There is worse to come

812

Neil Lennon said we didn’t deserve to lose 4-1, as we dominated large parts of the game against a team who have lost their last four games (not against Celtic), conceding 14 goals in the process.  But oh, Neil, we absolutely deserved to lose by at least that margin.

Our disorganisation is a marvel.  Scott managing to start his jump goal-side of a dropping ball and ending up wrong side.  Callum playing three onside.  Kris A. not committing to block the cross (forgiven, trying to cover two positions), Chris J. attempting to intercept with the wrong foot (forgiven, fitness).  Hatem reliving his Ferencvaros highlights.  Full backs who are never back and produce few assists; there is no defensive midfield, unless you count the goalkeeper who feels the need to leave his box and play that position, just a midfield of nomads.

The team is a collection of individuals unencumbered by a workable strategy.  Opposition managers have their game plan written: defend deep, play on the counter and put numbers forward at set-pieces.  If we could defend counter-attacks and corner kicks, we would be having a legendary season, but we can’t, so everyone looks awful.

In sport, if you have evident fatal flaws and persistently fail to resolve them, you deserve every setback that comes your way.  It is hard to recall a Celtic team that deserved to lose more.  Let me give you a cheery prediction, you will soon forget about last night, as there is worse to come.

  3. Well, a few days away from the Celtic WWW and I’m not feeling much better about things.

    Beginning to think PL is gonna let NL lift the quad treble and then he will walk away. Head held high. Who knows?

    For that to happen we need a win tomorrow

    By the way dint post your Sevco guff because if it was a new Klub … you wouldn’t all be shouting yourselves

  6. GFTB – I would love for NL to be lifting that trophy at the end of the season.

    I’m making no further judgement except to say I hope he proves me wrong.

    Auldheids comment on form earlier chimed with sonething I was talking to my daughter about and I said ‘form is temporary, death is permanent’ in relation to the current celtic situation.

    Tough times but the Celtic diaspora were made in hard times, made for them and forged by them.

    I sort of agree … apart from my 12yr old wee daughter (MissGFTB) has started to get more involved the more we don’t win…. the last two Sparta Praha games she had started shouting at the telly …. maybe losing football games is more of an attraction to the kids than winning all the time …

    Thanks for your response during the wee wee hours.

    Just one thing though, “Party to” is not a synonym for “privy to”. They do not have the same meaning. You are not the first and will not be the last to confuse the two but given that we are talking about an (enforceable) contract here (and one which appears in some way to have stymied your own efforts re Res 12) I would hope you would agree it is important to make that distinction.

    There were two Old Firm entities who were Party to the 5WA

    Celtic FC wasn’t one of them.

    ==================

    It is a distinction I forget to make but usually do to avoid clarifying the point you make, but privy to was based on the second document, not the first, that you were probably unsighted on so privy to at a crucila point is apt.

    However do you really believe Celtic had no part in deciding what direction had to be taken by the SPL?

    Did not provide Doncaster and McKenzie with a steer?

    I know full well Celtic were not a signatory and indeed defended them on that technical basis on CQN but I did not believe they had no input at all to the agreement until evidence they had turned up, strengthened by PL’s denial of any knowledge of the 5 Way during the 2019 AGM. Nearly fell off my chair when I heard him.

    Are you using semantics to suggest Celtic had no knowledge of the 5 Way Agreement?

    Are you suggesting that the agreement turned up out of the blue from Doncaster and Celtic accepted it without knowing its contents?

    Really?

    Are you saying that Celtic had no idea of the CAS clause in the 5 Way Agreement after it being mentioned to Riley in October 2013 before the AGM that sent Res12 down a CAS cul de sac?

    Have you read the Res11 AGM Notice that points out the consequences of that?

    The idea that Celtic had no idea and were not privy to what they were accepting is frankly absurd, unless we accept that they were grossly incompetent and never considered the impact on their support of accepting unknown terms, or did, but thought they could hide behind plausible deniability as a non signatory and pretend they were surprised by what emerged from what had been accepted

    Perhaps they were and really want to go over what they unknowingly accepted with the SFA in 2012, as is suggested in their Res11 response.

    If they do then and SFA don’t point out Celtic’s involvement and apologise for the exclusion I’d be happy to stand corrected.

    But considering HMRC have totally disregarded their Phoenix company rules … do you think it is in Celtic’s interest to hurt Celtic ?

  10. GFTB – Different club same bigoted cheats following them and same bigoted cheats protecting them.

    ================

    Practically I think it is in Celtic’s interest as the fox to stop offering the scorpion (rangers) a lift over the stream.

