Five years ago when CQN’er Kano was confined to hospital with a debilitating illness Pablophanque was first to issue the call, “We need to raise the money to bring Kano home”. In the weeks which followed the Bring Martin Home campaign launched. The campaign succeeded and then some; the Kano Foundation is its lasting legacy.
While working in Holland in May 2011 Pablophanque took ill suddenly and died a few days later, leaving two young-adult children to deal with matters a long way from home. As the news filtered through of his death, the call went out in the comments section here to raise money to bring his remains home. One day later Pablo’s son was told the money was there and to confirm arrangements.
Pablo’s estate has recently been settled and his son and daughter wanted to repay the generosity shown to them when they needed it most. Mary’s Meals are now in receipt of £4500 from them towards our CQteN Malawi School Kitchen Appeal. It is an enormous gesture by two young people and shows the level of appreciation they have to those who helped them in 2011.
Raising money is hard and I remember telling Pablo his idea was ambitious, to say the least. There has never been a spontaneous movement like Bring Martin Home and the Kano Foundation. Many of those who made the call for Pablo were inspired by Bring Martin Home. The cumulative impact of this generosity is quite stunning.
My thanks to Pablo’s son, daughter and brother for this fantastic support, inspired, as it was, by the wider Celtic community. I never use the ‘Greatest fans in the world’ line, largely as I don’t think there is much competition, but the Celtic support are among the finest human beings you could hope to meet.
Thanks also to everyone who booked a seat or table for the CQteN St Patrick’s Day Party at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday 14 March, where we hoped to raise the bulk of the money for the school kitchen. If you want know what it’s all about, read Friday’s article.

Now that is a good article, even….
We Celt…
No problem with that paragraph up to the ‘but’ in the middle….after that oh dear!
big nan,
I have to say, somewhat selfishly, that as I live here in Western Australia, I was happy to see Australia win back the urn here in Perth. Like you say, there is always something going on, we have seen multiple attacks on the bowlers during yesterday’s play, Lyon’s helmet being damaged, very good bowling as well as balls flying around of those massive cracks. I was lucky enough to be at days 1, 2 and 4 and thouroughly enjoyed it all, never expected to be spending most of day 4 with a fellow CQN’r talking about Celtic and drinking beer.

I see the Jeanette Findly,GB drum beating Uni. Brain washed mob are taking there orders and flooding the Celtic media blogs with there Hun driven hate for PL and the board, thems are infighting and making a complete arse of themselves this week, and your still banging on, enjoy the Huns civil war, take a couple of days off and enjoy yourself at Huns trying to save themsefs AGAIN, this anti board anti PL is Hun driven, make no mistake about that, prob. Makes Jack Irvine snigger and blush, real Celtic fans know the score, make no mistake about that either, do so at your pearl, HH, now go away and let us have our fun this week, or is it the Hun in you that just can’t help it?
Tony:
No, its the abject hypocrisy and summary ‘justice‘ we dislike.
If you insulted less and reasoned more you would be taken more seriously BTW…

Maybe I am old fashioned ar but there was a nasty edge to Aussie this time that stopped me from gloating at the comeuppance that England probably deserved. Mitchell Johnson’s sledging and Warners prior thuggish behaviour towards Root lost my support I’m afraid.
I was a big fan of John Arlott on commentary and would watch TV with sound down and BBC radio on.
Been round Aussie a few times on ships but only in WA once, Bunbury, which I didn’t know at the time was such an important place in Fenian history!
HH
Has there been an official response from the GB to the dispersal? I can’t recall seeing one.
tony,
Jeanette Findlay was a guest on another Celtic blog site yesterday and a number of questions were asked of her. John Paul Taylor was the guest on the same Celtic site last week. Both discussions with a panel of very intelligent and entertaining fellow Tim’s were well worth listening to. No agenda from either guests, just straight talking. As for brainwashing, well I’ll leave others to comment on that.

Good morning friends from a beautifully clear skied and understandably chilly – but dry – East Kilbride. The moonset is gorgeous!

Interesting that you suggest “this anti board anti PL is hun driven” and reference the influence of Irvine.
I think the MSM are driving an increasingly anti-Celtic agenda, probably aided by Irvine. But instead of fighting our corner, the board are coming up very much short.
It’s playing into their hands. I’ve already commented on it this morning, feel free to read back if you like. I’m not happy at being at odds with the board,I much prefer it when we are united as one.
But there are too many decisions and statements being made with which I cannot agree. That saddens me.
What saddens me even more is that I can’t even get angry about it any more. It’s happened so often in the last few years that I’m used to it.
Oh and a Big Happy CQN Birthday to ole Pope Francis!
big nan,
No argument there, I think even here in Oz, Warner would be considered a thuggish bogan. Mitchell Johnson has been on the wrong side of some shocking stuff from the Poms (especially the red tops) over the past few years, Craig McDermott has sorted him out and he is probably just giving a bit back.
I’m about halfway between Perth and Bunbury and I’m still learning about the escapees from Fremantle Prison who managed to get on the whaler Catalpa and head to New York, we have a pub in Perth called ‘Fenians’, probably named after those guys, that pub would last long in Scotland, I don’t think!

