After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks. Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.
Muscles need to stretch and move freely after exertion. Players will need an exercise routine for the plane to mitigate the risk of the kind of strain injuries we see so often. Get a schedule for them to walk up and down the plane every hour.
I expect Celtic will have a scout at the Astana Arena for Friday’s game between Astana and Shakhter Karagandy but it might not be too revealing. The Shakhter coach and first team squad didn’t even attend the game prior to their last Champions League qualifier against Albanians, Korce. They were locked away in preparation as the second team were deployed for the league game.

For a friendly that was a cracking game. Scotland decent middle to front but awful at the back. England are average with one or two special players. We’ll struggle to qualify for tournaments, they’ll get no further than quarters (if they are lucky)
Strachan is restoring a bit of pride, not to mention organisation into the Scotland team.

I would have thought the more game time players can get at this stage of the season, its August, the better. Broonie will be a lot better for 90 minutes in a proper, high tempo game, and we will benefit for that.
I would start the Aberdeen game with the starting 11 planned for next Tuesday (if fit). We especially need the back 4 to play together since we will have a central defensive partnership that will have had very little time playing together

It’s not ‘whatever’ – it’s a central point to what we are discussing. You seem incapable of understanding Celtic were not part of Longmuir’s organisation. That was the Scottish Football League – not the SFA and not the SPL.
I don’t read too much into monikers myself.
And I think you started the insults, but you couldn’t even get basics facts right in your attempt at being a smart-arse. If you don’t like that being pointed out try and keep it civil.

Fanad – if last season taught us anything, it wouldn’t be a disaster if we didn’t win against Aberdeen or ICT this early in the season. The CL qualifiers are the the most important games at this time.
I would suggest that Lenny knew the three lads wanted to play at Wembley and rested them from the completely meaningless game in in Dublin. Lets be fair!

Being giving a lot of thought intae all this talk of European football, as it stands we are in it until Christmas whether Champions’ League Group stages or the Europa League.
Personally I would prefer a crack at the latter albeit after the CL Group games.
Let’s be honest with ourselves here we are NEVER going to win the current version of the ECL, this tournament is as tainted as the 6th Floor at Hunden.
Of the previous winners of both the EC and ECL IMHO the following have no chance of winning it again until the format is changed:
Benfica, Inter, Liverpool, Ajax, Notts Forrest, Juventus, Porto, Feyenoord, Villa, Hamburg, Steau, PSV or Marseille
Only German or Spanish teams have a chance, nae Italians and mibbees a wild card in PSG.
No sure about English teams but not both Manchester sides or Chelsea this season as the all rebuild.
That’s why we should concentrate on the EL and retribution for Seville.
