  1. Ray Singh-Carr on

We played well for most of that match against a team that cost multiples of what we cost. Unfortunate for Efe that his first mistake let them back into the game but other than that he acquitted himself reasonably well. Where is Simunovic and why does he keep getting injured when he plays so little football? All our expenditure eggs in one basket methinks. Still hopeful that we can string together enough decent performances to get out of this group and young Tierney was the icing on the cake on a reasonably decent night.

  2. Disappointed.

Felt like a rerun of Malmo game.

We can be two very different teams in the space of 90 minutes…

Oh well, Broonie MotM by a country mile.

Johansen is like a man down, Effe at least showed mistakes and all

    —————–

It’s a crazy game, Broonie was excellent, yet to nit pick he gave away the ball for the corner (poor pass) then was the player on the near post where the goal went in. But he was excellent, and showed more pace and drive than I’ve seen from him this season (and for a lot of last)

  4. Dexter says PAY THE LIVING WAGE CELTIC PLC on

    2-2 FT.

CG- Not too much to do. Nearly sold jerseys with unnecessary rush from line 7/10

DB- One of his best performances so far 8/10

EA- Cannot play again. Sad, but true. Can I do minus numbers?

    ML- Always showing 7/10

CT- Wasn’t great start but grew into game 6/10

SB- Brilliant first half. Not as good 2nd, some poor passes but at least trying (see SJ) 7/10

NB- Quiet enough. Couple of tasty contributions but overshadowed by SB 6/10

KC- A rose amongst thorns. Consistently proves worth in Europe. Wish we had him 5 years earlier. 8/10

JF- Getting more consistent. Still runs into some blind allies, but definitely improving. 7/10

SJ- Imposter. If you get 1/10 for starting, he gets 0 cos he got booked.

LG- Fit as a flea. Must have covered some ground. Took goal well 7/10

RD- Dunno why was a sub in 90th minute when it was a game we perhaps had to win. Should have hooked SJ earlier- in fact, on current form, Rogic should have started. 6/10

  5. A draw i’ll do for me, although i thought after the 1st 40 min’s we were gonna murder them.

Again a word of warning for those travelling to the Bul………………….stay in numbers because they are animals.

  6. 2nd top, above the 2 teams that were supposed tae win it. Molde old dough up next home and away and the dikepluggers at home before we go tae the Turkey shoot. So still all tae play for.

More important game away tae Hamilton and FCM before that.

  7. Weaknesses highlighted again, we were the team that didn’t look like losing though. Still we look disjointed at times. John Kennedy wheeled out tomorrow? Three points once again were ours to grab! Overall a good performance.

As KC says we have to “sharpen up”

2-2 draw if you’ve been 2-0 down is a good result. 2-2 draw if you’ve been 2-0 up is a poor result.

Whether it’s Kilmarnock, Malmo or Fenerbahce, the fact we can’t close out games is a worry.

The fact we don’t seem to be learning is even more of a worry.

  9. “Celtic don’t have the technique of some of these top teams, so they have to work harder”. WGS.

  10. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Ronny’s teams couldn’t keep weans oot a close. Same story every time in Europe. His record there is very poor. His teams leak goals under little sustained pressure. We are not progressing under Ronny. He’s a naive dreamer. Thinks he’s got Cannavaro when he’s actually got Ambrose. I don’t think he’s got it or ever going to have it. Love his ideas, but he can’t deliver them. Still, I’m less worried about him than I am about Desmond and his lap dog Lawwell. Could they be any more disinterested and complacent? I still can’t get over Desmond’s comments on the Huns. Paul dismisses them almost as an eccentricity, but they’re much more worrying than that. This guy calls the shots and his world view is completely at odds with the fan base’s. And he doesn’t give a flying fig.

  11. Tet

Can’t blame the coach for the mistakes but you CAN blame him for continuing to play a player who COSTS us games. How Ambrose finished that game

Me I don’t know. We all KNOW he’s going to feck it up.

  12. a light insanity on

Disappointed but there were many good passages of play Brown was excellent and Forrest does things very well.

Doubtless there will be the usual confidence drainers on picking on Ambrose and the usual targets. I imagine these must be people who perform at the top of their game at all times and are leaders in their field….

  13. For a team fielding a defence that have NEVER played together I thought we did OK.

I’d be pissed off if I’d spent multi-millions during the summer and your striker is covering in defense – Van Persie twice.

Their 2 goal scorer embarrassed himself with his clash with Broonie, holding his face afterwards.

Congratulations to young Tierney, excellent 1st Euro performance.

  14. 31003 on 1st October 2015 10:11 pm

At 2-2 we should be going two up front….no excuses

    ———–

So why at 2-2 should we be going two up front?

