Appellate body CEO taking sides

826

So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.

According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.

Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”

Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.

Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

Let’s not look for scapegoats.  Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”.  Including the appellate body’s president.

The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association.  SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment.  Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

Look at their accounts, they wont be around for next season never mind in a years time. :0)

  2. They won’t be allowed to jump a division.

Football fans around the country stopped that happening last year, and they will do so again.

Unless SPL clubs want to have their SB’s halved by at least 50% that is.

The accounts in question have to be audited to qualify.

Maybe Charlie reckons UEFA will roll over, just as he has witnessed in Scotland.

I would as put it past them,on past experience.

    “Going concern

The Directors have, at the time of approving the condensed set of financial statements, a reasonable expectation that the Group has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus they continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial Information.”

Only a “REASONABLE EXPECTATION” to continue as a sgoing concern, these are interim accounts, this is the good news accounts before they are audited.

  5. Sevco should be playing in the English league set-up alongside Celtic within the next five years, according to chief executive Charles Green.

Green said that the Old Firm sides would ideally play in England, with their junior sides contesting the league in Scotland.

“The parents would play in a different league, I believe that would be England,” the Rangers boss said. He cited Swansea City and Cardiff City as evidence that teams from outside England could play in the Barclays Premier League, which is Green’s ultimate goal for Rangers.

Green said that a place in a cross-border European league would be his other preferred outcome for the club, a possibility boosted by the SFA’s continuing presence in talks on the subject.

The Rangers boss also added that he expected any selection process for the middle division in a 12-12-18 league reconstruction to see his team chosen.

He said: “If there is a cherry-picking of the twelve, there is no way they wouldn’t pick us.”

So it appears newco are actually run worse than oldco.

At least oldco could blame high transfer fees.

  8. Hearts ready to go bust. Dunfermline ready to go bust. Killie struggling. At that rate Sevco could go up the leagues by default!

As far as I’m aware you cannot have a top team in one country and a junior team in another.

I heard this was against the rules.

    7 months of newco

i would take it they will run at loss till next season book money comes in ?

and the toal loss for year will increase ?

money in bank £21 million? minus £7 million (£14 million max)

then minus a £7 million loss per season

therefore they need a major input of cash even if they manage year on year promotion

the ticket prices will have to go well up to cover the losses

  13. Chuck is spouting the usual garbage. he is speculating to get people to buy his shares. He cites Swansea and cardiff as examples. Can someone point me in the direction of their junior clubs in Wales?

  14. So Sevco have £21.2 Million in the bank but have operating losses of £7 Million, deferred Tax payments of £7 Million and still owe the original £5.5 Million to the investors.

Meaning that after a share issue of £22 Million they really only have £1.7 Million sitting there.

    lol!

  15. A wee question, and please no laughing at the back!!

Would their announcement of losses in their first year not fource them out of being involved in any future European competition by a further year (so four years instead of three)?

I was sure that UEFA needed three years of accounts showing profitability for any new clubs before allowing entry.

  18. Celts whilst it’s great fun laughing at Sevco, they are just a sideshow, a highwire circus act, the real deal here is bringing to book the cheats and scoundrels running and ruining our game, RCO will make the draw for the Scottish Cup today and have his fotie taken doing it with a smug grin on his cheesetastic coupon, that’s criminal in my opinion..

  22. Re. Sevco and a UEFA license.

Haven’t looked at the financial part yet but surely this would preclude them getting a UEFA license until at least 2015/16 season as Sevco were not given SFA affiliate membership until 27 July 2012:

    Transfer of Membership – SFA

This is the rule that should prevent Sevco getting a license until at least 2015/16:

2 The membership and the contractual relationship (if any) must have lasted – at

the start of the licence season – for at least three consecutive years. Any

alteration to the club’s legal form or company structure (including, for example,

changing its headquarters, name or club colours, or transferring stakeholdings

between different clubs) during this period in order to facilitate its qualification on

sporting merit and/or its receipt of a licence to the detriment of the integrity of a

competition is deemed as an interruption of membership

  27. I know that all clubs (apart from the obvious) have to present 3 years of audited accounts to gain entry to the SFL, then eventually UEFA run comps.

Surely these accounts MUST show that your business is a ‘going concern’ and not running up huge losses?

Am I missing the point of why you would have to present GOOD account figures?

Wasn’t being serious. There is no chance that the Associations would countenance that, I know. Except perhaps our own SFA. I, seriously, really couldn’t predict what their limits would be. ;-)

  29. Just watched highlights from Dundee v DU.

Ian Brines books the young DU player when he scores their 2nd goal and holds his finger to his mouth in mock silence to the Dundee fans, without leaving the pitch.

Then I watch MOTD highlights and see Bale score his goal, run to the tv camera giving it bick licks, but no punishment from the ref.

As has been said before many times on this blog, we need a clear out of refs in this country.

Our game will never flourish when we have the likes of Brines, Collum etc in charge.

Whoever is in charge of Scottish refs needs to be replaced.

  30. Sevco will make threats, talk about enemies and haters and terrify the SFA to a make a decision even if it’s not required because they have enough support at Hampden as it is.

I think the tax case appeal is also a waste of time. There appears to be deals done to ensure that Sevco get a free run at the SPL.

They are fast tracking young referee’s because we are struggling to produce enough of them. Put adverts in the FA magazine, website of whatever they have. There must be plenty referee’s in England who will never make the top grade who fancy the cash these guys are making up here. I believe they get almost £1k per match plus expenses in the SPL. They also get a rake of youth and 4th official duties. Some of these guys can be involved in 3 games over a weekend with Monday or Friday night plus Saturday & Sunday matches. They can also have a number of games midweek including the youth games. They can make a very decent living out of the game. The guys from England can come up and referee a decent level of football and have the chance to referee European and international matches.

Seems quite an attraction option compared with the Conference!
