Brown called Green right with only one solution remaining

1082

Scottish football has gone through months of drama and uncertainty to rescue ‘Rangers’.  Only weeks ago we were told a CVA was likely.  Once this failed the question of today’s SPL vote crystallised.

The SPL met several times to discuss this matter, even doing so before Rangers CVA failed.  Sentiment was firmly behind Newco, to the extent that some were worried they would be allowed into the league without any sanction (if one Ayrshire club had their way).  All this changed when Charles Green and Duff and Phelps agreed to challenge the SFA at the Court of Session.  At the SPL meeting following this decision the mood changed dramatically.

I then had several friends in the media rubbish my suggestion that Newco were far from certain of being voted into the SPL.  To be fair to them, my information was not coming from Neil Doncaster, whereas theirs was.  If Doncaster was so assured when speaking to the media, day after day, we can only imagine what he was saying to Green. His influence has not been helpful to the cause he championed.

Clubs, who were previously weighing up the argument, suddenly had a convincing point to consider.  Rangers going to court was the biggest own goal in their 140 year history.  Terry Butcher, eat your heart out.

After this Green was at the mercy of fortune, and the growing influence of the hawk(s) in the SPL who saw no need to create space for Newco.  In many respects, John Brown is correct.  Having gambled and failed, Green did whatever he could to accommodate but there was no way back.  Underestimate John Brown at your peril, he has his club’s interests at heart and has the fortitude to raise a phoenix from the ruins of Ibrox.  His unconventional style is easy to mock but it is just what needed (I truly believe this).

Where now for the Newco-Sevco-Rangers?  I don’t see a solution.  Sooner or later Mr Green will let his friends know they only way forward is for him to acquire an existing Scottish Football League club, rename it to something like Rangers United, and move it to Ibrox.

The toxic history would be set free and it would be game-on.  Keep your eye on Cowdenbeath.

I listened to a bit of SSB on Clyde and I have to ask the question, Have the club formerly known as Rangers not got anyone that can act as a spokesman without coming across as aknuckle dragging neanderthal?

I believe the answer to that particular question is NO!!

  5. 37 years ago much to my dismay, our family left Bonnie Scotland for the vast expanse of Canada. At the time I was resentful as I felt I would never see the hallowed green space called Parkhead ever again.

51 weeks go I, along with my wife and 2 daughters left Canada for an amazing opportunity in the Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave.

On Valentine’s day this year we had a double celebration. We were advised that our US permanent resident cards we en route to us and CQN was on fire with the news of Rangers in Administration.

In the past 37 years I have been fortunate to travel all over the world. On every trip I take 2 Celtic strips with me. One for myself and one for anyone I may meet that has an idea of who Celtic Football Club are and gift them with a Celtic top. In the same 37 years of traveling to places like Paris, Nurenberg, Milan, Belgrade, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Sao Paolo, Sydney, all across Canada and the US I have been able to wear my Hoops openly with pride, without fear and without being referred to as a Proddy Taig as I was in Wishaw. Hopefully now that RFC in Liquidation have been eradicated from the SPL and on July 12th hopefully eradicated from Scottish Football I can at some point come back home and step off a plane with my Hoops on and not look over my shoulder. This may take a generation to happen and I may never see. It.

Tonight as myself, my wife and 2 girls celebrate the 4th of July in our new town I will watch fireworks exploding in awe. When I see the gold, white and green ones I will say a prayer for all those good Tim’s who did not live to see this day and when the red, white and blue ones explode I will silently be screaming inside GIRUY ya bunch of cheating, lying, thieving gits. You finally got what you deserved for the decades of hatred & violence towards everyone in the Celtic Family.

I will then come home, put my girls to bed and open a bottle of The Four Graces Pinot Noir that I have been saving for this occasion. I will drink it all.

God Bless all Celtic Fans around the world today and everyday.

I’m sure you could find some of your posts that confirm your stance here.

    Equally,I’m sure I could find a few that don’t.

  12. Apparently the english queen was in Glasgow today, early suggestions that she was here to pick up a cheque from dodo fc for unpaid taxes has proven to be false.

  13. Can’t believe the Bomber can get away with his poorly vieled threats on a commercial radio station.

When pushed on why he walked from Ipox, he said it was because Charles Green (And Whyte) told him what he woudl do to the club. When pushed on this he stated that he could not say as he would put C.G. in physical Danger…….

This is a red rag to a blue bull as far as I’m concerned. He knows the Hun fans, and their reactions to minor incidents (Broken TVs etc), and without giving a quote, makes the situation equally as bad for C.G by spouting this.

If he’d done this on the web, he’d maybe be ignored, but he’s looking at himself as the New Hun Spokesman.

so happy our club is run in no way like that mobs used to be run, nor are we ever likely to be represented by such thuggish idiots.

Does anyone know the ins and outs of the Fleck move ,I heard on the news that Naiybalance had joined Everton and that Coventry had come to an agreement with ragers for Fleck .

Could it be that Fleck was not owned by ragers fc but a third party ,ie the four businessmen that minty sold the rights of the murky park conveyor belt to

Well, apart from the weather, it’s been a very pleasant day. Now for a nice white Burgundy and a packet of Pom Bears…

  25. think that the sfl clubs will follow the spl clubs and send them to the third division which is the best they should hope for.

p.s. the JT is funny, rangers fans will all go along to games and when this is done they’ll have saved lots of money to spend on their return to the spl or maybe just maybe 44000 people will not go along to watch them in the third division and maybe just maybe greeny and co will, like most business men, give themselves good wages maybe a mill or so a year.

    keep dreaming JT

  26. RC tonight was disgraceful.

Giving Brown a platform to spew his bile and hate. He sums up what a hun is.

Keevins a craven coward for not challenging anything he said.

The callers were all hand picked Brownites, real lowlife.

Dalziel a clown worthy of place in Barnum’s circus.

What does it take for people in the media to stop using the phrase ‘drop down a division’? Are they all truly thick as mince? These people are meant to be educated to some degree. Do they not understand the concept of what newly formed club is?
