Social cost of Scots exclusion

1522

You want to know the real social cost of Scottish football’s exclusion from the league structure England and Wales share?  It’s the lack of pitches, nets, strips, balls and coaching certifications that the £1bn bounty, promised by the Barclay’s Premier League last night to the grassroots game.

£1bn to the grassroots is a huge sum.  It dwarfs what taxpayers can afford and will provide a series of benefits our kids and amateur players are denied.

If we’re part of the UK, we should be part of the UK’s commercial opportunities.  Every youth team in the land are excluded because of the actions of a cartel.

What are the SFA doing about it?  Nothing.  Their plans don’t seem to require world-class youth facilities.

If my memory serves me right, there were concerns that we were not as far ahead of the The Rangers as we thought and should have been.

We did improve and they got worse so it appeared there really was a gulf.

    10 years behind us?

As long as we keep improving that gulf will stay wide, but a year can be a long time in football and 1 day you suddenly say….how the …. did that happen!

    Vespacide …

By all normal rules of business and law, you should be right…. but, clearly those rules dont apply here.

But, as I said, I hope you and Ger are right….

I will not be as brave as WITS and make some crazy promise (e.g., that if they are finally liquidated, I will run naked through the city square )…. although, if it does happen, I may get drunk for the first time in my life, and end up doing it!

WITS … have you got a lawyer on retainer yet?

as you say, 1 day can be a long time, let alone 1 year …. particularly, if the game is rigged.

  6. A pre-packed liquidation event is the only way new sevco can gain control of it’s revenue streams, until that happens sit back and watch the house of horrors eat itself.

For what it’s worth: at 19 i was already out in the big wide world to make a living and try and better myself as best i could.

Maybe that’s the reason this ignorant bastard of a 19 yr old is still at home?

  11. The huns will flush themselves down the stank sooner rather than later.

They are insolvent NOW and have been for some time. (shame on the SFA for putting their fingers in their ears, closing their eyes and shouting “lalalalalalalallalla”.)

They have required emergency pay day loans to make payroll for months. £1.5m a month in loans with no revenue coming in. Think about that.

The dam is burst (how appropriate for that shower of jingoistic clowns).

I have tried “oxymoron” but feel it is insufficient for this situation.

  13. The HUNS have been running on crises loanes for the last six months, you can not run a business like that, and when the sheet hits the fan, and it will, it will not be the HUNS fault, it will be the SFAs fault, like the last time, and it will continue like that as long as the same suits are in there, and right now they are going no where.

  14. In my opinion, all Celtic need to do is to employ real P R People men or woman.who know how to deal with the media in our country, for lets face it they are the ones that say and print lies about players, officials, that involved with Celtic Football Club.for yrs a lot on here have been asking our club to bar the lot of them, and that includes S T V who are in cahoots with the Huns, also that lot on Sportsound. as im led to believe one sports journalist was showing the door ,and that was Hugh Keevins, whom is allowed back, can someone tell me why cant the directors at celtic, tell the media enough is enough.,dont come back.

I heard Barry Ahern? being quoted as saying that football in England should be nationalised. His point was it was all driven by short ttermism possibly because of the intrinsic footballthink that you are only as good as your next goal or next game.

I am appalled as someone with 35 years of management in government at how unprofessional and unfit for purpose our governance system is.

No proper checks and balances between sporting integrity and commercialism, no one actually in charge because the construct of SPL leaves two stools through which the leadership required falls.

Paul is right about the cartel down south seriously damaging our game but it will take political intervention to correct it on a UK wide basis. Your UK league solution.

That thought of government involvement would always be met in the past by FIFA won’t allow it. Well I sense a sea change their F FIFA they are corrupt to the core and Blatter is unlikely to see Qatar.

In the upcoming election I would like to see the fixing of football in the UK to become a theme of all the parties although I can see the SNP having a dilemma supporting a UK wide set up but should not stop the others from showing us at least one example when it would be better together.

But whether it’s a replacement of the current worse than useless culture and constructs at Hampden or uniting our Football

  17. Associations the current arrangement simply cannot be allowed to continue unchallenged by political parties.

well they’re certainly not planning on going bust….this is Chairman Paul Murray speaking to the ET today….

“most supporters would realise there is a rebuilding job here. It is going to take time to make us competitive, first of all in Scotland and then hopefully competitive in Europe.

“I have said before that it is a three to five year project. Within that period I don’t know how long it will take to win the Premiership, it could be one or two years.

“We will try and do it as quickly as possible but also with a medium to long-term plan in mind.”

take that in for a second – winning the premiership within one or two years….thats 2017 – 2018!

  19. He only regrets it because he got caught!

He’s a lowlife lying scumbag, in my opinion.

    Of course.

  20. tonydonnelly67

Your right tony, the way i see football in Scotland is the same way i view and have an opinion on Turkish football (most of high heedyins are either in jail or waiting to be sentenced) totally corrupt.

The Bulgarian league is totally corrupt also, everyone here knows it (black money from Ruski)

The Romanians have the same problem with bribes etc etc etc.

The reason that the scottish game hasn’t been called out yet is the Masonic cabel protecting it, or protecting one club from it.

As someone up above just said they are Insolvent, and no questions asked !!!!

    “Long term plan?”

Newco’s idea of a “long term plan” is something that’ll take them to July.

  22. Methinks Paul Murray’s been at the ole firewater early today.

Seriously,he’s just throwing out platitudes like to confetti to keep the world’s most gullible peepil onside. The reality is that they’ve had a swatch at the real extent of the trainwreck and are now flummoxed. The Lying King had one look and legged it!

You are understating their ambition. Promotion 2015. Premier League 2016 (2017 at worst)

  25. It’s an interesting point Paul, but ultimately doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. It doesn’t cost billions of pounds to create a working youth football set up, it requires a bit of will and some creative vision. The results are in anyway, the fiscal advantage in the EPL has not improved the quality of the grassroots football in England and Wales, and by some measures may have undermined it. I don’t think England compares well to Scotland today, and this is after 2 decades of introspection.

This TV deal is a problem for Celtic, a big, ugly problem. One we can only hope to solve by investing further in youth (which we can well afford)… it’s a good debating point though.

I think when they ‘lifted the bonnet’ to have a look, they noticed it was a Bentey body only to find a Wartbug engine underneath it.

  27. during P Murray’s interview he states they could have brought King on as a board member, but decided to wait on the SFA declaring him ( DCK ) as fit and proper, what absolute RUBBISH, it’s down to the Court Of Session to sanction King not the SFA, he ( Murray ) spoke alot without actually saying anything, Transparancy my backside.

  29. Well, bhoys, we had better look out. Paul Murray, one of the proven best football administrators the world has ever seen, has targetted 2017/18 as the season that The rangers will win the Scottish Premiership, and be “competitive in Europe” two or three years further on.. This from the former director who sanctioned the spending which killed oldco. And the hordes believe him??

I find it laughable that he is their preferred dog whistler in chief now that Chuckles and Supper Ally are now into horticulture.
