Bolstering the attack quickish

769

With 26 career goals, 25 of which came in a Dundee United shirt, £1.5m sounds a tad generous for Nadir Ciftci.  Celtic’s earlier offer of £900k sounds more like the mark but Wigan have validated United’s target price with a deal with meets their requirements, if not that of the player’s.

Is he a player to improve Celtic?  Quite possibly, he’ll bring something we don’t have at the moment – a sticky out ball – but it’s a big ask to expect him to step up to Champions League levels.  Signing that level of player might take Champions League money, but we’ll need to get there first, which is why we need to bolster the attack quickish.

Two years ago we talked about the number of senior games a good player is able to make before he’s noticed by those to rich and lazy to do as much low-level research Celtic must do to unearth a gem.

Victor Wanyama made 51 appearances before becoming a Celtic player, Virgil van Dijk made 62.  It’s likely both spent the bulk of those games without anyone paying much attention to them, Celtic’s scouts are likely to have been alerted when they have little more than a dozen or so games left at their previous clubs.

Ciftci’s made 67 senior appearances.  If he has what it takes, the world will know about it sooner rather than later.

Ah, so detached was nothing to do with the recipient of the unconditional love but from a distraction to the recipient, is that right ? well if that’s the case I qualify.

The problem or confusion you seem to have is that you consider PL to be Celtic or up there as some sort of embodiment of Celtic which is why I spend so much time trying to be clear that I distinguish between the board and Celtic hence I identify the board or I identify the member of the board such ad PL or DD as the source of my annoyance and NOT Celtic. But then you knew that didn’t you ?

Don’t believe Wiki… ever. Or if you do, at your peril be it.

I say Souness started out at Celtic, your post says otherwise. Whom do you believe is correct, not that it matters a jot by the way.

I bought one for my Da last month for his birthday. I have received the certificate but I was told on here it usually takes a couple of months before it is actually laid. The plan is to get over early next season to see it.

    His birthday is this Saturday

Can wait to see the look on his face

What system do you favour for drink cooling?

Obviously the drink must be cold, from the fridge and kept shaded from the elements, i.e. Direct sunlight, this is a given.

I’m thinking more in the glass cooling scenario.

I favour the three glass system, where three glasses, per drinker, are placed in the freezer compartment.

On commencement of drinking, one glass is removed from freezer and cold drink is dispensed from the fridge, leaving two glasses still chiling nicely in the freezer.

When the first drink is finished, the glass is returned to freezer, while a second glass is then utilised for the next cold beverage.

And so on throughout the established drinking period.

Thoughts, observations and any handy hints would be appreciated in the opTIMisation of the hot holiday drinking experience.

I was Saying the Suits never knew what was best for Celtic the last 3 Years as the Rangers saga is uncharted territory..

Also and More importantly when the SFA bottled it on Sanctions that would suit the crime which has been done here in Australia within months of Salary Caps etc being abused.. Ie Melbourne Storm were stripped of 2 or 3 Titles within 3 Months..

As I said when the SFA did Not act it became a Legal case which is Still going on and will for Years.. If the Verdict States Rangers have a Case to Answer Re; Cheating Financial or Otherwise .. IMHO only then Can Celtic act..

For nearly 11 Years I asked my Lawyer how my case Was Going.. ? 9 out of 10 the Answer was How long is a Piece of String.. :-(

Bit underwhelmed by Ciftci if the truth be told, but I rekon Ronny has been given a budget for a striker, and NC is the best he will get, IHO, within the said budget.

If there is anything spare sloshing around, a proper footballing middy is what I would buy, someone who controls the mid, someone who can see that killer pass, someone who knows when to slow the game down, or speed it up, they are out there, and for free, but they prob don’t fit our criteria of selling on, shame.

My post about The Haman was to highlight that no matter our different opinions ,it is a wonderful thing to be a supporter of The Glasgow Celtic.

I never lose sight of that ,but I also want us to be the very best we can.

    To fulfil our potential .

That won’t happen until our board has the ambition and the desire to get us into a league that equals the annual TV revenue of all of the worlds richest clubs.

A few years ago, about 5 years ago, a mate of mine (who is a hun) brought his wife and family up to my house for a BBQ. I’ve got a wee football field on my patch and before the meal me and my mate and our respective kids went down and played some footie. My mates youngest, who at the time was about 7 1/2 tackled me, tackled me hard. Jokingly I said to the kid (not very PC like) do that again and I’ll have you. (all within the kid’s fathers earshot). Within 2 minutes the wee kid did it again only harder, the second time he actually caused me pain. I looked over to his grinning dad and said “the boy is a player’. And he is.

A few months later Stoke City signed him and took him from here to England. He played against Man Utd his first match; his third match in England he was playing in a Man City strip. Due to family circumstances they couldn’t stay in Manchester, his family moved to London. After one game of a 3 month probation period Chelsea signed him. That was w years ago. Chelsea a few months ago extended his contract for 4 years.

Before he signed for Stoke I was asked by his father (the hun) would Celtic be interested, his boy wanted to play for Celtic. I contacted Paul67 and asked what, if anything could be done, after all, this kid was amazing. Paul replied that Celtic could not accommodate a kid of that age.

To this day that kid wears a Celtic strip to his Chelsea training, not onto the actual pitch, but to training, and that kid, whose dad is a hun, and a mate, started his professional career at Stoke. But no book will ever record it.

But I have a memory of an almost 8 year old going through me to get the ball.

I think it was pointed out here last night that Celtic regularly lost money when the huns existed and that we turn a profit in their absence. We are not magically going to walk into any super league that will make us millions any time soon.

I see the BBC are telling us Rogic’s “Celtic nightmare” is over. Oh wait, he had last season was a nightmare due to injury. Can’t beat a negative Celtic headline, eh?

Meanwhile the “Big Guns” have all been drawn at home in the league cup. On reading further I see the ” Big Guns” are Hearts, Hibs and the BBC’s adopted team from Govan.

Anyone got any sympathy for this mob getting their budget cut? With the crap they write these days they deserve it and should be scrapping amongst the rest of MSM instead of relying on our money to fund this inane drivel.

Summa, re the picture of Jinky and the beast walking together after a game, I can tell you that it was after a fundraiser (new pavilion I think) between a Gourock YAC select and a celebrity team at Gourock park in 1987.
