Our Leigh is becoming a bit of a billboard superstar…

We should crowdfund another where he says, with a sneering smile, ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!”

I was very impressed by them last night.A 4_0 aggregate against Nice is a very good result.

  6. watched a re run of yesterday’s match and was surprised at the number of times SB was ball watching and getting dragged out wide leaving both centre backs exposed, not like him.

ML as a centre back , not in a month of Sunday’s.

ON ,what a game he had.

St j on Saturday- wonder if he’ll put the young ones out again. Ralston has balls – would love to see him getting a run.

  8. This is a magnificent effort by BR and the team.We were ravaged by injuries. Not buying into this,”We were badly prepared”stuff. To lose two CHs,and your two strikers, would hamstring most teams. We cant carry 4 or 5 first team CHs.Same goes for strikers. Some need a reality check.Considering what we had to contend with,we scored 15 goals and lost 4 over 6 games. We are undefeated at home,in a cup,and qualified for the CL.We have seen a new star being born in Ntcham, and by the looks of things we have a very good CH joining to add to Jozo and Boyatta.Wee Paddy looks like a goer. Not even mentioning that Eboue also got injured.

A very big pat on the back to PL,Brendan, the team, and the scouts.Done a fantastic job this season already.

    Some fans just never happy.

Yep.I think Lustig is entering the twilight, shall we say of his CL career.

They were not at their best v Nizza. On top form they could beat anyone.Their problem is a lack of consistency and a costly tendency to switch off.

  11. Best chance to avoid Barcelona if that is what people want, is to be drawn out early when there are more group options for us, it used to be AC milan and Benfica we seemed to keep being drawn against, now its Barcelona, would have taken being in it before we played Linfield, well done to BR his staff and the players that were available, it is no mean feat to walk this tighrope twice and make it. I would also like a change from Barcelona this time.

The irony is they’re probably weaker than they’ve been for a long time as well and in a bit of ‘crisis’ – Neymar gone, struggling to get new players in, Iniesta and Mascherano getting on a bit, Messi not signed his new dea. Guys like Delafeou, Denis Suarez, Alcacer getting a game and not quite the same level.

Mind you by the time the window shuts in reality they’ll have Suarez nearly fit again, Messi on a new deal and have signed two of Seri, Coutinho and Dembele!

We’ll take Real Madrid just for a change!

  13. TURKEYBHOY @ 11:23 AM,

    Very good post.

Slimming the squad down and adding quality was a deliberate decision and I think a great policy.

We don’t have the money to get the depth of squad to field two top teams.

No, we have a first team and back up, a lot of the back up coming from Lennoxtown, with injuries and Brendan rotating the squad everyone gets an opportunity.

No knee-jerk buys wanted from me because we had a “rotated” threadbare team out.

Brendan had made changes before they scored their fourth, it steadied the ship.

Also look at the goals, all from quality players, the quality you need when playing in Europe.

Don’t dilute the squad by bringing in numbers.

    Hail Hail

Bale v Mikel, out of all the Pot 1’s Benfica for me, for no reason other than we beat them here usually.

Agreed. During the early “downsizing” years, the wage bill actually increased due to quantity over quality.

Every signing should be at worst challenging for a first-team place right away. Otherwise they’re only challenging for a place as the new scapegoat.
