State aid advocates ready to help Rangers

588

Quite apart from this week’s admission by First Minister, Alex Salmond, that he has been arguing with HM Revenue and Customs to “for goodness sake get a settlement” with Rangers, I continue to receive reliable assurances that HMRC are coming under pressure from all political angles to effectively offer state aid to Rangers FC PLC (in administration).

In short, if HMRC acquiesce, Rangers will have their debt zeroed and will be out of administration with only their 10 point penalty to show for years of financial doping.

Fifa guidelines explicitly prevent governments from interfering in football.  State aid to any one club is about as explicit a contravention of Fifa rules as there can be.  This jeopardises the places of Scottish clubs in next season’s European competitions and could lead to the Scotland national team being banned from the World Cup qualifying group, due to start later this year.

It is the SFA’s job to insist that all state intervention in football stops immediately.  I urge you to write to the SFA chief executive, Stewart Regan, stewart.regan@scottishfa.co.uk and Uefa president, Michel Platini via his PA marion.haap@uefa.ch, asking them to take immediate action to stop all state interference in Scottish football.

Celtic have an excellent chance of Champions League football next season and we don’t want politicians of any colour getting Scottish teams banned from international competition.  The silence of the SFA on the subject, despite extensive media coverage, is very disconcerting.

It’s time for you to play your part in these important times.

It’s notable that when league reconstruction was being debated a few months ago, journalists were expressing exasperation that the fans wishes were not being considered. The imbecile Dalziel in particular, I think, went to great lengths to stress that it was the supporters opinions that mattered most and that SPL chairmen should consult with fans before making decisions.

Strangely this concern doesn’t extend to the issue of New Rangers being re-admitted to the SPL. The party line is “we need them, we need them, we need them”. Any Celtic fan who claims otherwise is labelled as “hate filled” by Keevens etc or rather more strangely as a “liar” for claiming that they would rather Rangers were not allowed back in.

Quite how they can call someone a liar for claiming to want or not want something seems particularly peculiar.

The wishes of fans of the other 10 current SPL clubs isn’t even given air time.

A quick look at forums of other clubs (and I know this isn’t necessarily a reliable indicator) would suggest that there is overwhelming opposition to their re-admittance.

In summary, the only people who do want re-admittance are Rangers supporters and journalists (same thing in many cases). Another shameful propaganda campaign.

I dream of the day where I can drive by a boarded up Ibrox, scabby FOR SALE/LET sign on the front door and peer into the cauldron of past sins with overgrown grass and decrepit rusty goalposts. Dreams do come true…

  3. On the Ticketus front.

Regarding the monies outstanding if they do not get the revenue from the season tickets they hold / own.

They must have security against the ground / CW’s floating charge.

    They stump up £24.4mill

LBG not CW get the £18mill they are looking for.

CW / TFOD Group then have some money to play with.

£3mill seems to have been paid back to Ticketus in June / July 2011.

Consequently TFOD Group still looks solvent to me and it still has the floating charge to manipulate / work to his advantage.

Interesting if he took the £3mill out of TFOD FC to balance his books?

TFOD FC have 35K season tickets and 10K individual sales per game.

Season tickets = £15mill including the free pie seats / hospitality.

Individual sales = £3mill so far?

Consequently looking at £20mill match day income.

Has he then just run the TFOD as far as the cash in the company would allow him?

When did the EUFA cash for 2010/2011 turn up?

When did the TV and the SPL cash turn up?

Politicians ( Alex Salmond ) say things in public they think people want to hear.

That is quite different from what they do and say in private I would think.

It may be the case that Salmond knows there is no help for Rangers FC PLC (in administration). When they go bust he can then say “Hey I tried”.

I think it is a politicians trick to come out on the side of any lost cause that makes them look good knowing they never have to commit to any action.

HMRC will get about £8m all in from the liquidation.

I’m not sure how anyone at this stage could possible know exactly what any non-secured creditor will get back should Rangers be liquidated. It all depends on how much the liquidators can realise for all the assets not covered by a fixed charge and even we are not exactly sure what is covered and what isn’t.

    Mort

    +++++

I’m basing it on the assets for liquidation being worth £14m or thereabouts minus a couple of mill for the various processes. He asked a question, I gave my opinion – it’s not based on any ‘knowledge’ as such, just a best guess.

I have written to First Minister Alex Salmond and Prime Minister David Cameron regarding their ill judged comments on the Administration process involving Glasgow Rangers.

In addition to the fact that I have suggested that it is in my opinion morally reprehensible to tacitly encourage a lenient approach to tax evaders, most particularly in view of the necessity for a rigorous fiscal policy in these difficult times, I am concerned that these comments put pressure upon the tax collecting body to modify its stance and that such political interference is unwelcome in any sporting area.

