Schisms, corralling the message

926

Aberdeen are on the kind of downward spiral which is difficult to arrest, but there’s more going on that we know about publicly. I would be amazed if their recent run, four defeats and a draw in five games, after winning their opening eight league games, was all to do with matters on the park.

They are a team who look to be in schism. If so, Celtic Park is the perfect venue to pull together. You raise your game at Celtic Park in a way which isn’t likely in Dingwall. Whatever differences that exist will be set aside, we’ll need to be on our game to win.

Craig Whyte’s bankrupt, unable to pay Ticketus the £18m damages they won against him. Craig’s financial strength was plain for all to see, as he made regular trips north on Easyjet in his worn-out attire, owning up to the fact he couldn’t fund the bank repayment, until a clever knight put him onto Ticketus.

Charles Green was equally transparent. Relying on shares-for-backing deals with pliable ‘legends’. Now we have Dave King, overwhelmingly dependent on PR and a compliant media, while the rest of the world is sticking dates in the calendar. The most common question I’m asked these days is “When’s it going to happen?” It’s no longer a matter of “if” it’s going to happen.

The re-writing of history, evident today, will be rolled out again in due course. “We told you about him”, they will scream. Aye, sure you did. You also made it all possible, just as you did with Green, Whyte and Murray.

The trade in favours, exclusive stories, substances and team-handed loose-limbed 60 minute acquaintances, deployed to sustain the project and corral the message over the years is legend. Truly legend. Fraternity on this level takes more than money, a business lunch or a game of golf.  If that’s how you think the game is played, these guys will leave you standing.  Shed tears for none of them.

The books which will be written when the guilty are dead will sell millions.

Ghirls for Good

Ladies, sign up for this year’s Celtic Foundation Ghirls for Good Christmas lunch.  I’m told it’s a riot and one of the best days of the year at Celtic Park……  More here.

  2. There’s every chance that after Thursday’s games the points tally will be as follows –

    Molde – 7

    Celtic – 5

    Ajax – 5

    Fenerbahce – 4

With the next games then being Celtic v Ajax and Molde v Fenerbahce.

  5. RD is without doubt a great communicator and a hugely personable individual with a steely determination. All great attributes for a Celtic manager but I would still reserve the right to question his formation and tactics. I was impressed by his performance today but I would be much more impressed if he could make astute tactical changes that could win us games.

    Good shout.

Would that be like the substitution of JF, for a middle man in Tom Rogic that consensus and goals suggests, helped cement victory on Wednesday night?

    Re Europe

There is a reasonable chance that this group could finish with all teams having between 5 and 10 points, the range, may be even closer – all teams could have 8 points !

I am convinced 8 will be enough, provided we win our two home games, and in particular we win the head to head with Molde with 2 goals + for hoops and none conceded.

  11. Bsp indeed. Who saw that one coming. Although LG did play a rather significant part in both goals. A player RD sideliined for most of last season.

I’m on the same wavelength. Now, it’s all about qualifying and if that’s in 2nd place then fine by me. Beating Molde by 2 should be achieveable despite our recent performance in Norway. And that would set up the Ajax game to be “one of those special European nights” where a win will probably put us through.

But first, Aberdeen. In less than 12 hours…

The Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that Martin Odegaard is looking for a move from Real Madrid.

Still only 16, Odegaard was linked with a move to Celtic and a reunion with his former Stromgodset manager Ronny Deila, before choosing to join the La Liga giants.

Marca claim that Odegaard has grown frustrated at the lack of opportunities under Rafa Benitez. They report that the club favours loaning the Norwegian international to a local top flight side such as Getafe, but Celtic fans will hope that Deila’s relationship with the youngster could prove decisive.

Not sure whether “Marca” is the Spanish equivalent to the SMSM, but I would love to see this guy in the hoops.

    Hi GG!

I don’t often post now but I wanted to say a big thank you for posting those 2 Video Interviews by Ronny Deila! ☺

WOW! I just L♡VE that Mhan! ☺ (In a mhanly Celtic kind of way of course! ☺) He absolutely has his finger on the pulse, is a realist and understands EXACTLY what Celtic are up against in Scotland! I for one hope that he remains our Mhanager for a very long time to come! ☺

It also made me think that I am now more than ever convinced that some posters on here (should that be Imposters?) are either paid to try and diminish us, and/or are simply driven by a non-Celtic agenda…

I think it is important probably that true Celtic Supporters like myself post more often and continually remember Ronny Deila’s words of wisdom on the need and drive of those outside the Club and the Support to try and do us down…

It is probably also worth remembering that a good barometer of how well we are doing overall, and probably how less well others are doing, is in how hard they try to hurt us. The better we are doing, the more they try to hurt us; the more they try to hurt us probably means that *WE are doing a lot better than some (im)posters/hunposters on here would give us credit for.

(*WE = Celtic Supporters, Celtic Players, Celtic Investors and ALL Celtic Staff! ☺)

    Yours in Celtic,
