Strathclyde Police were Rangers first creditor to ask for a payment guarantee from Rangers’ newly appointed administrator, saying, “Strathclyde Police is a public body and has a duty to make sure public resources are used appropriately. We are seeking an urgent meeting with the administrators to ensure that any payment for policing costs at future Rangers games is guaranteed.
“Until we have such a guarantee we would not be in a position to commit public resources to policing an event unless we had a reassurance that our costs would be met.”
Before the administrator is able to allow the scheduled game against Kilmarnock on Saturday to proceed he would need to guarantee payments for all services employed and goods used, casting considerable doubt on the game proceeding. The administrator is liable for any expenses he incurs from now which cannot be paid by the club.
Funds will need to be found for turnstile and security staff, while footballers may be asked to play for free.

Just back from the desert, and catching up with the days events that are moving apace. Happy to report that the news is being reported in detail on BBC World Service – beyond our environs this is a very major story.
However to keep it local, I’ve found a stream of Clyde1 and listening to SSB for the first time – what a great show! A chap called Gaudi seems to think liquidation is the end game, so he’s a percentile one. They also just reported a tweet that advised RFC staff may not be paid this month – well I guess that’s what happens.
One question – who’ll cut the grass? The 14 first team payers they need to keep to fulfil fixtures?

“In light of confirmation that Rangers Football Club have appointed administrators, I would like to express my deep regret that a Scottish institution should find themselves in the kind of parlous state that has necessitated today’s course of action.
“It is now incumbent on the club to enter into discussions with the appointed administrator to find a resolution on behalf of their creditors and for the Scottish Premier League to apply sanctions in accordance with their regulations. I shall also be seeking a discussion with the appointed administrator in early course, to establish their intentions for the club given the wider implications for the Scottish game.
“This is a profoundly sad chapter in the history of Scottish football and we should not underestimate the potential ramifications for the image of the game as a whole.
“This season alone, we have had two of our biggest clubs, Rangers and Heart of Midlothian, experience serious financial uncertainty, with many other member clubs surviving hand-to-mouth in the current economic climate.
“At a time when there is an appetite and momentum for radical change in Scottish football, it is important that we learn lessons from this dire situation and work together to provide a platform for clubs to thrive and prosper within their means.”

whyte seems to be hinting at ‘exiting administration’ before 31st March. At present HMRC are owed £9m. Whyte is owed £18m as preferred creditor. Can his pal the administrator ‘force’ a sale to a newco before the big tax bill comes to pass, in which case the newco will have escaped the big bill?

How do the Huns generate sufficient cash to survive the season? The majority of the income is front loaded whilst I imagine that expenditure will be evenly spread. So there is going to be a massive downsizing where players will be freed.
I am guessing they will need their season ticket money renewal to keep them going until the transfer window opens to let them sell their prized assets.
Either way, just desserts. Talking of desserts still have some jelly and ice cream on the fridge.
