You did this in 2013

1233

Yet again during 2013 we asked you to put your hand in your pocket and you responded as only Celtic fans do.  You raised £6000 before and during the focus of our summer fundraising activity, the annual golf day.  £4500 of this went towards the 1254125 Appeal, which during the year did an enormous amount to anchor the club and support right back to where we came from.  Clic Sargent, who help children with cancer, also benefited at that time.

Thanks also to those who sponsored my 10k at the Great Scottish Run in October to the tune of £1552.  Times remain tight for many, so I the value of your support.

Perhaps the biggest response all year came from the commitment we made to Mary’s Meals to build and kit a kitchen at the Kholoni Primary School in Malawi.  1200 kids are registered at the school but there are no catering facilities, so students go hungry, or simply don’t go to school at all.  Pablophanque’s family sent on the £4500 support they received in 2011 to the appeal, while 470 people booked a seat at the CQteN St Patrick’s Day dinner, with more on the waiting list.  The work we’ll achieve in 2014 will be incredible.

This place can stress and annoy sometimes but it has become a great window into the soul of the Celtic support.

Have a great Christmas and thank you for all your support.

  1. nakasammi. I started supporting celtic in 79. My first final was in 85 when Danny was the captain. In the united end with my bro but we weren’t the only ones : ) magnificent servant. I’m a bit jealous now that you played at paradise.but I’ll get over it : )

  2. travellerb hoy , post to you at end of last page.

Re stepping onto the hallowed turf – Kingoh of this parish and myself were interviewed for CelticTV when we launched The Kano Foundation in 2010. As i was being questioned by Gregor Kyle , I nervously stepped from side to side and placed 1 (admittedly size 11) trainer-shod foot onto the grass .

Immediately one of the ground staff , from a distance of about 50 yards let out a “Oi , you – get aff the $%^&in pitch” .

    Thanks for your post.

Here we have a guy competing in the World Cup finals next year. I just hope he is offered a decent deal to extend his contract. One that reflects the commitment he has shown us.

Also, how much would we have to spend to get a player with big Sammi’s experience on a European stage?

If a team like Barcelona put three men on you, you’re a player!

    That really says it all.

I remember seeing Lenny quoted as saying,in response to a question about successful decisions he had made the previous season:

    “Persevering with Sammi.”

  9. annabhoy and 2000 kids say hail hail to pablo’s family. In 1984 me my wee bro and 4 others from the home we were in in Dundee decided to go to Glasgow for the day( 3 Tims and 3 o them). The oldest was one o them and he was supposed tae be in charge ; ). The fist place was ipox but haha the janny wouldn’t let us in. So we insisted we go to paradise. This was in the days before official tours and lo and behold we were made most welcome : ). The doorman couldn’t have been nicer and let us walk about unattended but said don’t go on the pitch. Of course we followed the rules not : ) bits of the pitch still grow in ann st Dundee to this day. The oldest and so called leader tried to steal a medal fae the trophy room which wasn’t in a cabinet. We soon put him right and told him he was getting grassed : ). Kinda makes you realise why they are in this position : )

  13. A belated Merry Christmas to all on CQN. I hope the upcoming year is a good one for all that frequent these pages.

And a special mention to Paul67 for having such a good site for so many people to enjoy. This site is to be cherished.

I hope the Celts put on a 5 star show today and that there are a multitude of flags at the game. I sincerely hope there are no pyros at all and maist importantly, I hope all Celts get home safe and sound despite the obvious trap that has been set.

  17. travellerbhoy,

I split up from My Sons Mum when he was very young, it is without a doubt the worst thing I have ever had to do but we were both wrecks and we both agreed it was the right thing to do.

I’ve no doubts now, we are both good people, it is just Life and the pressures they put on you, the most subtle ones that are the worst to deal with. I certainly wasn’t a good person back then, I’d been dragged into hell basically because I started loving the parties at the weekend and all that ECSTACY vibe, I loved it a bit too much. One thing I do know there was a wee olde Lady frae Bellsmyre, a Mrs O’Hara and my Mum were praying for me Religiously. I can understand My Mum doing that, certainly, I didn’t understand Mrs O’Hara doing it for someone she had never met.

Me and the wee chaps Mum now get on very well, although she has had to be patient with me and she’d unlikely say the same, well maybe now she would. ;)

We are both very proud of the Son we have together, I get him later in the evening every Christmas and although it is disappointing not being there as Christmas day dawns, I was more than elated when I picked him up and he was excited.

We are all gods children but you avoid travelling people like the plague. A bit contradictory don’t you think. I seem like a good spud. Why. Because you communicated with me you obviously judge people I thought only God could do that
