BBC turn tanks on our hero Craig

768

BBC investigative journalist, Mark Daly, has shown remarkable fortitude in pursuing Craig Whyte, but it’s clear to any unbiased observer that our hero is totally innocent of the serious allegation levelled at him.  Yesterday, Reporting Scotland suggested Whyte may have committed perjury in the witness box at Glasgow Sheriff Court in December last year in a case involving the supply of roofing materials.

Craig handled the second question on his disqualification as a company director, “You can’t remember why you were banned for seven years?” pitch perfectly.

He said, “Well, I’m not going to say in open court and get it wrong.”

This was a good answer, a very good answer.  Saying something wrong in open court is not what our man wants to do.

It was the third question that those pesky BBC types have tried to make trouble over: “Was it anything to do with the treatment of creditors?”

To which Craig replied, “No.”

One insignificant, two-letter, word that people are trying to build into something more than it is.  If only he’d kept to the simple, “I’m not going to say in open court and get it wrong” reply, none of this perjury nonsense would be raised.

Now we have the messy business of a sheriff, currently deliberating the roofing materials case based on the evidence presented, being interrupted by all this rubbish.  Have you any idea how complicated it becomes for a sheriff to discharge his duties when perjury is publicly being alleged (incorrectly, I may add) before he has even reached his verdict?  He’s left in a very difficult position and will not be pleased.

Last night Craig’s spokesman gave you the truth, saying the BBCs latest hatchet job was “a variation on what the BBC already alleged in a documentary riddled with inaccuracies and falsehoods”.

The BBC also published extracts of a written judgement of a trial at the Royal Courts of Justice Companies Court from 2000 which saw Craig’s seven year ban imposed after he put a company into liquidation.

Inaccuracies and falsehoods – and the guy, fair-minded that he is, didn’t even grab the opportunity to have another day in court, this time against the broadcaster.  I’d love to see you take them on, Craig.  Keep up the good work.

Finally, Celtic fan, Billy Connolly, has been in the news recently so I thought we would give a spin to one of his early works. Apologies for the mild use of colourful language. Firm apologies to Strathclyde Police, who are the subject of some fun here but who I hold in the highest esteem (I’m serious at this part), and just for the record, the following song is a gentle poke at the authorities honesty in court and in no way related to persons mentioned anywhere on Celtic Quick News.

    Thanks Celtic FC.

As a CelticTV viewer who has been frustrated by the media conferences featuring NL and players, I complained that we could only ever hear what Neil etc would say in response to questions. We could never hear the questions and therefore the relevance and nuances of any response.

Today, that has changed, so that now we can hear the questions and the tone in which they are posed. A great improvement and the media conference today with Neil was excellent.

    Thanks again.

  2. SYNDE has CRAIG WHYTE forgot about the SKY deal???? If they go into administration/liquidation that buggers the SKY deal!

  3. Lol the funnies continue on Clyde, bringing the dreadful loss of 15 points up, the loss of four cup competitions (Is this a Scottish, British, european or World record???)

GS bringing up the myth of no funds. What about Ortiz (who has been kicked out the door again), Celik (Hmmmm), Playing Papac at Left Mid??? He doesn’t deserve any criticism for any of that, or for losing to teams who spend a fraction of their budget now does he???? After all Whyte spends 15m a year on wages……

I would of kept Healy up there himself, he’s not that type of player, but what I am saying is, at the end of the day, its a hard hard job he’s facing ”

Hmm GD demonstrates why he is not in mensa with a sentence that barely makes any sense.

Lol the sky deal of 80 million pounds, more like 8 mill…..

Craig whyte is a predator, Geez that’s one number I will never be calling to babysite fur me then….

  5. Celtic fans give me pelters since I switched loyalty to Rangers, says Sir Sean Connery

Aug 26 2008 By Kevan Christie

SEAN Connery yesterday revealed he gets a hard time from Celtic fans – because he switched his allegiance to Rangers.

The former 007 dumped his boyhood favourites when he met and became close pals with the Ibrox side’s chairman, David Murray.

But he laughed off the switch and joked that he gets spat at by Celtic fans when he returns to Paradise.

Connery, who was celebrating his 78th birthday yesterday, was speaking as he launched his autobiography Being A Scot at the Book Festival in his native Edinburgh.

