Panenka did more than a chip

202

13 days until Celtic are in preseason action on their tour of Austria against locals, SK Vorwarts Steyr.  We then face Bohemians or Prague, who the Celtic site tell us have Antonin Panenka as chairman, famous for the Panenka Chip to win the 1976 European Championships for Czechoslovakia against West Germany.

Panenka is less celebrated around these parts for being part of the infamous Rapid Vienna team Celtic faced in 1984.  No photos with Moussa, please.  We have two further games, against Sparta Prague, and Shamrock Rovers in Dublin, before our first Champions League qualification game.

Fair play to Newco for getting some money for the naming rights to what was previously called Murray Park.  Named after the Rangers owner who authorised the EBT schemes which ultimately led to the club’s liquidation, it must have been embarrassing to have Sir David Murray’s name associated with Newco’s training ground.

As a rule, I am up for things which bring money into a club.  Whether Hummel attach their mission statement, ‘We look for those who rarely win’ to the facility remains unclear.

what exactly are you proposing to swap?

your wife for his wife? but then who gets the dog?

or your wife for his dog? then you end up with one dog, and poor Jamesgang ends up with two wives! , and that doesn’t seem fair.

My advice is to get a cat, feed him, let him out on his own and usually he’ll bring me a burd back.?

Feck that having to walk a dog and pick up after it.

You know it makes sense. :)))))

I always wondered why blokes would take their dogs for a walk on their own!

I think there may be a term for it.?. HH

  5. Dugs have amazing pulling powers, the most beautiful woman that wouldn’t look at you for a nano second will talk to you for long enough if you have a dug, no many cats that can do that Sipsini, is there >:)

    and Jamesgang…

as your lawyer, I strongly urge you to not get involved in any discussions about your wife and/or dogs on here …

you know the old saying that anything you say may be used against you in a court of law … well, anything you say on CQN will be certainly used against you by a tougher, less impartial judge at home … as will anything your dopey friends on CQN say … and even if you dont say it, but you are thinking it, that’s just as bad….

as your lawyer, I suggest that you might just want to stop and pick up some flowers on the way home

    tonight!

    :)

  7. Sips is such a handsome bassa he carries a licence to thrill just for his smile!

    MIT,

From last night….no I don’t know any Menzies from Garve….I know H…from Dingwall, originally Brora, Sutherland, whose daughter is a music teacher. Funny, it’s a reasonably common name around south east Ross…pronounced Men..Zees, but my Mum, from the Western Isles, always pronounced it, Minghis. (Sp). Much to our embarrassment as kids!

Disappointed to hear Cumbernauld score tonight, losing the boy Lennon wouldn’t help, hopefully see you next season

So did my wee Hector ? wreak havoc today ?

I left my cupboard door open earlier, and the wee ? Has ate my Celtic Tammy Pom Pom

Bada – Huth has a decent reputation, but, never impressed, I heard we are interested / been scouting in a Croatian/Serb ?? Same name as last season ???

    Cheers for the compliments!

I’m away on Sunday for two weeks …but back start of July.

We need you to take a trip up here, or us to see you down there…either way works for us.

  14. Oh D17

    Amido Balde doesn’t count either

He was never a football player ,

Even though that ? Doc thought he had a big future ( must have been because he was 6’4″) ??

  15. Norrie

Doc is never 6’4’’ mate. Not even in his travolta platforms!!

PS one of the most forlorn sights I’ve seen at CP was Danny McGrain throwing the ball to Balde in the centre circle at half time and the latter trying to head it back to him!?

  16. Neustadt-Braw on

ps just off the phone with Miss Braw…she says thank you for the birthday wishes…

    thank you bhoys and ghirls

    As for the politics…

As you may know I have a healthy dislike of politicians of all angles.

I especially dislike the lying, dishonest ones.

Sorry, what I mean is the MOST lying and dishonest ones….and sometimes it’s hard to work out which ones they are.

Well, for me, starting with the baseline they are all, without exception, liars, I move onto: which are the most repugnant liars?

OK..answer to that for me is – the omes who promise the most weak an vulnerable in society that they are on their side.

Whe, obvoiusly, it’s just one big charade to make that paricular politician rich.

I couldn’t be bothered reading Ernie Lynch pn here after he ignored my questions about “Tory Bliar’s” earning in the years since he “retired” from British politics; or the seemingly endless list of Labour MPs turne into “Lords”.

Vomit. At least you know where you are with an honest, overbearing, Tory pickpocket.

    Was that a rant?

  18. Can’t handle the adds any more, my add block has decided to give up the ghost, sadly it’s not up to blocking the crap adds on here any more, adds that have nothing to do with my browsing history, it;s Bridgestone tyres just now that have taken over about 90% of the page, a fecking joke when the blog would be more than happy to weigh in to keep the blog going and get rid of the adds, if they are still there when I switch the computer on in the morning that’s it for me, my add block has worked for years but it’s working no more, shame but there you are.

  19. TET…

Aye the dugs will get you talking to the women, they will pat your dog and and be nice and quaint with you but when it comes to the kill, ye can’t beat a cat.

I kept that nice, just glad ACGR isn’t on tonight.;))))

  20. Just seen a Hun on Hun debate on Twitter re French Eddy…

Hun1: they’ve spent £9m on that french boy, so they’ve spent £9m to be the same team we faced last season

Hun2: thats great business for us

    OMG.

  21. Sipsini

I feed about 25 ferel and 8 domesticated cats every day, a fair mixture among them, some are as scared as it gets some are as friendly as it gets, a few killers as well, but not a single one, or even them all combined are a patch on one of my dugs when it comes to killing, I have tried to train it out of her to no avail, in saying all that, when you get up of a morning and the outside porch resembles a bird slaughterhouse :-)

    TET,

Much as I like cats and dogs, I believe the birdies have a more important role on the planet – not least germinating the plants and trees from the seeds they eat…..then acting as nature’s natural pesticide by eating the slugs and other pests that feed on the plants

Encouraged by our son, we now have a wild aviary in our garden …which is actually better crack to watch than the odd spoiled domestic prouling feline…When you’re having a coffee in the morn or dram in the evening.

(Awright, more sharn to clean off your car…but..)
