Time for PL to earn his bonus, eight days to go, four players required. Close the deals for Roberts and Coetzee, get a centre half that’ll go straight into the CL starting 11 and a forward who can play as striker when other two are injured.

And if he’s got time there’s still a bit of deadwood to shift.

    ——

If he has time he could consult Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congerton.

  2. What is the Stars on

I still this Astana tie will be difficult.

    Especially the away leg.

If someone offered me an 8 4 aggregate victory now i would bite their hand off

Maybe play Jonny Hayes at left full

  3. Moonbeams

In the first half we played nice football and retained shape.

Second half panic set in after they scored and we only regained any semblance of shape when Rogic came on and retained possession.

    Armstrong also made a difference.

The unfamiliar defense was a contributing factor but the two senior guys looked most ill at ease.

Their naivety at times was shocking.

I always think you need a central defender who is the conductor and directs responsibility and not having that designated player created uncertainty.

Would love to qualify 8-4 every season but not because our defense is rubbish.

  4. Hunderbirds

I am pink therefore I am spam.

    Des Cartes, The Deli, Auchentoshan.

  5. It was a makeshift side . Job done. Had the games been played in the opposite order:

    Leg 1 – 4-3

    Leg 2 – 5-0

it wouldn’t be given much thought. After 1st leg we would’ve been saying we will do them at home with full team back.

    However:

As much as I appreciate the board bringing in Brendan, and the astronomical progress , listening to BR last night I was left wondering why he had to, in his words, ” play players out of position throughout the whole qualifying campaign ”

Was this bad luck through injury? Or, because he’s not yet identified the players he needs, or because not enough funding was made available. I really wish the reporter had asked him why he had needed to put out such formations?

Looking at pots 1 and 2, getting to last 16 looks ambitious to say the least. EL would be further progress. For me that requires:

Right back, perhaps one more central defender and another striker. Paddy too.

£12m to £15m worth. Let’s see what the last 8 days of the window brings.

  6. As Celtic are possibly the best run football club in Britain, I would say that Peter Lawwell has already earned his bonus.

  7. 8-4 brilliant, I don’t count it as a loss, as far as I’m concerned we won , and qualified for the group stages and thats all I wanted, awe the Huns are beeling, and even the malcontents in here will have a little joy on last nights results as they have had a Barron season so far this year (and long may it continue) great being a Tim always has been,

Lurking Huns GIRFUYs, malcontents you do what you do best, anyone had a dig at Peter Lawwell yet? Go on, you know you want to.

  8. TNT

My opinion was that he was referring to injuries in central defence and up front. I assume this could have had a knock on effect.

    JJ

  9. I see the BBC site is being very positive about Celtic`s progress into the CL Group Stages:

The main thrust of their article on last night`s success:

” Celtic will need to improve on a shaky second-leg defeat .”

    :-)))

  10. Didn’t the best run club in Britain give us RD for 2 seasons and the Semi Final loss to the Magic Hat?

Didn’t the best run club in Britain have to outsource BR appointment to a headhunting firm, after the Plc’s failures?

Didn’t the best run club in Britain ban 900 supporters during the CL Campaign?

Didn’t the best run club in Britain assist Hawthorne’s hounds with identifying supporters?

Didn’t the best run club in Britain end up with weans and all sorts playing at Centre Half in the CL Campaign.?

Didn’t the best run club in Britain end up with no forwards in the CL Qualifiers?

Therefore ban the support, no central defence and no strikers :))

Let’s see how the best run club in Britain deals with Sevco, the SPGL, SFA and the cheats? Reviews, Res 12 etc?

    TD67,

Glad to see you are still boycotting Sevco farces and SFA/League Cup set ups:))

    Lovely morning here, Till Later.

  11. Clogher Celt

Ah, well. I must have meant to say `one of the worst run clubs in Britain`.

  12. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

    Morning Celts

Is ‘Britain’ actually a thing? Have my doubts about that.

