Russia, Ukraine clubs called to Joint Championship meeting

972

A group of Russian and Ukrainian clubs hoping to form a joint championship have formed an organising committee and have invited top flight clubs in both countries to a meeting in Moscow on 18th of February to formalise arrangements.

The invitation letter states, “The main goal of our organization is the development of club, national and European football”

“In order to bring football to a new level, we propose to combine multiple national championships in one tournament.  Initially Ukraine and Russia will be involved but in order to develop the strength of our game, the league could be extended to all former-Soviet countries.

“We are convinced that this new championship will be a model for other territories; this integration process is the future of football.

“This initiative will create healthy competition, increase entertainment game and increasing revenues from television broadcasts and advertising – just some of the benefits of unification.

“All of this will allow individual clubs to benefit as well as national teams, who will gain from players working in a higher standard of league.  This is perhaps a unique case in sport where all participants are able to win.

Soviet Sport spoke to several Russian teams who confirmed they will attend.  Sergei Palkin, the chief executive of Shakhtar Donetsk, was cautious, suggesting Ukrainian clubs and the Federation need to act with unity, “I hope this meeting takes place but only after Ukrainian clubs have chosen a common position.

“Then we can decide who should attend.  The Football Federation of Ukraine need to be active, they can unite clubs and deal with the proposal appropriately.”

Note their points:

“Main goal… development of club, national and European football”.

“Bring football to a new level”.

“Develop the strength of our game”.

“This integration process is the future of football”.

“This will allow individual clubs to benefit as well as national teams”.

“Create healthy competition, increase entertainment game and increasing revenues from television broadcasts and advertising”.

Amid all the talk about reorganising our game has anyone had the clarity of vision to articulate the above aspirations?  Having lived with threats from “the big five” leagues for long enough other demographically-challenged countries are putting plans in place to allow their clubs a sporting chance.  It will soon be “the big six” and thereafter, who knows?

Why on earth are we worried about the number of lower divisions we have?  Regionalise or wither on the vine – and do your best to ignore any muppet who suggests taking legal action because he got his sums wrong.  The only change worth having will be consensual and will benefit all in our game.

Winding Up Order – The Unsensational Truth

Very quick blog to try and put a story that has been bubbling under the surface to bed.

It is my understanding that the club was indeed hit by a winding up order for a sum in the region of £400k.

But fear not this is not a reason to panic.

In the world of business people fall out over invoices all of the time and that is exactly what has happened in this case when Orlit Enterprises (a company used by Charles Green’s consortium to source investors for the purchase of assets) hit the club with a £400k bill to be paid by the end of last year.

The club, to my understanding, did not agree with the invoice and challenged its value and payment date. After some to’ing and thro’ing Orlit Enterprises issued a winding up petition against the club. (a tactic regularly used in the business world to force anothers hand)

Rather than incur legal fee’s and the bad press of a court case the two parties got together and agreed a payment plan (which I believe is less than £400k) and also terms for that payment (which means the club does not have to pay it all in the one swoop).

Many people on my twitter timeline have asked two questions regarding this:

    1. Does that mean we’re in debt

    2. Why not pay it all off at once?

In answer to question 1 the answer is no. When you take out your mobile phone contract you agree to pay say £30 a month over 12 months. That means you owe your provider £360 but this isn’t classed as a debt. It’s a liability… much in the same way as RFC’s £400k invoice now is.

A case in point shows that RFC’s largest liability at the moment is to people like me and you. Season ticket holders. The club has taken in approx £8.5m season ticket money but they still owe us half of the games on that ticket therefore they have a liability of £4.25m (approx) to us, the fans.

In case of number 2 the reason we are not paying it all of at once is simple cash flow. Paying £400k mid season would maybe curtain other plans we have ongoing at the moment in terms of developing Ibrox, Edmiston House etc etc.

By agreeing to a payment plan it just allows us to manage cash flow better.

Again the mobile phone example is a good one… I’m sure most of us could pay £360 for our mobile phone contract up front but why bother when you can just build it into your ongoing cash flow?

Main reason for this blog is to ensure that Bears are aware of the non-sensationalised truth behind this (rather non) story.

Please retweet the link and put the Rangers family mind at rest.

Your welcome for the duedil website info…

I’m sure you will be amazed at the free info on that site…

Incredible to see who is all connected and linked…

    But for your question …

Rangers football club ltd .. If my mind serves me correctly IS on duedil

If you look at servco 5088 you will notice in the previously known section there lies rangers fc ltd – applied for a name change a few months prior to liquidation .

All this weve bought the history stuff puzzles me…

My interpretation is yes they bought the titles (as in the wee flags on the wall)

They bought the history (as in the trophies in the trophy room instead of the scrappy getting to melt them)

But as for the entitlement to have this unbroken history?

THAT would be contested by govt officials

As I think the badge etc will too.

Anyone can claim to have bought titles (those wee flags) but they cannot say that rangers international won them !

That like me buying a Lisbon lions European cup medal and saying that my amateur team has won the European cup …

    Utter rubbish

But I can say I bought celtics history…

Ats all in the way u word it

  22. no way we are moving into an epl or a new bpl is being brought about. only after we accept that can be have real dialog about what shape our football takes and how we can best move forward.

accept we i.e. celtic, hearts hibs, motherwell, aberdeen, dundee united etc… are all in it together and need to ward together.

think several things can be done to improve scottish football that would make for a better more competitive competition. in no particular order:

summer football (good weather, less football competition, pre for euro football etc…)

standing areas (fans want it, makes for better spectical)

reduced pricing for attendance to games (get more through the door, keep them coming back and in)

better distribution of t.v income, both domestic and european (making all teams stronger, improving ability to get players in, holding onto player, making leagues stronger more competitive)

sky use our money to fund epl. sky/ espn are not a charity they are getting a great deal for their money when it comes to scottish football, lets cut out the middle man.

scottish football on the right footing could generate at least 50 million a year from subscription, advertising, selling of highlights, rights and sponsorship. the better the product the better everything else gets. 15 million a year is insulting

12 – 12 – 18 structure is ok, two lower 8 split start with 0 points, top split of 8 should commence with points % from first 22 games, to keep top league tight at the business end (keeps 4 games against top clubs, but makes sure no one team runs away with the league before split)

    3 points for a win

2 points for a score draw

1 point for a no score draw

    0 points for a loss.

a’ buy into youth scheme’ operated by scottish football to help clubs fund contracts for promising young players with 50/50 sell on split (youth scheme and club) to help keep good young players in scotland longer and to get their true value (or similiar scheme) that gets same outcome.

talk up product all the time, we all laugh at the epl hype, but its the hype that keeps people tuned in, not the football

know i dont have all the answers but fgs we do need to change our way of thinking and doing business.

we can get our own football in order so that w are not also runner and so we can compete better

    that is all
