Berlin to Lisbon

829

A game against Union Berlin, from the second tier of German football, four days before our Champions League qualification campaign gets underway sounds like perfect preparation.  Union will be better than any opposition we have or will play since defeat in Turin last month and they will be miles ahead of our Champions League second qualifying round opponents.

Having to play six instead of last season’s four games to qualify for the group stage has cost Celtic ‘lucrative’ preseason friendlies.  I am sure those charged with the task of balancing the books at Celtic Park (we always pay our bills) will be less than entertained by this, and for many supporters, if feels important that we face Real Madrid or Inter Milan preseason, but the summer time is all about qualifying for the Champions League.  There are five weeks between Celtic’s opening qualifying game and the first leg of the play-off round.  This extra preparation time should ensure we are fitter and ready.

Legend has it that competitive football in July inevitably leads to a drop in form late in the season but legends are not always reliable.  Last year Basel entered Champions League qualification at the same stage Celtic will next season, and next week they become the first Swiss team to play competitive European football in May ever.  Apoel Nicosia entered at the same stage in 2011 and became Cyprus’ first qualifier for the Champions League quarter final last year.

The Champions League final of 2014 will be held in Lisbon, the first time the city has hosted Europe’s top game since………. you know when.  There are 1730 miles between Berlin and Lisbon, or 10 months, if you prefer.  Preparations are already underway.

Watch out for offers from BET 365

They offer to match your opening balance but my personal experience was they don’t let you withdraw anything easily.

For example, had you opened an account with £200, they would match that with another £200 giving you £400 to bet with.

All sounded good until you realise you have to turn that over THREE TIMES in your account before you can withdraw ANYTHING – yep you would need to place £1200 in bets before you could withdraw from an opening balance of £200.

I can assure you I may get ma laptop or mobile out but do not go where Ray Winstone tells me

Aye, the referees are a problem

I do believe that the game at the highest level is fixed, but, it’s fixed to a degree less than other sports.

I would wager a few bob on the golf, and imo, it’s the fairest sport out there, and it would be the easiest to corrupt.

At the end of the day, it’s called gambling, cos that’s what it is, we will never make a fortune for it, I was lucky in the past, was very good friends with a bookie, he gave me a few pointers to who to punt my hard earned on, as long as it wasn’t in his shop.

Paid for where I am today.

    Take care mi amigo.

Hate to recommend to anyone a means of parting people from their money, unless it’s joining me for a bevvy.

But the BET365 £200 offer is a cracker,if used properly.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Rutherglen legends on Saturday, first time I’ve noticed the ceiling in that place.

Obviously I posted that before I had seen your post on the same offer, but it is for that reason that I said it should be used properly.

I did fairly well on it a coupla years back, though with the same problem.

    Which wasn’t a problem….

I simply kept winning. Not much, but more than enough.

Her parents are beside themselfs about where she is, this is coming from what i have told the blog before, she was supposed to send them money for a car she sold, they wanted 2 grand for the car. it was worth 200 tops, we got 400 for it, she kept the cash against her better nature, she now realises she done the right thing.

Her Da has had a visit, he has been told, and he now realises that he was out of order.

Any other problems will not be tollerated.

No thanks needed, only doing the right thing after a young wan who needs it.

  18. How can anyone claim that games are fixed, even up to the level of CL semi-finals, based on nothing more than refereeing decisions?

Football fans have disagreed with refereeing decisions since football was invented. The fan could, quite feasibly, be wrong. Or the referee simply saw it differently, or even made a mistake. It happens.

It doesn’t mean the game was fixed, especially when, in the game in question, the team that the referee was presumed to be favouring, actually lost.

    How does that work?
