Strachan lessons as Milan looms

1655

Neil Lennon will begin to get his players back at Lennoxtown tomorrow after, what for most of the first team, has been a two week international break.  For many of the established players, he’ll be hoping for a clean bill of health, but with trips to Tynecastle and Milan ahead, the manager will be keen to spend time with Teemu Pukki.

Teemu played 92 minutes for Finland in Tbilisi last night so will get little time on the training fields before Celtic’s next two games.  Tynecastle itself may provide the most effective training opportunity ahead of Wednesday’s game at the San Siro.

Delighted for Gordon Strachan, who has already caused an unlikely upturn in Scotland’s fortunes.  He is a better coach and tactician than he ever got credit for.  His Key Performance Indicators (winning leagues, knock out stages of the Champions League) were achieved in spades, but there was a soft underbelly which always seemed to undermine progress.  Curiously, his Celtic team went 15 months without keeping a clean sheet away from home in all competitions, despite winning the league in both seasons this run spanned.

The one game during this period of note was the 1-0 defeat to Milan in the Champions League knock out stage; the only game Celtic completed 90 minutes without conceding.  If Neil Lennon can replicate this achievement he stands an excellent chance of a second successive memorable Champions League campaign.

I had to re-mortgage my house and put my missus back on the game after spending a huge amount of time on the phone to the ticket line trying to get my big bro a ticket for the Juve game last season.

I never got a ticket and not so much as a biscuit from big Peter either.

It’ll be easy. Every single ticket can be traced to the purchaser. Anybody touting should have all there tickets removed and there season ticket suspended.

  3. All CL tickets sold.

  4. Obviously the SFA tried to bury the McInnes/Brown bust up due to the Black story.I think it is a scandal these 2 got suspended sentences when NL has had bans for much lesses offences.McInnes admitted after the game he lifted his hands during the incident.Lomas and Sheils were also whipping boys.Celtic should ask the SFA how they came to this decision but won’t hold my breath.Still at the back of the bus.

    4. One of the Murray Group companies was Rangers Football Club plc (“RFC”),

whose financial stability was known to be threatened by (among other things) tax debts,

or at least claimed tax debts. As is well known, RFC collapsed into administration in March 2012, followed by liquidation in October 2012. It has been re-named RFC 2012 plc. The greater part of its business, and with it most of its assets, were purchased from the administrators in June 2012 by Sevco Scotland Ltd, which has since been re-named The Rangers Football Club Ltd. Although the professional football team known as Rangers had played in the Scottish Premier League until 2012, the collapse led to the ejection of the team from that league, and a team known as Rangers now plays in the Scottish Third Division.

    27. Before coming to the detail of the case it is worth making a preliminary observation. I have referred above to the strong feelings of many football supporters. Perhaps because of such feelings, professional football clubs are often regarded as having

a special status. In some respects that may be the correct view; but it should nevertheless not be overlooked that a modern professional football club is not a “club”, in the sense of

an unincorporated association of members who join together in pursuit of a common purpose, but a commercial enterprise whose function is to generate profits for its shareholders. From that perspective it has no special status, and there is no reason why

its tax affairs should not be as open to scrutiny as those of any other profit-making organisation.

  8. Totaly understand VCLXI’s concerns but for everyone like his son who has missed out and goes to games there will be ten greetin faced dobbers who have not been this year but will complain none the less.

The phone in shows will be full of them all weekend.

    GIRUT,no sympathy from me.

My three boys all go to games but share two tickets so one of them will probably miss out.

Still awaiting his return from Celtic Park and the negotiation that will follow :-(.

    Get a season ticket CSC.

I understand your disappointment in not obtaining a ticket, but having a go at Celtic for not pursuing people selling tickets on ebay that have not even been placed on the site is beyond a joke.

If said tickets appear on ebay notify Celtic immediately, then if no action is taken then you have a valid complaint.

