We’ve often talked about the only real danger to a football club: internecine strife:
Internecine, def: pertaining to conflict within a group, mutually destructive.
In football, your enemies can’t inflict permanent harm, that can only come from within. This morning’s media cover threats from Sevconians to boycott (clearly in homage to Irish tradition) club/company products. More power to their elbows, they should boycott every piece of tat Newco’s disparate IP rights holders churn out, apart from the occasional novelty duck.
Here’s the thing, before you turn the tanks inwards, you’d better be sure you’ve got the ‘What happens next?’ question sorted. If you don’t, you’re playing a real life version of Lemmings.
Threatening Mike Ashley? Aye sure, that’ll work, knock yourself out. I’m sure Ashley’s known as a big pussy, he hasn’t got the money to face down the malcontents, either. I bet he’s already writing his capitulation letter, “Dear Sevconians, by noticing that I can’t handle conflict you’ve outsmarted me. The game’s up.”
What was it Charles Green told John Brown he would do to Ibrox? Hmmm.
Blame the SFA, SPL, BBC, Celtic, Her Majesty’s lawyers, the Daily Record and Raith Rovers but you need to be on the inside to wreak havoc like this.
Interesting front opened by the English Premier League today on the copycat use of pyrotechnics at football games. “Someone could get killed”, said policing minister Damian Green. You’re 20 years out of date, Mr Green.
Here’s the problem: it’s possible to discharge one of these devices in a crowded area without accepting the safety/reputational/fine consequences. Enormously invasive searches of unconnected people would be required to prevent pyros being taken into a stadium which is just not possible, eradication requires everyone to decide not to participate.
The only practical method I can see of stopping the use of pyrotechnics in Scottish football is to give Sports Direct exclusive distribution rights. Who’d buy them then?

And/or order your copy of Sean Fallon, Celtic’s Iron Man, here:

You have mail ( been wanting to write that for years).

A multimillionaire who put the club before himself might consider it.
Without reading back completely, am I right in thinking that some people are complaining that Bobo Balde signed a contract of employment and then carried out the duties outlined in that contract and as a result was paid the agreed wages as stipulated in that contract?
Am I right in thinking that because it was Celtic that some people think he should have forgone this contract which Celtic offered him?
If the above is true, then surely anyone slagging big Bobo’s selfish actions should go into work tomorrow and hand in their notice.
They will then be able to turn up at Celtic Park at 8am on Thursday morning offering their services for a 35 hour week for no pay.
After all, Celtic must come before personnal considerations.
Right, who’s first to volunteer. Let me know.
Ohits.
You gave now officially arrived on cqn..o))
Thm
That could apply to the majority of our board who refuse to payethe living wage..

Peter was conned by Murray , outmanoeuvred if you like. In the January transfer window in WGS last season we were told that all the big players for Deidco would be sold.
Big Pete don’t need a second invitation not to invest in the team.
We were robbed , not only by Deidco but our own board
67Heaven … I am Neil Lennon, supporting WEE OSCAR..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors

Sorry about that, a moonhowling tendency.
It was relevant but not revelationary.
Naka Magic…. Naka on the Bus.
The comfortable collective.
1) I have little savings
2) I don’t get paid more than I’m worth in the market.
3) I have little loyalty to my company.
4) I don’t go into work to face fans.
5) I don’t play football.
Is that enough yet?
You only need the first 20 seconds of this clip…..
First game of the season, first minute…..

sftb,
You speculated about about his lack of selection post Celtic, why ?
What bearing did it have on his time at Celtic ?
I took that as you attempting some sort of justification for WGS not selecting him and that he was not worth the money we paid him, probably wrong but still none the wiser why you would ever raise it, it is/was an irrelevant point IMO.
All the same I’m interested in why you raised it.
croppybhoy
Time after time he would win the ball while going for a header, and time after time he would take the opo out, as fair as it comes, you could see the refs wanting to punish him, but they couldn’t.
Loved the big man.

And they are wrong not to. They should be criticised until they pay the living wage.
Bobo didnt score that goal V deadco- Klos bottled it so much that I’m sure it went in off him
Ernie Lynch
I was nearly thrown out at the Old Trafford game when Naka scored. Having already been clearly warned I just tapped the shoulder of the MU supporter in front of me and exclaimed
‘Now that’s what you call a goal !’ …no response !
SFTB-Paddy’s goal was a beauty.Jinked past a couple of guys,a 1-2 and a finish
Honest..,
You are correct, you did not but I suspect because your argument was full of such shortcomings, I will say, I have thoroughly enjoyed tonights discussion, cheers
P.s. I’ll not be there at Celtic Park at 8am on Thursday.
Will anyone here be?
Huge championship game in the J-League v Urawa Reds. Matchday 23 of 34.
It’s tight at the top.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Two fine goals from Naka (and a lovely strike from Marquinhos into the bargain)

Me too. Same to your argument.
Just remember who’s fighting your corner:
“ahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha go on yerself bobo – get it right up them”
In between the Naka magic and the sea bass for Mrs Joad, has anyone posted the legendary Bobo line to Peter Lawell ? (urban myth or not it’s magic)

Good to be back to debating without personal attacks.
Good ole cqn..

Gonnae stope that……..i just want to see NAKA scoring ….hahahahahahaha,…brilliant, by the way
Favourite naka goal was against Oldco in the league cup I think…run over the half way line two or three strides and band…heading straight for the middle of the goal and swerved away into the corner leaving mcgregor stranded….heard the commentary later..
“Nakamura will never beat mcgregor from th…….goal…..”
Kikinthenakas
An utterly magical effort against seven times champions Kashima Antlers.
Seems so routine. I watch Japanese football on Saturday mornings and expect this.
He is up there with Lubo and Larsson. WGS was right.
I think he will play until he is 40. Genius.

“You speculated about about his lack of selection post Celtic, why ?
What bearing did it have on his time at Celtic ?”
No speculation involved; I just provided the figures about his post-Celtic career to remind us of the level he actually performed at when free from a “vindictive” coach and management.
The relevance is that it shows that Bobo was considered to be poorer than Valenciennes’ first choice centre backs by the time he left us at age 33. That suggests he was not quite the automatic superior to our first choice Centre backs, that the Bobo supporters would have us believe.
If he was, by then, still better than 2 Scottish international Centre Backs, one of whom went on to perform and be regularly piscked for an EPL team and the other, who was performing for a team in the last 16 of the CL, then surely he would have been good enough to walk into a lower table French team.
He was only 33 in that season he left so he was not past it.
He was also not an injury issue as he was usually on the subs bench.
He was not overweight as ernie assures us of his body fat measurements. Maybe he refused to wear the Valenciennes club tie :-
Of course it does not mean that in 2007/8, he was not a better player but, one performance against Dundee United, is hardly a large sample from which either of us can form a judgement.

Much as I admire Messi-like magic (from various players over the years) – I confess there was a certain raw delight when big Bobo launched; divot, ball and opponent a fair distance down the park!
