‘BRENDAN’S IN PARADISE,’ SAYS PAL MONK

BRENDAN RODGERS is living the dream in Paradise.

That’s the view of close friend Garry Monk who has spent this week shadowing his former boss as the Hoops prepared for last night’s Europa League victory over Zenit St Petersburg.

Monk, who played for Swansea under Rodgers, admits he was blown away by the atmosphere at Parkhead as the champions took a 1-0 lead over Roberto Mancini’s outfit through a magnificent Callum McGregor strike.

The former Swansea, Leeds and Middlesbrough boss said: “Brendan seems very settled. He’s enjoying it and that’s what I see more than anything.

“From speaking to Brendan, that’s the impression I get.

“He has put a good team together and obviously he is winning games and they treat him very well, which I think he likes.”

Asked about the possibility of the former Liverpool gaffer returning to England, Monk answered: “Yeah, I think you could see that at some time in the future.

“But I think at this moment in time he is really enjoying it at Celtic.”

Monk took in last night’s match in the east end of Glasgow and took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the “amazing atmosphere”.

It follows a few days where the 38-year-old spent some time with his ex-boss.

Tweeting earlier this week he said: “A few days in snowy Glasgow visiting good friend & mentor, Brendan.

“Doing a fantastic job, BR!”
