Stressed out Clement flips title race to Celtic

179

Anyone can win when you are miles ahead and there is no pressure on, but winning when you can feel an opponent’s breath on your neck is far more challenging.  Celtic dealt admirably with the pressure on Saturday.

If anything, the wind was worse than at Ibrox six days earlier.  Playing against the breeze in the first half, Celtic struggled.  We knew how much was on the line at the interval.  These players – and manager – have been over the course before, however, and were able to cope with the situation.

Instead of containing emotions after his game in Dingwall yesterday, Phillipe Clement betrayed his own anxieties by leaving the pitch without shaking hands with Ross County manager, Don Cowie.  It’s not that Clement is rude, the defeat was just too much for him to process his emotions appropriately.  That is a perfect example of what happens when you are struggling to cope with pressure.

In his post-match interview, Clement had a ‘Don’t mention the War’ moment, saying that during the week, “everyone was busy with things outside of football, in the club”.  It is Clement’s job to make sure his players focus is exclusively on the football.  If this was not the case, it is his fault.  I can’t believe he said this on TV, the man’s mouth ran away with him, high on an adrenaline cocktail.

There is still a long way to go, so no celebrations here, but you should be encouraged by Clement’s very obvious reactions to stress.

Thanks for that , didnt realise that we should’nt have to go and play on Killies plastic pitch but will “probably”play then at Celtic park which is a big plus.

You mentioned “I hope that it’s a simple 5 out of 5 wins for Celtic to get the league done! ”

Howver if we play Sevco as one of the first 4 games then its only 4 games to get the league done!

This match was played at Ibrox Park as Love Street was in the process of reconstruction. Ibrox itself was in a state of upheaval as the Copland Road stand was almost complete and that summer the Broomloan stand would begin construction. For this reason this was to be the last time that Celtic supporters would stand in their traditional ‘Celtic end’ on the old open Ibrox terracing before it was destroyed. This game was a postponed fixture from December and is another reason for the Ibrox venue.

  7. I think the reason being given for not announcing the fixtures, is that Dundee could possibly finish in 5th place, if they hammer the huns. You never know😁

  8. Not much rain forecast for Dundee in next 24 hours. I wonder how the pitch inspection will go and who will do it 🤔

I have a vague memory of going to see us play St Mirren at Ibrox. If it was indeed May 1979, then I was just approaching my 10th birthday – which would explain the vagueness of my memory lol

  10. SAINT STIVS, if it was your twin brothers birthday, should it not also be yours?

  11. A question for some one in the know.

#Why does Celtic use Parks of Hamilton when we know the links with the dark side, beyond me honestly.

There ARE other bus firms we could use, surely

Ffs 10? I was 21 when I went to the hun game. 10 men won the league.

If it’s true about the huns yellow card situation , I wouldn’t get too excited . The Mib’s will ensure that no cards are shown , even if they decapitate a Dundee player .

    but are there?

it is the biggest bus company in the country. anything happens to the team bus and they can have a replacement sent in jig time.
