Hit them quick and hard

263

Dundee have not scored a goal since taking a 2-0 lead over Motherwell with 20 minutes remaining earlier this month.  Since then, they have played 200 minutes football, plus added time.  Motherwell battered in three late goals that day to take the points, as Tony Docherty’s defence capitulated.

Their response, was to keep out Aberdeen and Newco, both of whom scored three times against the Celtic defence this month.  That bizarre loss to Motherwell is Dundee’s only defeat since losing 7-1 at Celtic Park in February.  Dundee were a shambles that day, but they reacted with the same fortitude they did to the defeat from Motherwell.

Celtic won 0-3 at Dundee on Boxing Day, albeit the game remained in the balance until late, and we won 3-0 in the first league meeting between the sides this season, in September.  Both these three goal wins were level at the break.

We can conclude that Dundee are a difficult side to predict.  When it goes wrong, it goes wrong quickly and thoroughly, but until then, they have enough composure to subdue most opponents.  So hit them quick and hard.

It’s all getting a bit exciting.

  1. HOT SMOKED on 26TH APRIL 2024 7:57 AM

I believe the first four years of my life in the Garngad were spent in the same close —- maybe even the same house — as James Edward once lived.

    HS .

If you want confirmation , give me the address and I’ll check the census records

  2. Big match revisited.

A Martin o neill game for Norwich.

Beaten by a Jim Melrose hat trick for Leicester. And relegation.

    Walford cb. Absolutely rubbish.

    The pitch a ploughed field.

They don’t know they are living nowadays

Thanks for that. It would be good to know.

    We were at 274 Roystonhill

  4. Nice to see Mr Arzani get on the scoresheet tonight for Melb Victory. Nice skills all round from him.

Two players Celtic may also want to scout…

Winger Lauchie Brooks of Western Sydney – great young wide player in the making.

And – left field choice – Luke Brattan of Sydney FC. To me, a composed and cut-price version of Aaron Mooy.

    Jus’ sayin’

Will watch the Saints tie tonite, hoping they spring a valuable surprise.

  5. Always when I watch the women’s team the pitch looks too big for their fitness level it wastes the game very few are fit enough to play on pitches this size.

  6. Hot Smoked .

Check out the OneDrive link inserted below and let me know if it works for you .

It contains the following records from the Scotland’s People site :-

    • Jimmy’s birth certificate (26/04/1904)

    • The relevant 1911 census records – two parts cos Jimmy was over the page from his Mammy and Daddy and the rest of the family

    • The relevant 1921 census record

I can see that the address given at the time of both censuses was 258 Garngad Hill .

However , it’s possible that the family could have lived at 274 Roystonhill at some other time .

Just thinking – I hope I haven’t started a debate on the plural of census LOL

  7. Thine eyes they bleed.

Woeful stuff from both teams with sevco coming out the winner 2-0.

You rarely see women spitting when playing the game, i counted 6 different sevco players spitting mouthfuls. Bred into them, that centre back Hill looks like he would start a row in an empty house.

  8. Must be said, a pretty dull game sees Celtic ghirls edged out.

Celtic ghirls 0 Hun wumman 2.

  9. I posted the other day about KT picking up yet another injury that could help Greg’s chances for Scotland ,well Robertson of Liverpool picked up an injury too , might see Greg in Germany after all ,(depending on both players injuries ) .

  10. In all our history with all our heroes I am forever scratching my chin as to why JAMES EDWARD is not the most revered.

A shy man but the book on his life story Heroes are Forever and his actual scoring exploits are unsurpassed.

His family history an echo of what hundreds of thousands of our forebears experienced.

The sons and daughters of famine victims. Their parents and siblings or them themselves born in Ireland. Forced into the empire. The Glasgow story. Jimmy’s loss of his father. Relatives and neighbors who came through the great war.

But still jimmy walked to Celtic park because he gave his pennies to those who needed them more.

I researched the family on Scotland people. It felt that close though I felt I was intrusive.

The saint Johnstone story I need to find and post.
