BRENDAN RODGERS was hit by a one-game ban by the SFA this afternoon – but the Celtic boss WILL be in the dug-out when the champions play at Ibrox on April 7.
The Hoops boss faced a two-match suspension after his criticism of referee Don Robertson and VAR official John Beaton following the controversial 2-0 loss to Hearts earlier this month.
Rodgers, backed by top KC Nick De Marco, pleaded his case at the Hampden hearing and the outcome saw the Irishman banned for his side’s Premiership visit to Livingston on Sunday, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
However, Rodgers will be on the touchline against Philippe Clement’s side in Govan a week later.
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT…a frustrated Brendan Rodgers at Tynecastle on March 3.
The Hoops gaffer had been accused of breaching Rule 72 Article 96.1 of the SFA’s disciplinary code after his remarks following a red card for Yang Hyun-jun and a contentious penalty-kick for the hosts in Edinburgh on March 3.
Onfield official Robertson upgraded a yellow card to red for the South Korean after an intervention from Beaton and, following another instruction from the technical assistant, he awarded Hearts a ludicrous spot-kick from which they scored their opening goal.
Celtic fought to have Rodgers cleared completely, but the SFA’s panel decided on a one-game ban with a further one match suspended.