First Minister Alex Salmond, the actor’s brother Neil and wife Micheline were among those in the 300-strong audience.

Connery told them he had been a Celtic supporter when he was younger, after being introduced to the club by his father Joseph.

He said: “Football was a great passion of mine while I was growing up.

“My father introduced me to Celtic and we played football in what we called the back green which was, in fact, made of concrete.

“I have maintained my love of football. I went away from it when I was really busy on films and then I really got back into it when I was involved in Celtic and I remember helping with the Jock Stein benefit game.”

But he joked about the stick he faces since switching sides to Rangers.

He said: “I changed my allegiance with David Murray. I met him when I got the freedom of the city here and immediately we had chemistry.

“We enjoyed each other’s company – he’s an amazing chap and we’ve stayed very, very good friends since.”

He added, to laughter from the crowd: “And I get spat on if I go to Parkhead.”

Why not, are they not PROTESTANTS?

I think we, collectively are rebels by nature, and I mean that at all levels of social injustice and inside our club.

    they on the other hand,

just like to Protest about , em , us.

  7. GS says what I wanted to here “If rangers are ruined the architect of that downfall won’t have been Craig Whyte, it will have been David Murray”.

I like to pay tribute to the lone Celtic fan in the home end at the game against ICT.

When Georgios scores, the whole of the stand behind the goal is motionless except for one solitary Celtic fan wearing a light cloured jacket.

He/she jumps up out of their seat and raises their arms high in a clear celebration.

    God Bless you and thanks

I forgot you told me that before, I will do.

  10. Árd Macha. :) that did cross my mind.

It was just GS genuine confusion as to why the hun support don’t know where to turn know the rug has been pulled from under their club.

It’s like wondering why the little rich kid born with a silver spoon in his mouth can’t cut it out in the real world after mummy and daddy’s funds run out.

haha your right he is a total buffoon – hope the huns continue to lap him up and persevere with fat sally

  12. Strange is it not Connery & Murray bosum pals.I believe Connery does not like paying tax,I wonder what they got in common.

  13. all this stuff about losing t.v money the 80 million, what are these people taking about are we getting 80 million a year from sky and espn, no it is more like 2 million a year and there is no proof that a newco would be seen as the rangers

now i reckon the spl without rangers would be worth less, maybe 50% drop in income, so we would potentially be down 1 million a year, think we’ll cope.

sell to normal t.v and retain/ increase potential sponsership moneys, nike want celtic not ranger etc…

need a better arguement that that

  14. “Spiersy ” rangers support isn’t as political as Celtic’s. The rangers fans don’t have the same ability to protest…I don’t know why”

ehhh what have they ever had to protest against?!”

yeah I laughed at that too. Speirs seemed to overlook their track record of protesting against malfunctioning TV screens and non-Scottish police forces.

Cheers HT ,I was thinking in amongst ICT fans.

  21. Should the huns become Newco then it truly will be for the good of the Scottish game,

Is it not a valid point that if the huns get demoted to Div3 then there is the potential there for television revenue for all the teams in that division?

Also the fact the the Div3 clubs get to play games in Ibrox, potentially against 10000(optimistic) each other week, and then every other week a team get’s the huns at home, boosting there own attendance?

Also the players in those divisions gain from the experience of playing a bigger team?

The MSM ‘good of the game’ is not the actual good of the game

  22. Just been asked a question which I cant find the answer to.

Does anyone know how many fans bought the shares the first time under Fergus? I know we raised about £14m but how mnay fans actually bought them

  23. “Rangers “dynamicism” and “story” and “tradition” would be well missed from the Scottish game.”

At least that’s the tat GS is saying.

Hmmm I don’t think we will miss their bigoted signing policy, their hilarious little ditties, their parcel Bombs or their hatred for a Man who happened to be Catholic and Celtic Captain playing for Northern Ireland…

Oh my Gawd a plant just says the majority of Celtic fans don’t want to see the rangers Wiped from the map. Where are these “majority” of Celtic fans that don’t want the rangers totally destroyed? I haven’t met them.

  24. Ragers are a wounded animal says GS , well Graham if you read my post again from earlier I gave you the answer.

Celtic fan plant on now! the majority of Celtic fans don’t want Rangers to disappear,

GD: ‘Ranjurz have not been found guilty, for the benefit of our game in the long term, that’s the passion about our game…’ Really Brian?
