ANGE ON ABADA: ‘I THOUGHT HE COULD MAKE AN IMPACT’

LIEL ABADA has missed out on Ange Postecoglou’s starting line-ups for the two Premiership games against Aberdeen and Ross County.

The Celtic boss has given the nod to Daizen Maeda on both occasions before introducing the Israeli touchline ace.

Abada had to wait until the 66th minute before he replaced the Japanese speedster in the 2-0 opening-day victory over the Dons at Parkhead last weekend and he came on against the Highlanders for the second-half kick-off after the former Yokohama F Marinos sustained an injury.

ON ITS WAY…Liel Abada curls in the killer third goal for Celtic in Dingwall with a Ross County player getting a close-up view of how it’s done.

Postecoglou had no hesitation in pitching Abada into the action and the 20-year-old raider repaid him for his belief with a superb third goal in the champions’ 3-1 win over Malky Mackay’s battlers.

The Greek-Australian gaffer, speaking to Celtic TV, said: “I just felt that second-half I knew we’d get a lot of the ball.

“We had the wind behind us and Liel in those situations gets on the end of things and can beat his men.

“I thought he could make an impact and he did.”

Postecoglou added: “Daizen got a bit of a knock, but he’s okay, it’s nothing serious. He’ll be fine.”

Now the manager has another decision to make before the trip to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock a week today.

The plastic pitch may have some bearing on his thinking.
