AEK for Celtic or Rosenborg

598

AEK Athens are a far sterner test than Celtic or Rosenborg would want in the Champions League third qualification round.  Last year they despatched Brugge 3-0 on aggregate from the Europa League qualifiers before drawing home and away against AC Milan.  They left the tournament in the first knock out round on the away goals rule to Dynamo Kiev.

On the positive side, they are preseason and the third round will be their first competitive games since May.  Although they are a famous European name, last season was their first domestic title in 24 years, when the interrupted Olympiacos’ domination of football in Greece.

Should we overcome Rosenborg, this would be a big task for Celtic.  AEK will be favourites, no matter who they face.

Terrible news. Turkey is on my bucket list. Love their Kebabs and Barbers. Love your climate also. See you soon. ??

  2. Read Celtic have posted an article in the last hour predicting the starting line up tomorrow, they have Leigh Griffiths up top. Brendan has already said today he resumes training on Thursday and will not take any part tomorrow. Why go to the trouble of running a Celtic website when you cant even get the basic stuff right?

  11. Dinamo Zagreb looking very strong. Both them and Young Boys are possible draws in the playoff round if we get that far.

We are 20% better than this time last year and about 30-35% better than this time 2 years ago. Only problem is the qualifiers are now 40% harder!!

  12. My word dembele misses an awful lot of game time . He never seems to get wee niggles , always lengthy absences . Hope the griff is able to give us something .

When I was in Munich last October for our 3-0 doin, I met a group of about 100 Dinamo Zagreb fans who had travelled from Croatia to Munich to support Celtic. Great guys

Adelante (if I’ve the spelling correct), will definitely be showing game. It’s a Celtic pub. I was there last October. Tony is a great guy and a real Celtic man. The pub is just behind the front at the far end, but Being just out of the pub , I can’t be any more accurate. I hope you find it.

Right with you on that, bud. There will be plenty of Celtic fans disagreeing today with their pals about our signing requirements, but not during the game.

  25. The hand of God on

Just reading back.. there is a huge Celtic following in Croatia…remember being in Turin for the SHOCKING EXTRAORDINARY 3-2 defeat and seeing a large group carrying a massive red white and blue flag was wondering what was going on then realised it was the Croatian flag emblazoned with Croatia Celtic supporters club.Celtic seemed to be popular in the former Yugoslavia remember seeing lots of Celtic flags amongst there fans at the 1990 world cup I’m sure they weren’t from Croatia Celtic fans made a big impact at the away leg against Partisan Belgrade which I think was played in Mostar not sure if this had an impression on the Orthodox Celts or if the band were already up and running….anyway huge game tonight and as always seems to be the case we are going into these ties with injury or non availability problems in defence and up front I hope we can get through this tough test like we did last year.

  26. The hand of God on

As has been the case with the English transfer scene they seem to come up with a value then stick an extra zero on to it.Didn’t Daryl Murphy go to Newcastle for around £4M….unbelievable.
