CELTIC’S £9million striker Odsonne Edouard is racing to be fit to face FK Suduva in the Europa League play-off next week.

The French striker missed the Hoops’ disastrous 2-1 defeat against AEK Athens on Tuesday that saw the Parkhead outfit hurtle out of the Champions League on a 3-2 aggregate.

Edouard was expected to return for the League Cup-tie against Partick Thistle at Firhill tomorrow, but the extent of the hamstring damage sustained when he came on as a substitute against Hearts is worse than first diagnosed.

The 20-year-old attacker could now be struggling to line up in the first leg in Lithuania on Thursday which will be a massive blow to Brendan Rodgers with Moussa Dembele only fit to play 30 minutes in the Greek capital this week.

Leigh Griffiths, too, is still working on his match sharpness and has yet to score this season.
