CELTIC were under awesome pressure from all angles after two consecutive stumbles in the 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock and the 2-0 defeat from Hearts at Parkhead a week later.
Back-to-back failures hadn’t been anticipated as Brendan Rodgers’ side seemingly headed uninterrupted towards their twelfth title in 13 years while leaving their rivals in their slipstream.
Remarkably, after a double setback, they were being written off in some quarters.
Today, as we enter the first day of the winter break, the champions are eight points ahead at the Premiership pinnacle although admittedly their nearest challengers have two games in hand. Although, as we all know, nothing should be taken for granted in this league.
Rodgers’ men kicked off the fightback to answer their critics with a 2-0 home win over Livingston, a 3-0 success at Dundee, a 2-1 victory in the derby at Parkhead at the weekend and a 3-0 triumph away to St Mirren last night.
Ten goals scored, one conceded and 12 points secured.
You win championships with consistency like that.
The three-goal romp in Paisley is worth a second look courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
