Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

866

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

The essence of Kolo is feelgood.

Reversals , such as last week ,are inevitable , but the trajectory at Celtic is upward.

    That`s the gauge which matters.

  9. According to Radio Shorty,

in the last 7 minutes or so that I listened in to the game….a Jags player was assaulted by a Hun fan who threw the ball in his face….Jag man threw it back at him and was promptly booked.

Was the Hun fan arrested for assault ?

Will the Huns be in bother cos of yet again the thug element of their support ?

    If not…….why not ?

Surprising that few people on here are aware of Marc Bolan given my assumed demographic of the posters.

Well known that Oasis ripped off the “Get it on ” riff for “Roll with it”. Then again, it’s only rock and roll and I like it.

    ———-

‘ get it on riff ‘ was used in ‘ ‘ cigarettes n alcohol ‘

    ………….

This is for BLANTYRE TIM and others,

I was a HUGE T REX fan and sadly since Marcs death I have read about him and watched docu about him that ended very sadly…not just when he was killed.

I saw T REX Twice in Glasgows old Greens Playhouse ( it became the Apollo) and the 1st time was BEFORE T Rex had released ” Get it On”….so it was the 1st time I had ever heard it ? ( 1971 ?)

IMO….”Get it On” was/is one of the best Rock and Roll songs ever written by ANYONE ?

Don’t forget Duran Duran and Robert Palmer ( RIP) did a great cover version under the name of ” The Power Station”.

I also loved Tyryannousaures Rex and I used to have ALL the albums of both bands.

Did I mention how my Dad drove T Rex from Glasgows Central Hotel to their 1st Glasgow Gig in his Taxi, and how his Taxi was almost wrecked by Girl T Rex fans ?

Did I mention how my Dad refused TWO FREE Tickets for their Gig in Edinburgh the following night from Marc and Mickey ?

Sadly around 1974 Marc and his music went downhill imo.

I stopped buying his records and the TV show that he had on late afternoons was simply awful, as I watched a GIANT of music go downhill fast ?

The PR for T Rex soon after “Hot Love” went to number 1…was as they put it ” TREXASTY”….WHta great live band…and Marc was a fantastic guitar player and showman.

Sadly it ended much too soon.

Not much point in employing stewards if they do eff all because they’re paid eff all.

Btw,stewards in pubs and clubs are paid much more, commensurate with their willingness to defend the premises and patrons.

I wouldn’t do it for minimum wage, for sure.

Or-more importantly-at all. Not worth it.

    …………………………

    Sorry mate for late reply,

In my younger days I worked as a Steward ( knock back man) in several pubs and clubs.

It had its perks above the low wages…..Making a ” Good Skin” when in charge of the Door……and having 100s of women coming oot of ma ears !

I only copied part of it…

This is the moment Rangers star Josh Windass hit back at Partick Thistle supporters with a rude gesture – after Jags fans refused to throw him the ball.

The Glasgow rivals played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Firhill this evening in a match littered with talking points.

Chris Erskine was red carded for the home side just minutes after firing them into a second half lead in just one of a number of flashpoints.

Windass’ sign to the home support as he waited on the ball to be returned so he could take a quick throw in was another. And the incident could land the Englishman in hot water.

Gers boss Pedro Caixinha reckons Thistle were lucky to end the match with 10 men on the pitch after Ryan Edwards went unpunished for a first half clash with Ryan Jack.

  16. last nights game in Maryhill was a mixture of feelings..

The Jags dropping 2 points to the Hun was very disappointing however…… I perked up when my bet with the Bookies came up …correct score 2-2 @ 16/1…£2 on.

However, Jack is being taken off…and on comes Pena.

Whilst appearing to Bless himself twice, he appears to try and not make it too obvious to the Hun support by wiping his nose also ?

Has he been told NOT to Bless himself and is trying to do it a sneaky manner…OR….is he some “user” of powder that some stick up their nose….OR BOTH ?