  15. Bizarre, very bizarre….after 55 minutes I would have bitten my own arm off for a draw. Some great performances Tierney, Brown, Lustig and Forrest…Commons just behind them.

Poor Efe, a composed start turned to rat shit in two minutes. To be honest the second I saw the size and physique of the sub coming on I predicted he would score…clever bas@a@d am I not, he is the type of player who dominates our defenders.

We need to grow up, we need some experienced guys in to help us out.

  16. Light insanity.

Sorry for being a confidence drainer…lets play efe every game…..no matter what…in fact…lets hand the league to whoever and just withdraw from the Europa league…

  17. 3sie

Enlighten me on the defenders we have then

We sold a settled defence, bring in an untried in Boyata, and Jozo at the last minute, who is now injured, seems like he really didn’t have too much choice.

It was individual mistakes that cost us, not a team thing, the coach is not to blame imo for those.

  18. the glorious balance sheet on

Are we seeing any palpable signs of progress under Ronny? I don’t think so.

For the seventh time in little over a year we were in complete control of a European match/tie, only to collapse and throw it all away.

Maribor, Salzburg away, Astra away, Zagreb away, Malmo, Ajax away and now fenerbahce. This guy is not learning from previous mistakes and experiences. This poor big game management is compounded by his strange forays into the transfer market that squander our scarce financial resources ie of his 16 signings for Celtic, only one (boyata) started tonight.

Injury accounted for Armstrong and simunovic I grant you that, but that would have been 3 out of his 16 signings at most that have a claim to be established first picks in what in my view is the poorest Celtic team in 20 years. So not only is he repeatedly poor at managing big games out he is ropy in the transfer market.

If ronny Deila is still on the premises next summer spouting his guff about “learning”, “judge me next year” “Dermot is inspirational and knows so much about football” then not only will there be no CL football for Celtic, suspect we could well be put out of both the CL and the el at the qualifying stages. But Sevco will be on the scene so Dermot Desmond won’t be too concerned.

  19. The Comfortable Collective on

So I had £40 on Celtic to win at 6/4.

Who do I write to at Celtic to claim my money given the bookies wont pay out, but we all know if Ambrose wasn’t a fuckwit and hadn’t made an arse of it, then the game would have been 2-0 at half time, Celtic would have went on to win.

I assume although I don’t get my £100, that Efe will get paid his wage (Conservatively estimated at £400,000 per year).

  20. Captain Beefheart on

    What can you say?

Love Efe but I love many people. Taxi. Too much ineptitude.

Usual Euro shambles at the back.

Some played very well. Grif can do it at this level.

Blackett and Cifci Illustrate the abysmal transfer strategy. Thankfully all of the sides in the group are guff.

  21. The huddle

To attempt to WIN the match rather than settle for a draw….our games seem to be based on damage limitation rather than winning

  22. A complacent and arrogant board.

A clueless manager(says he is happy tonight).

    No strategy on the field.

They Want the return of racism.

    They have ruined Celtic.

    —————-

We were 2 nil up while playing 1 up front??

We were on the rack at 2-2, we were mote likely to lose the game than win it at that stage.

And your great tactical insight at that point was to throw on Ciftci?

  24. No doubt efe will be getting slated. More to the point… it’s a TEAM performance. .. I’m sick of losing 1 and 2 goal leads… tighten up Celtic.

2-0 up we should be winning the game… goes back to Kilmarnock. .. sort it out

    Hail hail

  25. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Tet

    Same as you

However …can the manager afford to play some one who makes as many mistakes ….on the other hand replacing VVD and Denayer with Boyata and Jozo is asking a lot

  26. I’ve been very critical in the past but I thought were excellent for long periods.

I am not sure I have ever seen us pass the ball so well in Europe. Yes, we made mistakes but the style was good. Individual players can be replaced but I’m not sure I’d want us to go back to a more pragmatic approach.

KT, Broonie, Dedryck and Nir were all terrific.

Slightly concerned by Craig Gordon’s form of late.

Kris was on form and I thought Blackett looked comfortable on the ball but very nervous when defending.

  27. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

Yet again, yet again we let a lead go. How many times now?

I like Ronny’s philosophy with us, fitness, high-tempo pressing, speed of passing, but FFS, he needs to learn how to close out games. How many times now have we been ahead and ended up losing or drawing? Cost us a place in the CL apart from anything else.

Well done to Tierney. Glad he had a good game by all accounts.

Away to stick my head in the fridge.

  28. A light insanity

How the hell do you drain a player’s confidence by posting your honest opinion on a blog??

If someone makes a bad pass, should we say it’s a good pass in the extremely unlikely event that they log on to read back the live updates?
