I may have told you this before, apologies if I’m repeating myself. Around 20 years ago, in a TV studio minutes after a Rangers victory, a former captain, Terry Butcher (what ever happened to him?), told the audience, “David Murray will not stop until he’s won two European Cups and 10 in a row.”
Use of the personal term “he”, not the club name, struck me. Murray was personally invested in this matter. Such a burning desire did not make David Murray a bad person, he owned the dominant club in Glasgow, but the team he was dominating had all that glorious history. If the boot was on the other foot, you’d want the same. I would.
Perhaps if Jock Stein had stayed at Hibs, Celtic would have stayed in mediocrity, David Murray would have had a more affordable dream and the liquidation of his club would not have been necessary.
You know it’s true…….
On Tuesday’s STV report that Hearts manager, John McGlynn, said:
“How many fans would think they could win the league if Celtic weren’t in it at this stage? All [clubs’] fans would.
“That would cause great excitement and I think it would bring fans back to the game, at the lower clubs.
“If you look at the rest of us outside Rangers and Celtic, we’d all fill our stadiums if we thought we’d realistically have a chance of winning the league.”
There are screeds written and spoken about our game but the McGlynn Plan is the most productive comment I’ve read all year. Well done to STV for the report, hopefully they will put the same questions to others in the league. This is the most important question for Scottish football right now.
It’s time for these clubs to throw off their downtrodden ways and genuinely compete for the Scottish title.
Still looking for a ticket for Celtic v Barcelona? Equally keen to acquire a Wee Oscar wristband? A CQN’er has very generously offered his ticket for next week to raise funds for the Wee Oscar Campaign. You can bid for the ticket/wristband package on ebay.
Tell everyone who asks you for a ticket to bid on the auction.

I saw an article in the Sun on Tuesday (I think) were Chuckles was calling the SPL thieves again because they withheld Euro money due to oldco for ragers players playing in last seasons Euro’s , in it it had Chuckles quoted as saying they(sfa ) had no right withholding that money especially as we have paid off all our European debts .
Has Rapid Vienna been paid their 1.2m for NJ ,if so by whom .
I had to double check if it was a quote or just made up tosh from the LL

No problem, just thought the author should be credited and felt a bit responsible having originally posted the link.
HH.
The best tie up the owner of the daft wee division three club could do would be to tie up with old firm fans, theres thousands of them lost without his daft wee club, as you can see fromhere.

Thanks for the Mogwai link – beautiful song I had not heard in a while.

I found this quite interesting:

Sorry if that link causes a problem with the bandwidth!
I don’t know about you Fholks, but I am VERY pleased that justice has been seen to be done. It was a long hard road, but the ‘Internet Bampots’ restored SPORT to the game in Scotland. I am now really enjoying my football now, as witnessed by the fact hat I got quite engrossed in the Dundee Utd v Hearts game last night…….. Here’s hoping I never need to walk into the same stadium as that hateful hoarde again …

That’s why I sometimes copy the link content over….in case some Fholks ‘miss’ the really good articles……
Until we meet again…

Id love to know what the percentage of fans that know the players, related to the players or have links to the players is for the Lisbon Lions v Any other EC winners.
As a real Madrid fan could you go out in Madrid ‘Gallagate’ and meet fans who are connected to DiSteffano, Puskas, Raul, Zidane or their team mates or Amsterdam in Ajax bars would you meet folk directly connected to their EC winning teams, Cryuff, Davids, Kuiliverts. Milano bars and meet relations of Madlini, Barasi, van Basten, Guilet, Boban etcs.
Percentage of Celtic supporters who go to games and have a kind of link to the Lisbon Lions must be the highest of all Thee Greatest teams the European Cup has seen. Or sumfin.
The 29.6 mile thing probably has a hell of a lot to do with it but thats a good thing.

Thanks for liking it, its a tune that more folk should know about.

Watching the Footballers Football Show on Sky.
For all we may say about Sky they are giving some serious discussion about racism in the EPL,
Well done.
Now look at secterianism and anti Irish racism in Scotland.
Paul Elliot is on the show. What an eloquent spokesperson.
Ray Wilkins also who was so surprised at the Anti Catholic sentiments of his team mates.
Seriously, where is the FTT result? It can’t take that long to organise one way tickets to Brazil?
RTC saying it could be 2 more weeks! Do we not have the SPL decision before that or will there be delays in that process as well?

The Dave King question is better directed to BRTH
As for your European debt stuff …can you provide me with links or quotes ?
I fully believe that the Sevco share issue is exactly for the reason of paying off the football debt.
Green and Sevco can do and say what they like about the SPL as they no longer have any jurisdiction over them.
The only monies withheld are the Dundee Utd. money by the SFA and the prize money by the SPL.

Jungle Jim started a post the other day about tenious links to players, it was rather amusing.
I would have a tenious related link to Billy McNeill.
My cousins husband, is Billy’s wifes brother.

Good stuff.
A long time after I joined here I discovered through pure fluke a Lisbon Lion had his family home in where my Mum and Dad now stay, thats my link. But you talk to so many other folk and they have similar stories, its majic.

back in the day when aye where a lad there was a team called Rankers..
now that I have reached my retirement they have gone..

Ah now I see …. Chuck Green is using that prize money to pay off the European debt. It is far from enough but he will be using that to gain some leeway with UEFA and the ECA and as all they care about is money it will have worked.
Will the prize money be set aside for non football creditors or even football creditors over HMRC ? That will be a UEFA decision and I fully expect them to satisfy their own members before HMRC.
This is where it all becomes murky.
How will HMRC react if BDO are told no you have no rights to this money by the SPL ?
It could be a PR disaster for the SPL SFA and UEFA …..but lets be honest they dont give a hoot about the non football fraud AND they have control over that prize money.

Awe_Naw,
I remember way back on of the first rules I picjed up on was that unlike England, Scotland do not have the football debt exemption, all creditors are equal, I expect BDO will remind them of this small but powerful detail :o)

Green will do and say anything until the share issue along with the SPL prize money can pay off the European football debt. Sevco will be given special football dispensation until that problem is solved.

ok,
cider, lager, red wine. malt whisky and a car crash..(guinness and baileys)
think I should retire as I am working tomorrow..
else, they would have to come out and tell the world that the rotten mob cheated and did not qualify to receive the prize money, that would open another can of worms, either way it will be fun :o)