Anyway, against all the odds, the bhoys qualified, on merit:)

    Bring it on.

Its difficult for any team to keep composure in CL games, thats the nature of the fierce competition, we will always have bad spells, but so will most other teams. Its how you cope when the chips are down that is important, and the bhoys done more than enough in the end.

    We fought hard, and won:)

  13. CLOGHER CELT

Yup, only SPFL games and champions league games at Celtic Park, the SFA/SPFL and other Scottish clubs will no get one thin dime from me unless the truth is outed on the cheating in our game here in Scotland is outed.

One thing that I still don’t get, watching the Kilmarnock game on Saturday, why couldent Kilmarnock put all they’r fans in the main stand and give CFC more tickets for that game? It just doesent make sense, business men?

  14. There’s 30 million reasons why the sleekit Laptop Wing of scoddland’s shame are hurtin’ this morning…..

    Guid.

Perhaps thull cheer themsulls up with a snyde story about one of our best players or something that denigrates our play…..or just ignore that Celtic’s on-field success hands about a qtr of a million squid each to scottish teams……….

A simple “Thank-You Celtic” would suffice.

  15. Hot Smoked,

    Sorry I couldn’t resist.

Must go for a walk on the beach to blow away the cobwebs:)

    All the best,

    HH

  16. Clogher Celt

No need for an apology but nice of you to offer one.

Enjoy the walk on the beach.

Gym for me for cobweb removal. The beach is a bit wild at the moment.

  17. TD67,

They couldn’t (the suits) run a p** up in a brewery.

That’s why we are sticking with the same Scotland Squad that have taken us to below Jamaica in the rankings.

All the best with the Bookies

Ahhhhh, breathe in that Champions League air bhoys, isnt it sweet.

To think of the pain we have inflicted on the zombies, its magic:)

  23. Those giant Celtic -Champions League billboards look so cheap compared to the wallpaper covering the staircases at Ibrox.

    Get it sorted, Celtic.

  24. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

Come on Pedro El Topo, gives us an update on the size of Carlos Pena’s shorts:)

Sure we will be due some advice from Pedro today, telling us how we should spend the 30 Million from the CL:)

  25. i'vehadtochangemyname on

    jeez – what a game ? I’ve just about calmed down –

we’re in the CL – looking to forward to all the games.

  26. It will be really interesting to see what our squad looks like on 01 Sept 2018.

Personally I think Demebele, Simunovic and Armstrong will be sold next summer. There will also be some squad players moving on (Henderson, Gamboa, Bitton, Sviatchenko etc.). And there are also a large number of players who’s contract expire in 2019 (Boyata, Forrest, Lustig and Rogic).

Now I’m not saying all these players will leave but I think quite a few will. Let’s hope the replacements continue to be of the standard of Dembele, Sinclair, Ntcham and Kouassi. BR seems to have gotten his big signings right so far. As I said it will be interesting to see where we are in 12 months. In the meantime there is another treble to win and European football after Christmas hopefully:-)

  27. Well done to the the mighty Celtic!

We are gonny dae some damage in the Group Stages when we have our first team available!

Thank you Brendan and the BHOYS!

    Bring it on!

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. TD67

I suppose the area you talk about at killie has SB holders located therein. I am sure they would be a bit like our own supporters who are not happy when moved for CL games.

However i would have thought that it could be a condition of SB purchase.

  29. Pot1-Real Madrid

    Pot2-B. Dortmund

Simunovic off to Burnley…Just met Jozo at Buchanan St Bus station. He told me he was on his way to Burnley…

Apparently, he is going down to buy a snooker table from Riley’s in Accrington… :)

We have just signed Coatzee, who BR says can go straight in.I trust BR.Boyatta is back beginning of September, according to BR.Nothing to do with PL regarding Paddy. We wait on City.I will agree on a forward, but who.I think our scouts are looking.

What deadwood is left?.You seem to be in a bit of a panic Gary.I have no idea why.
