for making a number of hard choices and making the money go far.

I hold DD and PL to account for making it so difficult for him.

    I fear the 2 – 2 draw.

They are not good but we are under cooked.

Prove me wrong at 4.35 local time.

Not the best sleep ahead for me.

I just realised I am 4th bottom out of about 3000 in the fantasy football league.

Who the hell can I blame on that!?

Unthinkable that a 32 goal scoring midfielder finds himself the odd man out. but the system seems to dictate he is, but he’ll be back in differing games maybe even tonight, – who knows As for the future I’d keep Commons, with a new contract.

    Kittoch

He’s better with Kayal in there beside him, and it worked o.k. in Slovenia. Charlie’s problem may be that he’s too versatile.

Hi Ghuys, Salve salve;- best wishes for Ronny’s bhoys tonight, missed the last game, there is no reason the Tic can’t prevail. Off to tie a couple of flies, fishing on Saturday. Got 2 bottles of 16 yo Scapa for £55 : 0 hope to have some to celebrate tonight.

  20. For those outside the Scotland, there are several ways to get live streaming of TV shows. I am currently using Nobordertv. It’s basically a proxy service that masks your ip address allowing you to watch tv from any station worldwide. It’s a free service and is pretty reliable if you have a decent internet speed.

Gibneys is a sports friendly bar, can’t imagine they won’t be showing the game. They do food as well.

The pub directly across the road is the same. I’ve eaten in both.

That’s cheered me up no end. I didn’t think anyone could exist below me in that league but you proved me wrong. I’m still wondering in hindsight why I thought picking Charlie Adam was a good thing.