Finbogsson hasn’t ruled out a move to Celtic.. Unfortunately that ship has sailed we had our chance to buy in summer but instead we signed puukki, Balde and boerrigter! PL must stay!! NOT!
Good morning CQNers,
I’ve just had a look at the GB’s message at the Milan game.
This was a political statement and as such it was a deliberate and provocative decision by the head honcho’s of the GB to display it at a game under the auspices of Uefa, an organisation widely known to prohibit supporters making political statements at games.
What I can’t figure is the timing of the display.
Various sections of the support were in discussions with the club over various contentious matters – the arrests in Amsterdam, the arrests of GB members by police Scotland in relation to the Offensives behaviour at football grounds, the Canamalar AGM resolution.
With all this dialogue going on why did the GB take such a provocative action at that time and what was their objective?
The only clear consequence of their action was the fragmentation of the support, perhaps on reflection it is fair to question if that was the intention. Either that or it was an adolescent prank in conception and execution.
Also, what I’d like to know is just what the f*** is John Paul Taylor, Supporter Liaison and Service Officer doing?
Morning all. Dark and very cold down here.
Was out of the loop yesterday. Any good news?
Antipodean Red- Nearly 100 years ago the phrase “they said it would be over by Christmas” was born, still applies today, lol!
I note the BBC twitter just gave up reporting the score when the pom tail was chopped to bits. Good way to start a day.
Enjoy the celebration!
MURDOCHBHOY
I didn’t see the match. I caught up on it here before I started my nightshift.
The blog during a match frequently contains comments about the TV coverage as well as about the match.
When I left for work about 1130pm,I don’t think a word had been said about the banner. On here,in the press reports,on TV.
It had really started to get reported pretty soon after, though.
Maybe the head honcho in the GB went home after the match, realised that his defiance of UEFA was being overlooked and phoned some media contacts.
You’re right. These GB types are devious, and should be strung up.
Stop press
Peter lawell has woken up to the fact we had only one goalscorer last year and now realises we have none
On the 1st day of transfer window Celtic will sign finbogason for 5.5m
Oops. Woke up from that dream
Sad to see that so many on here are still promoting the nonsense that all the problems at Parkhead can be laid at the door of Peter Lawwell and the Board. The likes of the Celtic Trust and the Green Brigade are run by people who DO have their own political agenda and they are pushing it. That is Not the Celtic way. I hope to God it never is. We are inclusive and open to all.
I never had a problem with the bunnett, agathes crosses wee gordons boring treble neil lennons cup exits or peter lawwell despite his involvement in the syrian civil war the instability of north korea russia’s tyranical return to well tyranny and not using his crystal ball very well to tell if his scouts got it right. Amazing charity from Pablo’s family their generosity is inspiring and honours the Pablophanque the music mhan.
Morning cqn!
Havnt been on much lately due to heavy work schedule.. hope your all well!!hh
any news or updates on reso.12??
would like to say i wasnt happy on plc banning anyone until proving them guilty or innocent i think its been proved that 5 who were arrested were not members of the GB..the motherwell stuards and polis should take some responsibility for overcrowding and people in areas without the relevant tickets..imho
Stewards even lol..back to lurking

Didn’t know about the stuff from the Red Tops but just his sneering manner struck the wrong chord with me. Same with Warner if he had a go at one of the older and more arrogant pros like Peiterson then fair enough but to pick on the young lad was bullying and that put me off. Cricket wise though Australia were superb no doubt and the amber nectar will be getting big licks today I am sure and who could grudge the supporters their jugs of Swan or whatever.
I liked the Aussie’s for their individualism and lack of pomposity. I was in Sydney when the wharfies wouldn’t load a supply carrier for Vietnam. Couldn’t see that principled stance happening here and probably wouldn’t happen there now either.
Loved the story of Les Darcy and was very disappointed when I eventually managed to get the book “Home Before Dark” which was a bit dry and technical.
To the next test ar and more sleep disturbance.
H.H.
Cricket wise
Gennaro Gattuso placed under police surveillance and had his some searched after being accused of match fixing.

Morning all
Just a quickie afore I start to gaze longingly at the woman of my ( current) dreams.
I e-mailed John Paul Taylor on Friday regarding incidents outside the turnstiles at the Camp Nou and a specific incident inside the stadium. I’ll let you know if he replies and what he says.

To the cricket posters:
As has been mentioned earlier by others,I also am no fan of the sledge,no matter who happens to be the sledger.
The current mantra over here is that sledging has “always been part of the game.”
Not so,according to Ian Chappell, not known for his “after you,Claude” approach to the game.
He also disapproves of the practice.
Now there`s a turn up for the books.
What’s the odds on Malky (the alky) Murray turning up mad wi it at Thursdays AGM, an getting papped oot, ? Lol.
Macjay1
I actually rather like Chappelli but his team in the 70s did seem a bit , er, chatty. Especially a moustachioed bowler from WA. Memory playing tricks?

Late `40s,early `50s,they also refused to load Dutch ships with supplies for Indonesia(Dutch East Indies).
A bit “lefty” for my taste, but admirable in spite of that.
