  1. Cultsbhoy – what did Ronny do that was naive tonight mate?

    Genuinely interested.

I don’t recall us defending poorly bar two mistakes by the same player. I’d certainly have picked that player based on the squad available.

  2. TET

They were absolutely on the money, of course!

    I was joking, but don’t do the smiley, so. . . .

  3. If we continue with EA at centre back then we will be always be having days and nights like this.

He has to go, no more excuses open your eyes ,stop defending him he is useless .

  4. Brown our best player by a mile. Well done captain.

Craig Gordon seems to need a rest. Confidence has gone for some reason.

Off the pitch I found myself agreeing with everything Chris Sutton said. He is growing into a great analyst /commentator.

Was Van Persie on the pitch?

  5. After match day two, Celtic unbeaten by joint favourites for the group.

Poor mistake by Efe Ambrose allowed Fenerbache back to where they shouldn’t have been, no point in dwelling on the howler though, Celtic didn’t, and you could direct your pique in plenty of places such as Dermot Desmond or elsewhere especially this week. It’s not any Celtic players fault, that Jozo Simunovic isn’t fit enough to wear the jersey, or that the club doesn’t have another CB, having loaned out Eoghan O’Connell

Pleasantly surprised to see the same players firing, after one misfire after another on Saturday, and thought Celtic were fitter than the Turkish champions, who in the end were happy with a draw having brought on a defender, and seeing Celtic recover from the shock of losing a two goal lead.

Scott Brown ran the midfield and Kris Commons showed his class all night, James Forrest was again a handful on the left , and chased back superbly to prevent the counter attack down our right.

Boyata was solid as a rock along with Lustig, and Ronny Deila got the selection team selection sock on , where his knowledge and familiarity with his squad was demonstrated in Keiran Tierney’s superb European debut.

It should be Tom Rogic again in the midfield, both he and Stuart Armstrong are bound to return in Hamilton, on Sunday.

    M.O.M. Scott Brown.

    The huddle

And you would be a great coach….in fact…who are you coaching now?

    —————————————

Fenerbache, I learn from my recent mistakes.

But behave, I’m not suggestion formations or lecturing professional coaches, I’m agreeing with the majority of top coaches across the world, it’s hardly radical thinking. You on the other hand are arguing the opposite to all those top coaches.

  7. a light insanity on

    Beatbhoy

My comment was not about the blog but about how comments spread. 2 individuals behind me comment in a pathetically personal way on Forrest all the time. Their view is validated/ created by those on here who adopt these tactics.

  8. Yet again it was disappointing to drop points when in control of another European game but, then again, how many times in recent years have we actually been in control in Euro games? So maybe there is progress after all. I thought we played some good stuff at times and I think we’ll get even better if we cut out the silly errors.

  9. Gerryfaethebrig on

Off to man kip, but love the opinions….

    My tuppence worth

    Biton mingling in 1st half

    Johansen minting the full game

    Brown outstanding

    Efe poor judgement 1st goal

Lustig poor judgement at 2nd goal (too happy just putting ball for corner)

    Tierney, well done young man

Boyata, great game, could have covered our Efe at times but this will come

All in all, another performance that promised so much but still delivered something, building blocks and the road to Basle is still in its early stages…..

Euro also rans…. By the way Van Persie, Nani, Meirelles and others were on the park tonight along with Efe, young Tierney and wee Forest, still think Broony was excellent

    Good night and take care

(Ronny unbeaten in the Europa league and we are into October, the EL started in June)

  10. TGBS

Pedro gives the scouting team a budget, the scouts scout the players within that budget, the coach is given a choice of who the scouts have scouted, that is as far as the coaches influence goes.

It has been happening long before RD got the job, I am only surprised that so many think the coach actually has much of a say.

We have been attempting to emulate foreign clubs for some time, our problem has been we didn’t appoint a director of football to oversee things, I am delighted the club are doing this, it makes no sense employing a coach who buys his team, they bomb, and the coach is binned and the same happens all over again, that is financial folly.

As for the coach, he was the cheap option, he does his best.

  11. the glorious balance sheet on

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Kieran Tierney get a run of games in the team. Would be a good shout to play him ahead of izzy in the first league game back after the next round of internationals enabling izzy to recuperate from his travels on duty with Honduras.

  12. Delaneys Dunky on

Just hame fae the game. Thought we did as well as we could against a high quality team.

2-2 against the Turks is a good result.

    Hail Hail

  13. Just back from the game and it was soooooooo frustrating.

Yes, there was lots of good play and, yes, I feared we could get ripped apart by experienced players and their superior speed of thought.

Instead, a gallus standard was set by Scott Brown and he inspired several others to step up and we took a 2:0 lead.

I love big Efe and I will join in no witch hunt but that was a HUGE error before half time. Their second goal was a big disappointment but was not in the same league as the first.

In a 6 game European group you will always have off nights. That is why you must take your 3 points where you can. We blew away 2 points in Amsterdam, which is understandable in an away fixture but it is much harder to understand how we blew 2 points away tonight.

We must now do what Scottish teams find difficult. We must play well home and away against the so-called minnows. I doubt we will find Fenerbache as soft a touch in our final qualifying game so we have to do the business right up to the home fixture with Ajax.

    Exciting times but so frustrating.

  14. I was worried for Tierney tonight, but he done well and Boyota, Biton, Forrest and Brown covered well for him. He’s only 18 but he got forward and linked up well while concentrating on defence.