Ive calmed down …a wee bit but was to stop them putting a message stating sold out at the start of the call- theyvgave the technology – it’s not difficult – and I’d save time having to re-dial 18 times abd cost about a fiver overall

Anyway on the plus side – a sell out all 3 games

Just hope the bhoys abd ghirls standing in queues all got tickets ok- or at least advised when they were about to sell out.

    Shoukd be 3 cracking nites

And my daughter’s Morton brief just arrived by post – only a fiver – no sugn if the adult tickets but they sometimes don’t arrive same day

Enjoying Zadok ringtone btw – thanks for sending it. In Furniture shop on Monday, mate calls me …a few heids go up…growling etc., am I bad for letting it ring out before listening to tge VM?

The way to stop the sale of tickets is to have tickets printed with the individuals name on and require them to produce corresponding ID

    Bang on. .

There will be many good Celtic supporters who will not have obtained CL tickets, but the most deserving will get them.

The fans who put their hard earned cash , and time into supporting the club are rightly prioritised.

  13. I hear ye Timmy 7.

Every season book holder will have one though. Today was all about sb holders getting them for their mates.

  14. No chance of a ticket online or on the phone once again.

Fair play to season ticket holders who turned up this morning to get their tickets, however..

I don’t believe for one minute that the majority of those queueing were actual season ticket holders who got the email at 17.07 yesterday and quickly grabbed their boss to arrange a morning off.

A quick ID check would have sent most of those queueing home I reckon.

I know this is churlish but feels a bit wrong. I only hop that the student/unemployed lads who queued up for their mates at least got a ticket out of it!!

That’s not gonna work imo. Tickets get passed around busses by guys who can’t manage individual games and that’s not to mention the enormous queues that would occur.

But I’m with ye on the need to do something about touts and guys selling with huge mark up.

  18. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

Not as easy as that due to work/uni/playing footy etc,I only wish it was ;-)

My oldest has a big day tomorrow, first ever proper Scottish cup tie for Glasgow Uni v Gala Fary dean (I think),I’m sure he’d forego aCL ticket for a result in that.

  19. Bloody hell Celtic !!! I didn’t know those CL tickets were on sale and I’ve missed out. I ain’t been to a game for a wee while but I’m still a massive Celtic supporter. Suppose they did offer a reduced price season ticket but I had other stuff to get and I really don’t think season ticket holders should get any preference cause it disadvantages me. Selling the tickets on a working day too is rubbish. Don’t they think of the supporters ?

  20. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

However , allowing ST. Holders the opportunity to buy additional tickets as a priority is wrong

As was the case with the CL games last season …there will be large proportion of non CFC fans there

Many regular attenders who are non ST. Holders have been denied an opportunity …poor marketing again IMO

CFC need the weekly non ST revenue ….unwise to p1ss them off like this

Anyone else who gives the situation any thought reaches the inevitable conclusion that Sevco are a tribute act

There is no rational argument to the contrary …

  22. Henriks Sombrero on

So whats the odds on a Celtic ‘supporter’ calling Snyde tonight complaining about the sale of CL tickets ?

Odds on it’s the first call actually.

  23. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Geordie

They often do it in Europe …fans not allowed into the curtilage of the ground without ID

Also a facility is put in place to have the name changed …..it’s only three matches people will just have to organise themselves

  24. A fair way to deal with CL tickets is that once ST holders have had the opportunity to buy their packages (or individual games), those non-ST holders who attend on a regular basis should then be given an opportunity to buy on a first come first served basis. Not sure if a non ST holder buying an individual ticket at CP has to give their details (eg name, address, post code, mobile, email) but if they were then those who attended most could be contact via text/email and given the opportunity to buy tickets once ST holders have been given the opportnity.

I go to a lot of games down south (my work means i’m in the north of England most weeks) and without exception every game I buy a ticket for I have to give my details. As a result I am regularly contacted and given the opportunity to buy tickets for games.

  25. Never even got a sniff of a ticket for my pals!!!!

    Rubbish.

I have to say I have never known such demand for tickets.

What’s the odds on me and many CFC fans not listening to Snyde tonight …..heavy odds on
