BRENDAN’S DOUBLE DILEMMA

0
BRENDAN RODGERS is facing a double goalkeeping dilemma in the summer.
The Celtic boss is searching for a new No.1 after 36-year-old Joe Hart’s announcement he would be retiring at the end of the season.
Benji Siegrist, who has been third in the pecking order in recent times, was seen as a possible contender for the gloves along with Scott Bain in the new campaign.
However, the Swiss shotstopper, who celebrated his 32nd birthday last month, is now on the wanted list of their Premiership rivals at Pittodrie, as reported in Aberdeen Live.
POINTING THE WAY AHEAD…Benji Siegrist in a rare Celtic first-team appearance.
The Dons are eyeing up a move for Siegrist, who has not figured in the Hoops first team this season and who still has three years on his contract to run. Current first-choice Kelle Roos has yet to sign an extension and will be a free agent in the summer.
The Hoops’ former Dundee United netminder, who was signed by Ange Postecoglou at the end of his Tannadice deal in July 2022, is seen as a priority target by the north east club.
Former Celtic prospect Ross Doohan, who made his Dons debut in the recent Scottish Cup win over Bonnyrigg Rose, is back-up to Dutch star Roos at the moment, but the club would prefer an experienced campaigner if they are forced to move for a replacement.
CELTIC TREBLE…Joe Hart, Scott Bain and Benji Siegrist go through their paces at Lennoxtown.
The nearest Siegrist, who has made just two League Cup appearances since arriving in Glasgow, got to the first team this term was as back-up to Bain for the match against Motherwell at Fir Park in September when Hart was banned after his red card the previous week at Livingston.
The towering keeper was on the wanted list of Austrian club Sturm Graz last month, but a loan switch collapsed after talks.
Rodgers has already admitted he could be searching for TWO new netminders in the summer market.
