I think Paul scored in every debut, Celtic Park, the Crumbledome, Pittodrie ….

The Maestro was special … Broony is getting there but Kieran Tierney could be better than the two of them :-)

  2. Apologies for the long post but Jophes’ story brings back painful memories.

Almost 12 years ago myself, my brother-in law and my best friend were sitting on New Year’s Day enjoying a few beers. All three wives were pregnant and due in the first half of 2006 so you can imagine the direction of the conversation and the thought that we’d have three kids growing up together.

In February my wife gave birth to a beautiful little girl, my third daughter.

My sister was due in April and it was to be her first. On the day she was due she felt that something was wrong and was taken to hospital.

Her instincts proved correct and she was told that her little boy had died. She still had to endure the trauma of giving birth and had a stillborn baby, Daniel, named after my dad, later that day.

It was the worst day of my life, never mind hers, and the grief was something that can never be understood, other than those like Jophes and his family who have experienced it.

Two months later I took a call from my best mate who was absolutely distraught. His wife had just delivered a stillborn baby too.

    So three had become one.

I was the fortunate one and I thank God every day for that but the pain of seeing loved ones going through such a terrible time was a pain I’d never experienced before or have since.

My sister and my friend both turned to SANDS for help and found it to be a great source of comfort, so much so that my sister is still a befriender, just trying to help people in the same way others helped her.

Jophes, I’ve seen the comments of support from others on the blog and you now know you’re not alone. This place is wonderfully supportive when required.

I posted a few days ago that it’s only time that helps as from experience that’s how it’s been for us. We still celebrate Daniel’s birthday and lay flowers at Christmas and other random times as even though we never got to meet him properly he’s a huge part of our family. We can now also talk about him without the raw pain being there and can even smile at the thought of how he’d have turned out.

One things for sure, he would have a seat at Paradise beside his dad.

You and your family will never get over what’s happened but through time I hope your pain will lessen.

If am not mistaken Stevie Frail was in charge of our youngsters when his nephew was lay off the books and ended up at Queens Park then Dundee Utd, Hull now at Liverpool still couldn’t lace our Kieran’s boots :-)

Cqn good night n god bless sometimes a very hard read on here but if one poster gets a bit of comfort then it’s all good…

Dallas remember no slacking from now on, not sure am that happy having a part timer on my team :-)

    Hail Hail

  7. So, who are the new huns gonna get in to save them ?

McInnes, don’t think so, cost too much

McLeish, possibly, but his being pished most of the time will be a problem, but cheap so who knows

Now I am struggling, unless the swivel eyed liar pulls a hun out of the hat and surprises us all

Who knows, who cares, feck them, but I must admit their pain is delicious, the more they suffer the more I enjoy, bad, I don’t give a, I love it.

  8. So it’s 30 fallers in LMS9

Young Daniel will be up in 106 with you and your Dad, enjoying himself.

I have a friend who suffered the exact same,

We have been to a few Simba nights in support.

    Hail Hail

Gutenberg, it s of no consolation but the average number of still births has decreased from 17 to 15 each week throughout Britain over the last 4 years , which is still 15 too many each week.

SANDS and SIMBA do excellent work to comfort , counsel and assist bereaved parents. The subject of Still birth and neo natal deaths is very uncomfortable for family and friends of bereaved parents.

In relation to all the advances made in relation to cancer and heart disease for example, foetal medicine has not advanced as much.

My wife is also a befriender with Glasgow SANDS .

  10. Hot Smoked,

I work for the cream cookies and had a few people,

who i think may be in the know,

asking for a price for McLeish on Friday,

he was 4/1 at the time

  11. Jophes . So sorry to hear about the sad news. Thoughts & prayers with you and your family. .—————————————————————— This week in Paris presents another fixture where the prospect of a respectable defeat , a skelping or god forbid, humiliation , might be on the cards . When Wednesday night arrives, Celtic will face the harsh realities, again , of the modern European era , where TV audience numbers matter more than football merit . Money, especially Middle East oil money ,counts . It matters not a jot , in the big picture. Bring it on , and give it , our best shot . Remember, finishing 3rd is progress. Celtic will continue to try and play the game properly. In Brendan we trust. HH

  12. Dallas,

I’m guessing your wife and my sister might know each other, both do a wonderful job in helping others.

I do some charity stuff for SANDS, just a small amount but it all helps.

My mate lives in Suffolk and he set up a charity in aid of his son with SANDS being one of the recipients.

    Cowiebhoy

He’s always with us in spirit but the honour of sitting next to him would go to his dad who sits across from us, can’t remember which section. Congrats to you and your daughter on the birth of Jude Ryan. I’m sure I’ll see him soon in 106.

  13. Hot Smoked

Not sure if it was your good self who put a small wager on Murty to get the Cheats gig …. after 10 games in charge the bookies pay out, I was sort of wanting the Murtmeister to keep winning but had to smile when the Accies made it two :-)

  14. I dinnae use fractionals, I use decimals, easier for accumulators.

I’ve bet Celtic to win @ 21 against the cheats.

    Highly unlikely I know.

    Celtic is all about confounding.

  15. Petec

    Gambling is a mugs game

    I love gambling :-)

Thankfully I only gamble what the good lady let’s me :-)

  16. Nir Bitton was excellent again yesterday in a new role for the dude.

He is attacking the ball in the air with Great vigour now.

There is something about Brendan. :))

  17. 6 goals conceded in 13 league games, 7 of which have been away from home. Big Nir has done brilliantly.

  18. TTR,

It’s not often I disagree with you, I agree that Nir has been Awesome. He is developing in that position as well.

Brendan has a style that………………………………… WowWow here we go to 7 in a Row.

  19. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gutenberg, my wife’s name is Rowena.

We both feel indebited to SANDS for all the help, advice and friendship shown to us.

Both you and your friend deserve great credit for what you have contributed to SANDS .