  16. a light insanity on

Hmm I offered a debating point and you sir ask me to “take a hike”? 310003

I suggest to the house that debating is not your forte. Perhaps you should stick to level 2 coaching of debaters?

  17. 31003

No I’m not ‘aving a larf’ I thought we played well tonight, did you not then?

It seemed to me we were trying to win the game, did it not to you when we were all over them for the last 20 mins?

It’s not surprising that they had a spell after we’d gifted them 2 goals in 10 mins in a game they were out of, the way we regrouped and came back at them showed an impressive level of maturity.

It’s not ronny’s fault that Simunovic was crocked.

Would you like to turn off the default setting of negative sarcasm and give a measured view of the game?

  18. It was a good game.

    Fenerbahce have millions over us.

We have a chance of qualifying.

I did not see the game v hearts but fromCQN and elsewhere Efe had an early howler which was not costly but then went on to be MOTM.

I saw tonight’s game and he was the catalyst for a Fenerbahce revival.

Sometimes he gets away with it but seldom at this level.

Howlers should be once in blue moon not every other game.

  19. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Bournesouprecipie…..

You put it better than me but agree with your whole post

Good night n God bless fellow Celtic fans

  20. Thought Scott Brown had as good an individual performance tonight as any Celtic player for the last decade. His influence was huge and he led by example. He was the reason we didn’t lose tonight. He also nursed effe and boats through the first half, which was needed. Until effe’s moment, obviously.

Boyata played well tonight. There might be a player in there after all.

Nobody died, we got a point and we will beat Molde.

    Disappointing though.

  21. Just back, what a great game of football. Ebbed and flowed from start to finish. Celtic were as good in the first half as we were v Malmo at CP, then we were hanging on for first 25 mins of second half before a tactical change from RD and we looked the most likely in the last 20 mins.

Brown was immense, best performance in his long Celtic career, Boyata, Forrest, Tierney all very good as well.

  22. Just back from Paradise.

Another game it feels like we completely threw away. Incredibly frustrating, especially after doing all that great work in the first half.

Fenerbahce were ready to chuck it when Efe intervened. All to play for in this group, but we can certainly get a result over there. Sad to see the decline of Van Persie. A great striker who looks totally lost…

    Random scores on the doors…

Broon: MOTM. Outstanding performance. Totally committed, absolutely unafraid, confident in possession and an all round inspiration. His best ever game for us?

Forrest: Really developing into a great attacking option.

Commons: Tremendously inventive and clever display.

    Boyatta, Lustig: Solid

Tierney: Abandoned a bit in the second half, but held his nerve. Well done my son.

Efe: Aaargh!!! The whole stand could see it coming. So sad, because otherwise he was very good.

Johansen: What has happened to him?

Leigh: Another lionheart performance. We’ll miss him when he’s suspended.

Ronny… Got everything right first half, felt he was too late to use the subs (especially for Johansen), but overall a decent performance, great in parts, but peppered with chronic mistakes. Learn to defend, and we’ll win this competition!

    ——————-

At the moment Molde are the form team of the group, hope we aren’t going to have another P67 article about how we’ll beat these minnows

  24. Thought the bhoys done really well tonight played some nice stuff think rogic would’ve made a difference if he had been given maybe the last 25, but like nani said pre game we lack concentration for the 90 onwards and upwards hoops hail hail

  25. Captain Beefheart on

A special mention for the Turkish bawbags. Diving and kicking. No wonder they don’t challenge the ISIS huns.

Tierney and Forrest did well. No nonsense from Boyata. Brown surprised me with his play tonight. Still a poor passer though. If anything happens to Grif, we are Frier Tucked.

  26. One of the most pleasing aspects of tonights game for me was the partnership of Tierney and Forrest.

Thought they worked very well together and were backing each other up offensively and defensively.

It was pleasing that they both worked hard at both sides of the game but hard work is only part of it and i think the two of them performed well in both areas too.

  27. Ah well, could have been worse

    We could have lost

    Worse still

    It could have rained :)

Played good football tonight for most of the game and should have won, seen better Celtic teams play much worse loose and win against weaker opposition, no too despondent still plenty of games and we can improve.

    ————–

Just playing devils advocate here (and Brown did have one of his best games for Celtic in a long long time) but his over confidence on the ball meant he gave it away, and Fene won the corner which they scored from. And at that corner Brown was the guy on the neat post but he came of it, letting the ball in.

Shows that you can make an “obvious” mistake like Efe or you can make an “non obvious mistake” like Brown and get MOM.

  29. Agree with posters calling for Rogic. A much better option than Johansen at the moment.

Feel if Simunovic had been playing we would have won…

  30. Still wondering about the number of subs they used, thought they brought on on in the first half and three in the second half, why am I no sure ?

  31. A light insanity

You made a statement, false as it happens, that I only come on here to berate Celtic after a not so good result. I now challenge you to tell me what I have posted, let’s say, after Celtics last five defeats. Don’t bother. You’ll find none. After 10 years of posting on this site I think I’ve made a total of maybe 5 negative comments……check it out and you’ll see…..so why did you accuse me of being a neganon?

We were 2 up….yes? One player made 2 mistakes resulting in 2 goals…..yes? Am I asking too much for the manager to change things? If I am to be berated for that AND be accused of only coming on here to berate Celtic when things don’t go our way….is it any wonder I’ve went from being a frequent poster to a lurker?
