We’ve not really discussed the enormous political and disciplinary matters hanging over Scottish football since before our Champions League campaign got underway but it moves to the fore today, as the SPL Commission, headed by Lord Nimmo Smith, sits to consider charges levelled by the league against former member, Rangers FC. The Commission is expected to conclude by the end of this week.
Rangers are charged with improperly registering players by allowing footballers to enter into contractually binding agreements to receive money in connection with the game, directly or indirectly, without registering these agreements with the SPL or the SFA.
Playing an improperly registering footballer voids the result of a match, no matter how innocuous the registration impropriety is, as Spartans discovered 14 months ago to their cost. They saw their Scottish Cup win over Culter overturned because a player’s registration form was dated only once, not twice as required.
As well as being awarded a 0-3 defeat, the improper registration of players will cost the offending club any prize money ‘won’ and will result in a disciplinary measure being imposed. Spartans were fined £4000, approximately 20% of their annual income, and were suspended from the competition for 12 months. A steep tariff for leaving a box on a form empty and fielding a player in one game of football.
Lots of speculation has centred on the so-called ‘stripping of titles’ but in the event the Commission upholds the charge the voiding of results will happen as a matter of consequence; it should not subject to speculation. What is more interesting is the size of prize money the league would seek to reclaim, and redistribute, and any penalty imposed by the Commission.
SPL teams receive prize money based on their final league position, funded by the league’s TV deal, which for teams finishing in the top two positions is well in excess of £1m each year. Any ‘stripping of titles’ is likely to be a headline grabber, but the repayment of prize money and disciplinary measures will be far more significant, for some.
Sir David Murray, who owned Rangers throughout the period of alleged improper registration of players, insists the club registered all contractually binding payments players received in connection with playing football. SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, was an executive director of Rangers for some of the period under investigation and may have been responsible for some registrations.
Charles Green rejected an offer to limit the consequences of the charge being upheld in return for his company (then called Sevco 5088 Ltd) acquiring the SFA membership vacated by Rangers. We will soon discover if he is master of the Cunning Plan or an over-ambitious gambler.
I expect calls for SPL and SFA rules to be upheld without fear or favour to be met.

Juventus
3 pm radio rumor ————.
Juve have agreed to sell Quagliarella to Fiorentina . Juve want 10 million euros for Quagliarella/ Fiorentina think that is way too much. Juve have told Fiorentina -we will drop the price if you agree to us signing Jovetic for X in the summer ..
Jovetic is a fabulous player . Some rumor mongers have him going to Man City / Arsenal /PSG [ but in the case of the latter only if PSG sell the wondrous Pastore to Real Madrid .

I noticed from one of your earlier post that Juve are up to their old
tricks again of cheating and complaining their cheating was when
they where found out about being involved in the match fixing scandal
and also Big Joos was no where near their player when he took a
Swan dive and there moaning was apparently about Genoa FC @
the weekend and now they are trying to get players in on the fly
Juve certainly do have something in common with Sevco 5088
Has Neilly sorted out the p*ss poor attitude most of our players displayed in the League Cup Semi Final last Sunday?
Big-G,
:)
So Brian Laudrop is reported to have been in talks with greengo in relation to an Ambassador role…….must be to cater for the 500 million supporters, or, sally, could it be shoogly peg time LOL
an Ambassador at ipox ………. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
If, at the absolute minimum, t’rankers are not sanctioned in some way, then for all true football fans in Scotland, the game is over.
All we could hope for is to just go through the motions (much like Sunday), and find solace in the only seemingly fair arena left open to us, The Champions League.
(god, do I sound melancholic, or what?!)
Will Neilly reintroduce some young, hungry footballers for the game tomorrow night to try and give the team a lift or will he persist with his inconsistent favourites?

It’s a breach of SPL rules not FIFA Registration rules, so the penalties will be whatever they were at the time. (I don’t have a copy of to hand)
Take for instance Novo. Let’s imagine (…) he had a side letter to his contract, and the side letter was not lodged with the registration docs when he signed in 2004.
His club were breaking the SPL rules when Novo was winning the SPL title in May 2005. In May 2009, assuming he was still non-compliant with the registration reqs, he was ineligible to play. Two different matters.
There is a matter of course outcome for fielding ineligible players – the match is forfeited – but for failing to adhere to SPL Rules on player registrations there will be a range of sanctions to select from.
It is possible then that Rangers forfeit matches and therefore certain titles subsequent to May 2005, since forfeiture is the pro forma outcome for fielding inelgible players, but for rules breaches prior to that simply get a fine or reprimand as the breach of rules did not compromise eligibility.
That’s Judging for you I suppose.

