You did this in 2013

1233

Yet again during 2013 we asked you to put your hand in your pocket and you responded as only Celtic fans do.  You raised £6000 before and during the focus of our summer fundraising activity, the annual golf day.  £4500 of this went towards the 1254125 Appeal, which during the year did an enormous amount to anchor the club and support right back to where we came from.  Clic Sargent, who help children with cancer, also benefited at that time.

Thanks also to those who sponsored my 10k at the Great Scottish Run in October to the tune of £1552.  Times remain tight for many, so I the value of your support.

Perhaps the biggest response all year came from the commitment we made to Mary’s Meals to build and kit a kitchen at the Kholoni Primary School in Malawi.  1200 kids are registered at the school but there are no catering facilities, so students go hungry, or simply don’t go to school at all.  Pablophanque’s family sent on the £4500 support they received in 2011 to the appeal, while 470 people booked a seat at the CQteN St Patrick’s Day dinner, with more on the waiting list.  The work we’ll achieve in 2014 will be incredible.

This place can stress and annoy sometimes but it has become a great window into the soul of the Celtic support.

Have a great Christmas and thank you for all your support.

When I took my cat from my dad as he found him hard work, my daughter said she would stay at her friends until I got rid of it.

That was a year ago, now the Caesar ( the cat) can’t move for the attention from my seventeen year old daughter.

The DR is very selective when it comes to food bank stories, just like paper’s the coverage of football stories.

Hope you had a good Christmas.

  10. Good Afternoon from a gloriously sunny South Staffordshire.

Glad to see everyone supporting our CQN family members who were struggling yesterday.

Paul67 ,I know I’m a Johnny Come Lately to your blog, but you should be genuinely proud of what you created all those years ago.

Had a booze free Xmas day for the first time since 1994,yesterday and it felt kinda strange but kinda good.I didn’t fall out with anyone and everyone seemed to be talking to me this morning.Drinking too much stuff at the weekend which I obviously couldn’t handle and said some terrible things I regretted , to the people I love most in the World. The look of disappointment on their faces on the following morning still haunting me.Will let them enjoy Xmas and new year in the knowledge I won’t embarrass them by saying something insulting to friends or relatives.Wine and spirits are definitely not for me,never have been.looks like Guinness is the winner from 2014 onwards.

What a great blog where we can support the Hoops and,at the same time, express our feelings on other issues to kindred spirits.

Travellerbhoy…..Good Luck and God Bless in your struggles mate….Keep on Keepin’ on …We all have demons and need support at some point to deal with these.

“Not bought or read it for about 10yrs”

I stopped buying it in the early 90s along with its sister paper.

We get it delivered to work and when I’m bored I flick through it for a laugh.

I’m not sure it will exist in traditional form five years from now.

  23. Willie Miller was one seriously under rated player in my humble opinion.

He also was a fantastic referee but we didn’t appreciate that in the Jungle back then, lol.

If Fergie had gone to ManUre 3 years earlier then Willie would also have been a great player down here.

So glad he never went to Deadclub when he was in his prime.