    For example there is an SPFL rule about reporting tax paid/not paid to SPFL.

    Some of the £9m arrears Rangers owed must predate Covid at March. Was it reported to SPFL? Did it ring any alarms? Are other clubs informed as insolvency elsewhere can effect them? Did Celtic say that’s a lot more than the tax arrears we have accumulated, when did they stop paying tax and why?

    If I were CEO I would be watching that mob like an eagle, not leaving it to bloggers., maybe they do but it would be good to see what effective steps are in place.

    Anything that requires the Board to mislead Celtic shareholders might be in the Company’s interests but not in Celtic’s long term term interests as a moral Celtic that most of us have supported all our lives disappears to be replaced by one we would not encourage our kids and grandkids to support.

    Ethics, morals, values are all part of what I thought Celtic stood for based on stories my dad told me.

    We lose those qualities and we lose our way.

    In the words of the song, you don’t know what you’ve lost til its gone.

    I have a few detractors in this site but I am trying my best not to get into tit for tat … your posts on here are magic and at times none of these clowns can even disagree …

    We (in Scotland) are living through Celtic fans who act like the Huns in the 90s … we have the most money so why are we not winning everything … someone’s “we” the majority of our fans maybe aren’t so different from their psi’s fae the south side :-)

    Mick …. I will still by Neil Lennon till I can’t stand … my colours are nailed to that mast …. if we don’t get the 10 my life will hopefully still go on … this Celtic team have gave me many many many terrific times … am sticking by them 🍀 and if they don’t win trophies this season … so be it

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    GFTB – thank you for your kind words earlier.

    Am not fully convinced Neil can turn this around but I think he’s earned the right to try.

    Of all the matches lately we haven’t won, the game that frustrates me most is not a heavy EL defeat but the 3-3 game at Pittodrie.

    If we’d dropped 3 points more than Sevco rather than five I think the mood would be different and we’d be chuffed at a rescued point at Easter Road having been two down.

    But it’s done.

    Next four weeks will be telling.

    I’m fervently hoping we can play our way in to form and confidence.

    BTW – agree with you 100% re Forrest. We are definitely missing him.

    Shock horror Celtic board want a form of the Rangers ….

    I know CQN is probably 50+ but I can assure you 99% of Celtic fans that attend home & away (not your am a season ticket holder( want a form of the Huns … that’s a fact …. if you really think they are a new club why are you so worried about a new club winning the league ??? Would they not be a good thing ?

  23. Morning Mick are you heading back to Mickey Bourke’s for Guinness ? Wish I could join you for a few jars of the Black stuff , I googled that pub earlier it looks a nice establishment, enjoy being back in Koroit HH ! 🇮🇪🍺🍺🇮🇪😎😎

    What would be a satisfactory end game for your good self ??

    Fitba is riddled with dishonesty from cheating at thrown ins to trying to get away with elbowing a fellow human in the gub … every football “gravy” train is corrupt …. I can assure you nothing will ever happen to the “Gers” am quite content knowing they are cheating baw stewards … but the Celtic board probably think they are a bigger asset than a liability in the ole balance sheet … many many Celtic fans want a Hun to go up against

    No need to apologise, in light of all your efforts over the years.

    Still a lot of unanswered questions.

    Some by the SFA

    ====================

    It never occurred to me you might be and now you have expanded I’m happy to reply again as it is a good question.

    The answer is Celtic can not approach HMRC direct but the SFA can and have the authority from any club applying for a UEFA licence to do so to seek answers.

    As a member of the SFA Celtic can ask if they are carrying out their licensing duties properly including establishing from HMRC if what they have been told about the status of any tax liability aligns with HMRC’s view.

    In 2011 for example had that been done HMRC would have responded it was a liability, it is now a payable and the conversation is about collection no dispute remains.

    The authority to do in 2011 is in h of para 43 of UEFA FFP

    h) It authorises the competent national club licensing administration and

    national club licensing bodies, the UEFA administration, the Club Financial

    Control Panel and the UEFA Organs for the Administration of Justice to

    examine any relevant document and seek information from any relevant

    public authority or private body in accordance with national law;

    It makes sense of course as HMRC don’t want to be misrepresented and if the power is used by SFA it stops fraudulent statements being used to avoid UEFF FFP rules on overdue payables.

    According to The Board response to Res11 procedures have been tightened up over the years. It would be useful if they were published.
