With former Rangers International director, Charles Green, no longer on the scene, Scottish Football League chief executive, David Longmuir, has had a sudden change of heart. After encouraging member clubs to reject the SPL proposal to merge leagues, yesterday he congratulated clubs who voted for the merger as “reluctant heroes”.
SFL president, Jim Ballantyne, was less pragmatic, “We are joining their [SPL] company, their organisation. They have swallowed us up. We could use nice words about it, but it is a takeover.”
On this occasion, we concur with Mr Ballantyne, who went on to say, “It will be for others to decide if this step takes us to where we want to go.”
The truth is that while this arrangement will do lots for clubs in the second tier of the game it will fundamentally change nothing, our challenges remain.
News this morning of impending financial doom at Hearts as a result of their lender and major shareholder going into liquidation presents another challenge. Hearts over-reached what looked like a bizarre attempt to spend money like there was no tomorrow. Memories of Zadoc the Priest blasting over the PA system at Tynecastle heralding their access to the Champions League qualifiers in 2006 will seem hollow now.
Scottish football has one perfectly solvent cash cow and nearly 40 businesses teetering on the brink. Send the cash cow off to graze in pastures where it can be fattened in return for writing a cheque big enough to solve the game’s problems.
Willie Wallace will be at the Celtic Store, Argyle St, for late night shopping, from 5.30-7.30 pm tonight (Thursday). Where you can buy a signed copy of his book and have a chat with the man himself. Bring a camera.
Immediately after leaving the Celtic Store Willie and Brogan Rogan (and a pile of books) are heading to the Greenock Celtic Supporters’ Club for a CQN Question and Answer evening. Entry costs £2 (all of which is going to our charity causes). DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERA!!
Raffle tickets for this fabulous signed Celtic strip cost only £1, you’ve two days left to get a ticket, so fill your boots here.
Tomorrow, while some of us are relaxing in Fife, over a hundred Celtic fans will drive north ahead of a 1254125 Ben Nevis climb and Huddle. Two of our own are then cycling from Fort William back to Glasgow on Sunday…. They need sponsors for their 1254125 campaign. Even if you can’t make it up Ben Nevis you can help out here.
And, if your stuck in Lanarkshire tomorrow there’s a trivia quiz in aid of the Walk Centre, Nakuru, Kenyan, who help children and families of the slum. Quiz takes place at St John The Baptist Church Hall, Uddingston, 7.30 – 11.30.

In the heat of Lisbon
If it was it’s too late noo..
Will everyone be on the course or in the clubhouse all day tomorrow?
Or will non golfers or retired one’s be localising in the surrounding establishments?
BMCUW
I rest my case. I am back doing friggin school runs for a local bus company. PM only, which seems piffle, but it gets me out. Like your dad, I would loved to have retired to the pub, but the smoking ban (I know I know, can’t give it up) has ensured I have never set foot in a pub since it was intrduced. TRUTH. :))

On Friday when some lucky people will be enjoying themselves at the golf
Myself, wife and six other friends will be driving to fort william , where we aim to take part in climbing Ben Nevis on Saturday
Personally, having only started to climb hills four weekends ago, this will be a tough shift and we are doing this for 125 4 125
On Sunday myself and another crazy CQN’r MWD after taking part in the all day climb/descent of Ben Nevis on the Saturday….
plan to cycle over 100 miles from Fort William back to Glasgow area,
again to raise money for 125 4 125
Reason for post, you guessed right…….. Looking for sponsors to help donate to the 125 4 125 charity
Below is the rest of the story and web link……….
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Hello team
just after the Barcelona game a few of us took the pledge and took part in some events to support the 125 4 125 charity
Since then our aim is two fold
1. To promote the charity and engage with at least one other member of the global Celtic family to do the same
2. raise some money “1.25″ “12.50″ “125.00″ every bit counts
With a few events still to come up,
1888 mile cycle
Climb of Ben Nevis
100 plus mile cycle from fort william to glasgow
Cycle to Cardenden
We are hoping to maximise donations and would appreciate any donations towards 125 4 125 cause

