Appellate body CEO taking sides

826

So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.

According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.

Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”

Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.

Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

Let’s not look for scapegoats.  Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”.  Including the appellate body’s president.

The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association.  SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment.  Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

I made the same point to my Dad earlier.

They are in trouble as next season’s ST money may put a gloss on the surface of their year-end results, but will mean they are permanently declaring an outstanding debt as income.

    Oh dear…..

It’s almost impossible to keep up with the level of B/S they are involved with past, present and future, it’s like a full time job trying to monitor their dodginess, my own personal feeling is from a laymans scan of the accounts and a wee whisper I heard that they won’t make till the end of the year…

Hence the now full pelt get them moved up the leagues cry and desperation from Regan et al…

  4. Quick question re Thems accounts – they are posted as 7 months since incorporation to 31st December 2012, but when did the club actually start using money to pay players and other costs? I mean, how much of the £16.6m running costs were accrued in the first month or so?

Are their 7 months running costs closer to 6 months and in reality are their annual costs still over £30m?

Should be interesting to see if or when they release another set of interims to end of June this year.

  5. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

Greengo doesn’t like Celtic commenting about sevco, but he (and the rest of them) keep bringing Celtic into it…..double standards….. He, and they, are ‘joke’..

  6. ASonofDan @ 10:44,

So Celtic’s year end would be December.

Most companies are now, the UK are pretty unique with there end of year for Historical purposes, our Calender was screwed up and we had to loose a few months and added leap years, this meant the year end became April.

Most countries run to the December Year end and many companies comply with this.

No doubt the investors and stock market may well expect interims but would be nice to get this confirmed.

    Starry plough @ 10:54,

    I’m sure you are correct.

Didn’t the MBB say Rangers were loosing £1m per month when he took over at Ibrox, and that was unsustainable.

Looks like Charles Green managed to get some of their history after all!

  7. I am no accountant so will leave to others but on a quick flick through Phil’s link I thought I saw the £5.5m buying of Assets as a loss.

This isnt the money Charles used to buy the club surely?

  8. Don’t like the look of their business model if they’re in the 18 of 12-12-18 next season.

  11. jc2 @ 11:02,

I believe Sevco borrowed the 5.5m to buy RFCia assets.

That debt is still owed to the investors by Sevco by the looks of it.

  14. Is there anyone on here who can read the RFC accounts and extract what is ticket sales (both season tickets and non season tickets).

With their claimed average gate, it would be interesting to get a figure on what the average ticket price was for them (knowing fine well that many tickets have been given out free of charge).

I don’t see that guy doing much to be honest.

I’m surprised Romanov hasn’t said anything though. I his departing pretty soon and is squeezing every last penny he can out of Hertz. IF they win that cup they will open the doors to get the fans to get their pictures taken with both cups and charge them a fortune to do it. Then once he has every penny he can he will depart. IF they lose the final I expect administration instantly.

The guy has nothing to lose and if the figures Paul67 are correct on what Hertz could have had in revenues if they weren’t cheated that would wipe out their debt and let him sell the club and even make some cash back.

Romanov could be a key player IF he wants to be.

  23. I’ve had a look at the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations, I’m not sure what is the deadline dates are or the submission date but it looks like it could be accounts for the previous year submitted no later than March 31st.

So if Sevco has a short accouting year till Dec 2012, there is a possibility of getting UEFA licence from the SFA a year earlier.

“Article 47 – Annual financial statements

    1

Annual financial statements in respect of the statutory closing date prior to the

deadline for submission of the application to the licensor and prior to the

deadline for submission of the list of licensing decisions to UEFA must be

    prepared and submitted.

Article 49 – No overdue payables towards football clubs

    1

The licence applicant must prove that as at 31 March preceding the licence

season it has no overdue payables (as defined in Annex VIII) that refer to

transfer activities that occurred prior to the previous 31 December.”

  24. Sorry. folks. Can’t understand why people are getting excited / worked up about the Huns accounts.

They’re not really a surprise and, after the last two judicial review decisions, I think we can be certain they will not be allowed to fail.