I would hope that you will add your voice to mine in condemning political interference of this sort since it would appear likely to foreshadow similar pressure being exerted relation to any forthcoming decisions which need to be made by the SFA SPL or SFL as the bodies responsible for the administration of Football in Scotland.

ANGERS chairman Craig Whyte has this afternoon released the following statement:

WHEN I took over as majority shareholder of Rangers in May last year errrrrrmmm I knew I had been handed a huge privilege – and an enormous responsibility ayeeeeee My intention then was to do everything I could to safeguard the club’s future ayeeeeee And that remains my intention today ayeeeeee

The traumatic events of the last few days have errrrrrmmm understandably errrrrrmmm led to a great deal of angst and uncertainty as well as firestorm of media speculation errrrrrmmm much of it illehhhhhhhformed and some of it downright malicious ayeeeeee

That an internationallyehhhhhhhrenowned institution such as Rangers should find itself in administration is bound to create shockwaves errrrrrmmm particularly among the club’s magnificentlyehhhhhhhloyal fans errrrrrmmm and I fully understand their anxiety ayeeeeee

As chairman errrrrrmmm I have been at the centre of this firestorm – and quite rightly so ayeeeeee I knew when I stepped up to take over the club that the challenge of restoring Rangers to financial health after many years of living well beyond its means would be daunting ayeeeeee But I accepted it errrrrrmmm both as a lifeehhhhhhhlong Rangers fan and as a businessman with experience in turning round companies in distress ayeeeeee

The decision to call in the administrators was painful but it was the right thing to do ayeeeeee They have promised to publish a full report as soon as possible and I very much welcome that ayeeeeee In spite of the endless speculation and attempts at character assassination by certain sections of the media errrrrrmmm I am 100% confident that the administrators’ report will prove that every penny that has come in and gone out of Rangers has been properly accounted for ayeeeeee And I wish to state categorically for the record now that I personally have not taken a single penny out of Rangers since I became chairman and have paid all my expenses from my own funds ayeeeeee

Today I learned that my predecessor errrrrrmmm Alastair Johnston errrrrrmmm has urged the Crown Office to order an investigation into my takeover of the club ayeeeeee Again errrrrrmmm I have absolutely nothing to fear because any fair investigation will prove that I have always acted in the best interests of Rangers and been involved in no criminal wrongehhhhhhhdoing whatsoever ayeeeeee

While the administrators get on with their work errrrrrmmm it is only right that they are given the time and space they require to complete their task ayeeeeee That is why I have decided to take a step back from events so that I do not become a distraction to either that process or to Ally McCoist and the players ayeeeeee

Regrettably errrrrrmmm I will not be attending tomorrow’s match against Kilmarnock ayeeeeee Although I would dearly love to be at Ibrox for the game errrrrrmmm my priority is errrrrrmmm and will continue to be errrrrrmmm to assist the administrators in any way I can to bring this process to as speedy a conclusion as possible ayeeeeee

Painful though it is for all concerned errrrrrmmm administration now gives Rangers a fighting chance – a welcome breathing space – to fix major structural problems that will allow the club to grow and prosper again both on and off the field ayeeeeee

So I send Ally McCoist and the team my very best wishes for tomorrow ayeeeeee And I will end by simply saying to Rangers fans: I know that tomorrow you will prove why you are the best football fans in the world ayeeeeee

Statement from joint administrator David Whitehouse of Duff & Phelps:

CRIAG WHYTE has coehhhhhhhoperated with us since our appointment as administrators and we believe his announcement brings further stability to the situation as we conduct the administration of Rangers’ business ayeeeeee

As administrators we will continue to ensure the Club’s business is run seamlessly as a plan to exit administration is developed ayeeeeee

  17. The Ticketus arrangement:

Ticketus by a number of tickets from Rangers for £24m. They do not buy “£24m worth of tickets” or “lend against future ticket sales” as some lazy journalists seem to think.

Ticketus sell tickets to Billy, Wullie, Jock and Big Shagger for £y each.

    (Number of tickets sold x £y) – £24m = PROFIT!

Or not, in this case, since Rangers are about to be liquidated. Ah well, not to worry, Ticketus are an upstanding business that engages in similar deals with many other fine clubs and organisations such as Plymouth Argyle, Hull City and er. And. Um. Ach.

Ref Graham Spiers latest tweet about RFCs past sins etc..

He doesn’t get it yet does he.

RFC cheated all other clubs in Scotland for years. ALL suffered because of their crimes and cheating, and now that their cheating and arrogance has caught up with them, he is surprised at the lack of any sympathy for them and their plight. Jeez, Grahamare so dense as to actually expect those who have been the victims of crime to have no sense of justice when the criminal is caught and hopefully punished. Grow up and leave the pompous horse in the stable.

