Rosenborg or Valur, if Celtic progress in Champions League

231

If Celtic overcome Armenian champions Alashkert in the Champions League first qualifying round, they will face either Icelanders, Valur, or our old pals, Rosenborg, from Norway.  The Norwegians and Celtic will be overwhelming favourites to progress from the opening round.

Rosenborg gave Celtic a fright a year ago when they took a 0-0 draw from Celtic Park in the Champions League third qualification round.  A James Forrest goal settled the return in Celtic’s favour.

Rosenborg went on to eliminate Ajax from the Europa League, winning home and away, before finishing third in their Europa League group behind Zenit St Petersburg and Real Sociedad.  Norwegian teams play through the summer, so Rosenborg have played 27 games since their winter recess.  This will be a stiff test for Celtic, should the first round go to form.

If they were playing anybody else I’d be supporting Senegal here, but I love Poland.

I just wish they’d turned up tonight.

Also watching on mute with music on because of that despicable, ludicrous gargoyle McCoist.

Watching Poland v Senegal to a soundtrack of The Fall is a strange experience, but better than listening to the garden gnome reading from a list of cliches that were cliches 30 years ago.

  3. So Celtic begin an eight game odyssey or this year you could call it a mini marathon to make the group stage fo the Champions League and to hopefully grab a few million quid in the process. One wonders what additional difficulties the crowd that run European football will conjur up for next season for Champion teams from the smaller leagues.

I have to say that the draw for Celtic in Europe was of greater interest to me than the World Cup now in showtime. It is not an easy draw to begin with and going to Asia to play in torrid mid-summer heat will not be easy – remember Gibraltar. Hopefully it will be a nightime fixture. The Armenian football season begins in August which is a plus. None of these teams can be taken for granted. We can see how the so-called lesser sides are getting results against the established teams in the World Cup.

Then it more than like;ly it will be Rosenborg and we saw how tight that was last season and God only knows who we get at the next hurdle as they say it’s all to play for.

Coisty does what he does, says what he says, coz he knows that the West ae Scoatlind civil unrest factor will be his protection. Ever since, Coisty, Durranty and “Kevin” McMinn, gave a Celtic supporter the kicking of his life, outside the Salmon Leap pub in East Kilbride.

    Last rites for CQN?

It’s close-season syndrome. Lack of Celtic action means resorting to inferior World Cup fare.

Or maybe they are all watching Emmerdale-))

  10. My friends in Celtic.

I am unsure what Jamesgang means, however what I am sure of ; it’s not the last rites of CQN.

The lack of posts is a concern, however there are actions we can take to alleviate this.

Stop treating CQN like a messenger service.

    Respect all posts and posters.

    Respect difference of opinion

Ensure all posts are treated equally.

Evaluate the post, not the poster

    Stop disrespecting posters.

Ensure all posts are considered equally, and there is no hierarchy of posters.

Open up , and stop the cliqish overtones.

Bhoys / Ghirls, we must encourage new and lurking posters to post There is no criteria of ” who you know: or my litinary

Absolutely, respect alternative views as long as they don’t conflict with the blogs statuary rules.

Do we want a very small like minded clique on CQN, or as is my preference, we open it up to the greater support.

I’m not medically trained but I am asthmatic, and when we had a serious leak we needed a dehumidifier to dry out the house and it wasn’t good for my Asthma .
