Whyte opens door on finances as securitisation confirmed

991

Craig Whyte laid out Rangers finances in a statement today, released in response to the Daily Record’s series of articles on the club this morning.  Whyte explained Rangers operating costs are around £45m while their income is approximately £35m, adding that the club needs to “live within its means”.

He confirmed the central allegation from the Record, that Rangers have securitised income from future season ticket sales in order to provide money for the club to pay its current costs, while denying they owe £5m VAT.

I have refreshed the page several times since an initially read and see no attempt to address the glaring question, if Rangers are spending tomorrow’s income today, what happens tomorrow?  It beggars belief that someone thought it was a good idea to confirm a fact like without addressing the enormous question now hanging over the club.

Maybe an octopus ate Craig’s homework.

I’ve no idea how much money Rangers have in the bank right now, at this time on transfer deadline day, no one even seems to know if they have sold prize-asset, Jelavic, to Everton, but no matter how much of the securitised income remains, if this is not a dead parrot, it’s in severely poor health.

More power to you, Craig.  I’ll not have a word said against you.

Some heads in the sand, some fearing the worst, some blaming Whyte, Murray, AJ in fact only Broxi Bear escapes blame. Much comment that it’s all the work of a taig press. Some suicidal.

  5. Reports from Ibrox that Ally McCoist has tried to jump out of the transfer window but has only succeeded in getting himself stuck. Sources say it may take some time to dislodge him so there will be no more comings or goings in this window.

    That’s that then. :)

  8. Hi all, Just a quick visit as my eyesight and concentration causes me some problems. (I also have short term memory loss which has come in really useful when the question of ‘so whose round is it now?’ arises. I have perfected the ‘blank-stare into an imaginary dimension somewhere behind the puggy machine’)

Anyway a quick glance suggests that things may be afoot or I could have read it all wrong. But I have noticed that Murray, The media, destruction, finances and general decomposition of the life support system down Ibrox way seems to be in the news.

In January 2008 I drafted a wee article for ‘another place’ which I came across the other day while looking for my football boots, doctor’s line and map to get to Leverndale.

Not all of it was right, relevant, coherent or even legible (drink may have been involved). But if you have a wee bit of time on your hands while awaiting the next big signing or aftershock from the Copeland road end of Hades you might while away a few minutes looking at my Nostradamien-like predictions.

  9. As a rule I don’t listen to phone in’s, I’m making an exception tonight – side splitting stuff on Clyde, “where’s the money”, one deluded hun after another! I caught the first few minutes of the real radio one, I though BFDJ was going to greet.

The champagne is on ice, to be fair I have had a bottle in the fridge for years waiting for the day maggie dies but I guess the death of the huns will do as nicely!

  10. There has certainly been some good pieces of transfer window business for the Celtic. Decent work by Lennon and Lawell etc.

Forward James Keatings and Defender Toshney going out on loan to Premier League clubs should also hopefully prove to be good business if they gain game time at this level.

Best of luck to the pair of them.

On a side note, spare some sympathy for the Loyal troops of Darkness. Jeez what a state some of them are getting themselves in. I mean how would you feel if your Chairman had flogged the next 4 yrs worth of Season Ticket money and sold possibly your most valuable asset for a great deal less than the £18 mill they led you to believe they would get for him and still face a massively bleak financial black hole and a minor wee HMRC £40 mill + bill. (Well if they love their Queen so much they should pay their dues!)

Me and few of the bhoys thought about our clubs charitable roots and thought we would have a wee whip round for the unfortunate un-enlightened Orcs. Following our celebratory deadline day round of champers and whisky chasers, we all dug deep and came up with beginnings of our Rangers Relief Fund – tote = SFA

  11. I have long given my grim predictions of Rangers demise.

I was laughed at 10 years ago when I predicted that THEY would go bust.

AJ also tried to paint a rose tinted picture in regards to Rangers finances pre takeover saying the bank was happy. He then realised he was telling a whopper of his own & backtracked. Perhaps I’m paranoid but I believe this has all been orchestrated from the beginning. Whyte is and has always been a patsy, his tenure will be seen/reported as a mere blip in the history of Rangers. Once the club is bust a new white knight (perhaps and old one) enters all will be wiped clean & forgotten. Rangers 2 will be born & voted straight into the league. Some form of penalty will be applied that will amount to a slap on the wrist & newco will be free and clear. Craig Whyte will be long gone & forgotten about by then, only plus a few million for his troubles.
