I like Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths’ reactions to our recent adversity. It says a lot about them. They both personalise responsibility for what happens next, this is an important part of recovery – and success.
A week ago I wrote that the League Cup semi against Ross County was the biggest game in the rest of our season, and that it wasn’t a game I’d bet on. It provided the toxicity cup football can generate, creating a crisis mentality which rolled into Aberdeen on Wednesday.
This psychological phenomenon has to end now. Feel free to put a date in June in the diary to get back to it. We are in a genuine league title contest, something you and I talked about as a great thing for Scottish football not so long ago. We have no God given right to be miles ahead of anyone. We are here because we’ve made mistakes and an opponent stepped up. Welcome to Celtic.
If you want to open an inquest when the patient catches a cold, knock yourself out, but I’m not up for it. If we want this title, we circle the wagons and give the manager and players the encouragement they need to get the job done (and, erm, that includes you, ‘Phyllis’). You can be sure Aberdeen fans will do nothing less.
Tomorrow the focus switches to Perth, where Aberdeen take on St Johnstone. They won their first 8 league games this season, but the wheels came off the tractor immediately after their most important victory away from home – at Tynecastle. Next up was a League Cup game against Hibs, the loss of which plunged them into a five-week chasm.
They are a team who get notoriously nervous just when they begin to think they are in with a chance. We’ll see what Tommy Wright does with them tomorrow.
Enjoy your football. Enjoy this league race, the challenge and the disappointments. Enjoy that thrill when a goal goes against Aberdeen, or the downer when they score. It will make the finale all the more rewarding, I promise you.

The bookies’ insulting prices alone should be enough for Kilmarnock’s ‘professional’ footballers to produce their supposed ‘premier league’ quality and rebuke the slur on their abilities.
But they won’t. Because their loyalism will win out.
However, 5 on them at 9/1 just in case of an astonishing mutiny.
“What’s that Jim a Celtic player ‘done’ for drinking driving! …………….of course we’ll get it on the front page in the morning”
“What’s that Jim Celtic / IRA story …………………..of course we’ll get that on the front page tonight.
Maybe we should scroll all the way back for some comments about Anthony Stokes’s performances before we turn him into a superstar that Ronny let go.
HH.
PS : thanks for the highlights earlier on Development game. The future looks bright. Maybe we could let the “first” team have a look.
Wooft….those TV huns McCann and Slick Hair Smith are demented.
Sickening.
Next season is going to be disgusting.
Thems are loving it….while we go backwards.
We should be light years ahead…but we are rapidly declining.
Wont be nice next year.

Etims on Twitter don’t miss our illustrious CEO and how he has robbed Paul to pay Peter
Young McGregor has made a big mistake…..it will either make or break him. It’s all down to him now and he has to ignore the nonsense which will be in the media.

Complements of Burgas Hoops.
Cheers.
It’s one of those games you want both teams to get humped:))
I think it will be taxi for McGregor. Or can you get a zone card from Bellshill?

So you had your say, nobody else allowed then?
You are in attack mode before anything has been said. Perhaps if you were a bit more friendly in your posts you wouldn’t feel the need to be so aggressive to defend then or attack others. Agendas work both ways you know.
Just a thought, but it does not cost to be civil.

Callum McGregor – innocent until proven guilty.
Also contrary to popular opinion,he has been playing some good football recently, so let’s not let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Furthermore, there’s isn’t much we can do to alter the decision made by Ronny, or PL with regards to Anthony Stokes – Yes, he should have been in the starting line-up, of course he should. LG and Stokesy himself would have been a clinical and ruthless strike force. It’s done now though.
I’m praying for good weather and half decent playing surfaces, then Celtic shall turn that so-called title race into a procession.
Still the same old, grand old Celtic.
Since 1888.
Remarkable.

Anybody know what McGreggor’s breathalyser reading was?
I might have a bit more sympathy if it was between 50 and 80.
Spare us the hagiography of St Anthony of Stokes!
For me, Stokes was an average player who enjoyed only a fleeting acquaintance with the importance of a good first touch, and was therefore of limited use or influence at professional level. He did enjoy a couple of highlights – effectively saving Lennon’s job, and winning the game against Karagandy both come to mind – but those highlights have elevated his standing among some of us way, way beyond where it should be. He was not able to screw the nut when he should have, and appeared incapable of putting the greater good – Celtic FC – above his personal interests.
If he does it at Hibs and turns things around, like Griffiths seems to have done, then hats off to him. But I don’t see it.
Good Afternoon.
Here are two lots of new thoughts:
One about surviving a very special sort of shark attack:

And one about a complaint to David Cameron:

‘this is when Celtic WAS a family’
###
To me the main difference between then and now was that those who owned and controlled the Club were local and were dyed in the wool fans themselves. They may have been of a different social class to the vast bulk of the fan base, but they were local.
It’s not like that now.
Yes Leicester Goal.
THE CLUMPANY all over those SMSM goons like a rash, as per always.
Keep the torch shining brightly upon those zombie roaches.
Much appreciated.

Now Anto is no footballing superstar, far from it. However Ronnie’s signings are contriving to make him seem like one in comparison. None of the current squad, outwith LG and KC, will come anywhere near the contribution of goals, assists and generally ‘manning up’ that Anto has made. Me i’d rather have Stokes in the team than any number of Ciftci, Coles or Armstrongs.

Good luck with the gee gees.
Still confident we will win the league. Double depends on the MIBs.

MacJay,
Gudgie is a Cant (tink) word for a “guy”. They’ve said in Dingwall since day dot, but also heard in Glasgow an Newcastle.
*there’s always been tinkers in the Loch Lomond area and were referred to as “gadgies”, which I believe was actually the word they used for non-travellers.
Oglach
Fair comment. But nevertheless, in case we ever get carried away, the comments are a sobering reminder.
Hail, Hail.
Bellshill odds on.
Noticed there also a race at Leopardstown today is named the 1888 Restaurant Hurdle.
Very significant date that.
Happy Saturday one and all.

Your post only leads to the inevitable a ” zero limit ” Brigade response.
But you probably knew that.
Thanks garygillespieshamstring.
We’ll win the league at a canter mate, didn’t worry about that.

Real pub fitba’ being served up at asbestox. Can’t believe this Killie side took points off us.

It’s like a game up the park.
Tuned into the Sevco Killie game.
Killie resorting to their default 10 behind the ball tactics and being dominated by 11 jerseys at the moment.
The standard of passing from Sevco is atrcoious
Sevco struggling to break killie…..wont be long before the penalty now.
HH
Killie showing zero attacking intent.

Cheers for putting that up
I’m sure Roy Croppie can add it to his Friday night posts

Callum McGregor – innocent until proven guilty.
*absolutely. let he who has NOT sinned cast the first stone.
Mcgregor – innocent until proven guilty. If he made a mistake he needs educating and supported.
Same goes for anyone.
Not much else can be said