Shave then Shower, early bed for me tonight, If George is on Question Time, I may take that in before heading to bed.
Hope all the golfers, caddies and spectators have a great day tomorrow.
Some of us have to work.
Just had a look on my iPad Weather App, usually pretty accurate, a couple of showers possible, with sunny intervals, so in other words, a summers day. 17degrees C.
Good weather to waste a walk, or for OT, to sit and drink wine:-))

The very best of luck to all on the golf outing tomorrow. No use me even thinking about that kind of day, as I have never swung a golf club in my life, excepting crazy golf :(((.
I will be disappointed if I don’t get satirical remarks after that statement. :))

I can’t believe that more tickets for the “Dublin Decider” against Liverpool wont come onstream, but can anyone help me get 4 tickets for the game?
Cheers
I think it is pathetic that Galloway and especially Farage are on QT tonight from Edinburgh.
This is a young audience who want to engage in Independence issues not hear another load of sky’s going to fall on your heads if you vote YES rubbish.
Neither man is an elected representative in Scotland and in Farage they’ve found one man whose party get less interest or percentage of the vote than Galloway and Smeato put together.
If this is an Independence for Scotland QT the Greens or another party who supports Independence (SSP or a mamber of that Radical Independence party (the ones who gave Farage what for like good Celtic fan Liam O”Hare) should have been on there. Not 4 Unionists (two of whom don’t actually live in Scotland and both of whom are un-electable in Scotland) who’ll spend the night telling everyone we cannae because we cannae – the No mantra.
It isn’t an SNP only issue but the BBC are treating it in this manner. The Greens have 14 Councillors and 2 elected MSPs and yet they’re overlooked for the same old guff from Farage and Galloway – two men who’re on TV more than the host of the show.
I’d have thought young people asking questions about renewable energy and environmental issues might have been better facilitated.
Then again balance is not what they are after on the BBC.
Kieran Westwood on his way ,Anyone else heard this ?
Only one Amido Balde, he gets the ball and gies it laldy.
He s Portuguese and he scores with ease
Or maybe I’m getting a bit carried away with the you tube clips
Snake
Would you rather a myopic bunch of happy clapping nationalists
You probably would :-))
Snake
Why intellectual entertaining Nats would you have on
Most MSP s. charmless eejits
PF Ayr
No pal, I want balance. Why not get Partick Harvey, Liam O”hare (as he’s a young guy and pro-Indepdence) and Margot MacDonald and then the rest of Bitter together on the other side. You don’t even need the SNP there for young voters night.
I for one would have loved to have seen the radical independence folk get air time to tell their side of the story (as opposed to Farage telling everyone it was anti-English racism – conveniently ignoring the fact that the guy who was arrested was English at the Demo).
Does someone have an in at the beeb. Aberdour just got a weather check for tomorrow .
Sunglasses. , suncream and waterproofs packed !
Hail hail
In the heat of Lisbon
For Johnny naw he’s a good Tim…
BBC have a new weather app – all you golfers get it downloaded
WEEFRATHETIM
Only good things about the smoking ban are
If you need a light you know who to ask.
You meet a nicer class of person in the shelter and if chatting up a lass, you know she won’t get shirty about you smoking!
But the ban on smoking in a works van really annoys me….
I can’t see me giving up,I enjoy my fags.
Snake
You don’t really advocate air time for Harvey ….the man appears to be an anti catholic bigot at times
Sanna
Saw that ..
Patrick Harvey. .
More than a chair fell off in that flitting. .
O))
Charles kickham
Only if it is Judith delivering the bad news. :)
Sannabhoy

You are wrong.
It is not an independence QT.
So you can get off your high horse.
Paul67 et al
Bill and Ralph meet on the golf course and decide to finish the round together.
Bill has a little dog with him and on the next green, when Bill holes out with a twenty foot putt, the little dog starts yipping and stands up on his hind legs.
Ralph is quite amazed at this clever trick and say; “That dog is really talented! What does it do if you miss a putt?”
“Somersaults! “Somersaults!” “How many of them does it do?”
“Mmm, depends on how hard I kick him up the ass!”
Snake.
It’s entertainment!
Probably have some of their best viewing figure’s for quite a while.
