Stressed out Clement flips title race to Celtic

179

Anyone can win when you are miles ahead and there is no pressure on, but winning when you can feel an opponent’s breath on your neck is far more challenging.  Celtic dealt admirably with the pressure on Saturday.

If anything, the wind was worse than at Ibrox six days earlier.  Playing against the breeze in the first half, Celtic struggled.  We knew how much was on the line at the interval.  These players – and manager – have been over the course before, however, and were able to cope with the situation.

Instead of containing emotions after his game in Dingwall yesterday, Phillipe Clement betrayed his own anxieties by leaving the pitch without shaking hands with Ross County manager, Don Cowie.  It’s not that Clement is rude, the defeat was just too much for him to process his emotions appropriately.  That is a perfect example of what happens when you are struggling to cope with pressure.

In his post-match interview, Clement had a ‘Don’t mention the War’ moment, saying that during the week, “everyone was busy with things outside of football, in the club”.  It is Clement’s job to make sure his players focus is exclusively on the football.  If this was not the case, it is his fault.  I can’t believe he said this on TV, the man’s mouth ran away with him, high on an adrenaline cocktail.

There is still a long way to go, so no celebrations here, but you should be encouraged by Clement’s very obvious reactions to stress.

  1. Good morning from a dry North Staffs.

I think Vale’s life in div 1 will end tonight – but I live in hope.

Started watching the Regime and even the gorgeous Kate Winslet wasn’t enough for me not to switch it off.

  2. Grand day in Corcaigh – a little brisk but still glad to be a Tim…

  3. If this shower give them 3 home games in the spot, like the Record is saying, time to down tools.

  4. We know the top 6, why wait on tomorrows game?.Dont trust the Bassas.I fear a stitch up,or some way to hinder us.Not normally paranoid, but fearing the Record have been leaked ,so they can have a few days to drip feed it out,and make a case for that mob to get another home game.

    We will see.

  5. How can the Gun have 3 home games there due to get 3 away ?

Other than the straightforward cheating explanation, this is not possible?

I see there’s a daily rag being mentioned on here and quite a few other blogs. Job done! por cierto”

Agreed. I am always disappointed when anyone gives ANY credence to MSSM `stories` concerning Celtic.

On another side note I have started to watch Dexter from 1st series as I never watched it when it was on.

After 4 episodes I am thinking of turning off.

    Anyone watched it?

    Does it get better?”

I think you’ve made up your mind already but I liked it :)

It’s not up there with The Wire, The Shield or even 24 for me, but I enjoyed it other than the ending.

  8. Can anyone explain these odds:

    Aberdeen v Celtic

    9/2

    7/2

    4/9

    Rangers v Hearts

    1/4

    9/2

    8/1

    ?

    We are top, Aberdeen are ninth;

Sevco are second, Hearts are third.

    Seems strange.

Aberdeen will try like hell against us.

Bookies know diets won’t try a leg against the hun.

  10. Morning all from a mental mild Kentucky. 85 degrees yesterday, 82 for next 3 days.

    Taps aff!

    That’s 28 in Scottish money.

  11. I’m convinced we’ll get Killie away then Huns as second game. They won’t want to run the risk of leaving rugby park too late given it could be a dead rubber for us should we take care of the rest of the games.

I’m not too bothered by the prospect of Rugby Park first then the Huns. For me, that would be the opportunity to take a strangle hold on the title.

  12. AN DUN

Which ever way it works out , whenever the Hearts game is they will play like their lives depended on it if its still in our hands ……

Nothing to play for in the league and pumped in the cup from their inbred relations that’s all they have left …..

    STOP THE GOOD GUYS .

Why would you take anythin what that hun bog roll writes? Are sales falling in the greater marmaris area like they are here?