Every single Scottish club is entitled to feel some sense of justice at what is happening at Ibrokes. In addition, their fans have largely been a huge embarrassment and an occasional disgrace. RFCs leadership in their cheating era were a disgrace too, with military days and orange days at their ground, while they actually lectured others on how to behave.

Rangers have had the advantage that no others enjoyed and they swaggeredbfor years on the basis of their superiority. Now we know that they were simply cheats. You would be better advised to question the integrity of a professional footbal world where such cheating was tolerated for so long, and whether trophies won by cheating should be erased from the records.

They are in trouble and they deserve all they get. They will get no sympathy from me, and I will not feel guilty because your sense of outrage as been tweaked. You were complicit in their arrogant sways, and were so complacent that you refused to see the evidence of their profligacy and cheating excess when it was right in front of you. You may have watched them as a child but wake up and see what a sordid club you have been indulging all these years.

  22. Watching the last few days’ events unfold has been like watching the film of a book that I had read several times over, but like many “films of the book” the ending may be slightly different.

The leading character or the “Whyte Knight” starts off as a hero in one group’s eyes and a downright villain in another group’s eyes. By the end of the story those who portrayed him as the new messiah demonise him and want him to suffer for the humiliation that he has brought upon them, whilst those who warned that he was a rank bad yin begin to see him in a new light, as a new hero who will go down in fholklore.

Now we all know that the Whyte Knight is:

    1. Hunreliable.

    2. Huntrustworthy.

    3. Downright dishunest.

    4. And a hunfit person to run a football club.

But the WK was not and is not responsible for the hun’s plight, he just accelerated the process. All information about the WK was readily available on Celtic websites from the minute he was introduced as the MBB, I even did some online investigation myself at the time, it wasn’t that difficult was it Sir Minty?

Our Craigy boy only ripped-off HMRC for £9m, whereas the Dark Lord and his crew managed to rip-off HMRC for about four times that amount. The only difference being that the WK did it in spectacular fashion and the Dark Lord was surreptitious in his manipulation of the accounts. For Sir Minty to say that he would only sell to someone that could take the hun’s forward and then sell to the WK beggars belief!

Yes, I can hear you at the back saying Lloyd’s Bank forced the issue, surely with the WK’s background someone on the hun’s board would have shouted “wolf”.

I’m sure we can all remember how long it took for this deal to go through, I believe the term was “imminent”, this gave both parties ample opportunity to carry out due diligence and thus uncover the “corpses” that were buried. This all happened under the “All Seeing Eye” of one of Scotland’s “institutions”, only the “Eye” appears to have been sleeping at the time. Speaking of Scotland’s institutions one them happens to be Carstairs, there is a strong similarity between the inmates of that institution and those of the big hoose.

After my longwinded diatribe above, the point I am making is that the Dark Lord and his crew are bigger criminals than the WK but as usual the Scottish media refuse highlight this fact, they have their fall guy. A question that maybe Alistair Johnston can only answer, why did you not go to the police and ask for an enquiry into the EBT’s being provided by RFC 1872 (now in administration)? Surely stealing millions of pounds from the public purse is a criminal offence!

And bearing in mind that criminality is the main issue here, is Government saying that criminality is permissible and the bigger the crime the better? Support of tax evasion is in my mind also criminal and if Government intervention allows the huns to negate their tax liabilities then anarchy ensues. We might as well shut up shop and leave because, in other words, the lunatics have taken over the asylum (big hoose)! This is a dangerous precedent being set here and could involve HMRC fighting thousands of cases of tax evasion and refusal to pay tax, citing the huns as the precedent.

This particular site on the timternet is usually a pretty good barometer of feeling amongst the more reserved Celtic supporters, By that I mean that it isn’t usually the type of website where intolerance and hatred are permitted. Its quite a relatively calm and collected site. Or as one guy put it, CQN is the heated seats of the timternet and the opinions are generally not too extreme

Reading through this site over the past week I don’t seeing too many bloggers (if any) who are thinking that the SPL will be a sadder place without the bigoted tax dodgers

Why then are Keevins and Walker etc. claiming that all the Celtic fans that they know, think, that the SPL will be a sadder place without them? Keevins, I think it’s time you named and shamed them, cos I can’t find any Celtic fans who are not over the moon (as they say)

Its shocking the amount of news that is being uncovered by the red tops on a daily basis but has been widely known in the timternet for months.

Chick Young did some squirming the other night when someone read out his article about David Murray being a visionary, even the other halfwits, I mean presenters laughed at him, in response he talked about the bayeaux tapestry. Ah blame the skools

The latest stance from our politiocians is stunning, not that I would ever vote for any of them, but I think his referendum vote took a minor kick in the goolies last night. David Cameron, well we wouldn’t have thought anything different anyway. Politicos advocating no tax for the huns, who would have thought it? Well me and about 100,000others furra start
