  1. What a night. I am incredibly proud of the players and Ronnie. It was, generally a brilliant performance. But fate has intervened and it’s all in play, we now need to be brave away and that suits in a weird way.

I am so devastated for lustig. He would be a world class player if it weren’t for the injuries and looking at him tonight you could tell he knows it and his tears about his body letting him down said it all.

I love Celtic but it seems we are destined to be a flawed genius, capable of brilliance and disaster all at the same time.

But overall I am proud of them tonight.

But Celtic if you sell Virgil you will reap what you sow. And perhaps that’s exactly the thing that needs to happen. To rid ourselves of a board obsessed with making money for its own sake.

    Who knows.

    Anything could happen next.

  2. Captain Beefheart on

Sack Ronny? Who would replace him? Ridiculous.

Fact is we have downsized. The DU players show that.

  3. we might still do it but we have made it far harder than it should have been, we just don’t look like a cl team.

  4. Been saying for over a year now. Izzy and Ambrose cannot be trusted with defensive duty. Ffs this is their primary responsibility , there have been too many signs, the opposition know it yet we still play them. This is RD responsibility. I think we can win next week but Malmö will be different team at home, we will need to score for sure!! I’d start with janko and Charlie.

  5. They need to come out chasing a goal. We will exploit that. I reckon 3-2 again over there.. Maybe 2-2 but we will go through. We were better by a distance tonight.

  6. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Blocks, blocks, blocks and puntin fekin blocks.

RD has to have a plan B to not be so open all the time. We were 2 goals ahead in that game twice and could have just ensured they don’t get room, and probably pick them off, and if not, hey-ho we win by 2 goals. As it is we regularly see opposition teams getting shots away 3 seconds after we take a corner. Too open at times.

  7. As for cifti. Never a Celtic player. Never.

I thought brown was generally great but flawed.

  8. Got stuck in horrible traffic on M5 and M6. Only got to digs at half time and the Internet failed me on the useless Virgin Anywhere site. Settled for Twitter and news on here.

I have no idea who was good or bad because it’s all other people’s opinions.

What I will say is this…..at 2 up aft

  9. It’s a win that at this moment feels like a defeat. The Lustig injury is another sickener as well. When we have our top eleven on we look good but all the replacements weakened us.

However many of us wouldn’t have been distraught at a scoreless draw, we have done better then that, we won the game. The tie is on a knife edge, maybe Malmo are slight favourites but we more then matched them for most of the game and we can go there and get a draw or better.

Thought we James had a great game, I won’t make a scapegoat of anyone but neither Efe or Izzy are good defenders. Mulgrew needs to start in Malmo and maybe Janko.

  10. Forrest was great. I can’t help think he is now playing for a contract. We should keep him on a short one.

    Yes.We have downsized.

With our coach and with HIS choice of D.U. players.

    Ludicrous substitutions.

    Why is ur Effe fault

Brown bad header gives away possession for first goal

I’m away before I fall out with people

It’s not Effe fault that lustic is a fragile waste of a great player

Lustic is every bit to blame

We can’t afford to pay good money to him either

    This tie should be over

  14. Ron.

The ball should never have left that corner without a throw, foul, corner or goal kick, all outcomes that give you time to get set. As BBJ’S just said, they had settled for 3-1, yet we give them a route to a second goal. No excuse for that naivety.

  15. NZB

No problem. I’m normally a glass half full man and indeed just thankful that there’s anything in the glass at all.

We’re all a bit disappointed with that late goal going in but I’m sure the team will give it a real go in Malmo.

  16. Sitting in the car perplexed – left at 3-1 – how many times have I chuntered about “frailty and naivety”

It’s EL now – like it, or, lump it

I suppose the script was written that an ex dud from last year would come back to haunt us.

Macjay, I’ve apologised to one other poster tonight but I won’t be apologising to you. Take your so called support elsewhere.

  18. For the record – that was an entertaining game of football apart from anything else.

I continue to enjoy watching the Celts this season.

I wonder whether some people might want to try looking at things with some perspective. It’s good.

  19. We won.

    We scored 3 times.

We take a lead to the 2nd leg.

Let’s wrap James, Leigh and SA in cotton wool with 24 hour massages.

The team choice for Saturday will be interesting.

  20. glendalystonsils on

I agree, Ciftci showed nothing. Zero.Zilch. I reckon Ronny has 2 chances to get us to the CL groups, next tuesday ans next season. After that?

  21. Joe Filippis Haircut on

I think we must question some of Ronnys signings GMS Cifti Boyato have not shown any sign of being able to perform at CL level we know big Efe is a bomb scare and Izzy is not a defender big Lustig has been playing with an injury when we should have played young Fisher.Next weeks game is huge for Celtic and also for Ronny or this will be the second season he will have failed to get us to the CL group stage I think he is beginning to show that he can talk a good game but its results that count. H.H.

  22. playfusbal4dguilders on

If Diela had Sutton Hartson and Larsson to pick from, what 1 would he play?

  23. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

Our transfer policy has left us short at RB

Lustig can’t be trusted to remain fit ….we sell Matthews ..replace him with a project who can’t make the bench

We end up with Ambrose at RB ….

  24. mike in toronto on

Obviously I would have been much happier had it ended 3-1, but I’ll take 3-2.

I dont see us giving up 3 over there.

We had to attack today, as we were at home. Over there, we know our job is to score 1 and not give up three. Simple. Think we’ll do it.

Besides, that second goal will only make next week’s game a bit more interesting.

    We deserve better.

    That`s for sure.

  26. TET I’ve never been more optimistic about the suits screwing it up so badly that the support will rebel. More than ANY club in the world Celtic are simply it’s supporters. We are celtics unique selling point. We are it. Paul might like saying it but the laughable comment that we are the most ethical club in the world betrays an arrogance that will eat itself.

I’m desperate for us to go through but the board keep loading the dice against us. It will get them in the end. But sadly we will be the ones experiencing all the pain first.

Feckin most ethical club in the world that has taken part in wanton corruption to prop up a racist regime. See you got me started.

  27. Captain Beefheart on

Macjay you are normally sensible. Who would replace him? Why does he have to sign players like GMS and Cifci?

We can still defeat these chumps but if we don’t Celtic have massive problems ahead.

  28. Sorry , internet problems again…

2 up after 10 minutes and we are staring at an exit? That is not good, even worse if we are without Lustig, Bitton and Armstrong which is possible. The Berget thing had to happen, Brattbak again. We are just not smart enough and do not see how we can get better without employing smarter players.

The team and fans tonight all did their best, I do not need to see the game to know that each player was committed to winning. They are honest guys trying their best and would not hide, good luck to them, I wish them and all our supporters good luck next Tuesday, we will need it.

I will be in Barca , no doubt in an Irish bar trying to will us on.

  29. crazy game

    thrilling game

could have done with some of the thrills!

lets go over there and do the same again.

  30. Malmo are not as good as Legia Warsaw or Maribor. If we fail to qualify next Tuesday then we will not have progressed a single inch over the past twelve months. Frankly, this would be failure on a massive scale and heads would need to roll. Next Tuesday is as big a match for Lawwell as it is for Delia. Given the massive financial advantage we have over our Swedish opponents, anything less than qualification to the group stage has to be a sacking offence for at least one or possibly both. Our players are on big wages compared to their Malmo counterparts. Next Tuesday would be a good time to prove they are deserving of their handsome rewards courtesy of supporters many of whom barely earn the national living wage.

  31. MR PASTRY on 19TH AUGUST 2015 9:58 PM

    We are ahead.

It’s all down to Malmö to score and not to concede.

Let’s be positive. The team will be next week.
