Last year Basel entered Champions League qualification at the same stage Celtic will next season, and next week they become the first Swiss team to play competitive European football in May ever. Apoel Nicosia entered at the same stage in 2011 and became Cyprus’ first qualifier for the Champions League quarter final last year.
The Champions League final of 2014 will be held in Lisbon, the first time the city has hosted Europe’s top game since………. you know when. There are 1730 miles between Berlin and Lisbon, or 10 months, if you prefer. Preparations are already underway.

I do believe that the game at the highest level is fixed, but, it’s fixed to a degree less than other sports.
I would wager a few bob on the golf, and imo, it’s the fairest sport out there, and it would be the easiest to corrupt.
At the end of the day, it’s called gambling, cos that’s what it is, we will never make a fortune for it, I was lucky in the past, was very good friends with a bookie, he gave me a few pointers to who to punt my hard earned on, as long as it wasn’t in his shop.

How can anyone claim that games are fixed, even up to the level of CL semi-finals, based on nothing more than refereeing decisions?
Football fans have disagreed with refereeing decisions since football was invented. The fan could, quite feasibly, be wrong. Or the referee simply saw it differently, or even made a mistake. It happens.
It doesn’t mean the game was fixed, especially when, in the game in question, the team that the referee was presumed to be favouring, actually lost.