Yeah Philbhoy
No more night clubs the night before said key matches and with a size 8 up ones
backsides with words stamped on it must do a lot better in future
As for your opinion about giving other players a chance I totally agree
with that but lets Mathematically tie up the SPL Title for another Season
& Then give the other players a chance to see what they can do/gel
After all the SPL is the bread and butter for getting a chance to play in the
Big Boys League (The CL) and obviously that’s where the decent shekels
are because it’s certainly not in Scottish Football in general Seco 5088
can testify to that matter from past dodgy dealings and living and operating
well with out of ones dodgy financial means
The other players can then slip back into the Night Club Hideaways providing
that they are not playing the day after against any given day opposition who
is going to be up for said encounter on the said given day in other words
it’s a no sleeping @ the desk shift it’s a wakey-wakey shift and all hands
to the pump if you catch my drift
Oh ho, ho

Re: Should We Expect To beat Dundee Utd?
Yes, yes we should.
3rd division or not we are Rangers and should expect to win every game.
Especially against a team like Dundee Utd.
…….
Re: Should We Expect To beat Dundee Utd?
I honestly don’t think we will be ALLOWED to beat them.
….
Re: Should We Expect To beat Dundee Utd?
If you look at the teams on paper, we should have a decent chance.
If you’ve watched us play this season, the answer is a clear No.
….
Re: Should We Expect To beat Dundee Utd?
We are rotten
We will not win

Thanks for your response.
I’ve been looking at the Companies House website for info, but it just tells you the basics.
Do you know of another website that would give you info on a company that would include other companies that it owned?

Has Hooper ever taken a penalty? I cant seem to recall him taking one and wondered why our best striker isnt taking them. If he has and has missed before then my memory is really starting to go.

the year of 1967 when the Hoops won the Big Ears Cup
I was about nine years old back then my late Father bless
him was not really a football man more of a gambler in
fact he was the first man I knew who set up a phone tab
with the bookies even back then anyway the night the
Hoops won the big Ears Cup my late father drove his
Car through his garage wall my late Mother bless her
nearly went into cardiac arrest what a picture to be
seen every picture certainly does tell a story he was
well pleased that Evening I can assure you of that of
said result and he did not care about the damage that
was done bless him

I remember him missing one, can’t mind who against, but he has def taken one and missed it.
GG 1253
I read that too-it’s not a defence, nor a call to arms. It’s an incitement to violence.
The usual retort from hurting huns-do you know who yer dealing with? WATP!!!!
Well, the peepil writing this stuff should be done for behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.
They will never accept any form of sanction against them, even to the extent of denying those which have taken place.
A few words I never thought I would type in this sequence – I agree with Charles Green – there.
On the subject of changing the prize midway through a season, he is absolutely correct. We should not be advocating – or indeed allowing – a change to the structure of Scottish football that comes into effect for next season. The goalposts are being moved and the prizes on offer are therefore changed after the first whistle.
I also disagree with the 12-12-18 format and the 8-8-8 evolution mid-season should be thrown out on it’s ear. Charles Green may have a woven in agenda, but he is right when he says this solution and the timing of it’s implementation are flawed.
On LNS, there is only one outcome that can be reached. It’s what follows via the SFA that is of more real interest.
Danso
CO should have stepped down for the good of the game not because he was guilty of anything.
As things stand he is still not guilty but if LNS say rules were broken and he was associated with both the club AND the association who allowed this fup to happen then he HAS to stand down as a guilty party.
He is the games top administrator yet took part in an aggressive tax avoidance scheme and made no attempt to check that football rules were being broken by the way it was being used.
If a guilty verdict is not a game changer in respect of CO we might as well roll over an become doormats.
Big G
Taken a few from memory and missed one. Stop changing the penalty taker. Pick one guy and keep him taking them.
Captain would take them for me but if a striker steps up so be it.
Samaras has only missed one of note and it was saved. maybe he should take them.
