Brutal consequence sets stage for Giakoumakis

260

The consequences of a brutal Scottish Cup tie at Alloa, permitted by the kind of soft touch refereeing that would see official intervention during martial arts bouts, has left us without our captain for an undetermined period of time.  Callum McGregor’s facial injury was the most severe consequence, if not the most dangerous challenge.

We are likely to head to Tynecastle with Reo Hatate, who has played only 75 minutes for Celtic, and Matt O’Riley, whose entire experience is limited to a year in the English third tier, in central midfield, backed by Nir Bitton.

Should we get through this game unscathed, the experience will do us well as the same players are likely to be required when Dundee United and Newco visit next week.  You would be forgiven for thinking these games will go a long way to determining the outcome of the season.

Saturday offered little encouragement bar the opening goal, converted by Giorgos Giakoumakis, his second for the club.  Without Kyogo, Maeda and fourth choice striker, Ajeti, Giorgos has the stage to himself.  He has started three games since joining from Venlo in the summer.  This period could be the making of him.

  1. re Broadfoot.

I have listened to this guy often enough to wonder other than his prounciation and put on posh voice, what qualified him to do what he did.

How does a journo become communications director at the SFA ?

He talks shite by the way.

  2. PHCS

McCoist wasn’t having Clancy’s decision to send Kent off for a pair of soft fouls and lightheartedly claimed the whistler and Brown were in cahoots.

“It was that obvious the two of them were doing the Gay Gordons, skipping off that park, the referee and Broony.

So there we have it..That Scot Brown should have made sure that Kent never fouled him and should have begged the referee to keep him on the park, he’s a very naughty boy !

  3. As Kent strarts to walk off Broony is not even looking at him and is instead organising his team mates.

When Kent gets just past Brown he says something, which is when Brown gave him the off you go and wave gestures.

As someone used to say “he brought it on himself”.

As our Scott grew up, he has become a master of self control, how often he could react in kind but didnt.

Still living rent free in their heads.

Alex EBT Rae at it an awe,

  4. Lightheartedly claimed !!…oh so thats awe right then to “lightheartedly “claim !

What is the difference of “to claim ” or to “lightheartedly claim”! 😂

  5. If its true what we’re hearing and Clancy has joined Collum on the Sevco naughty step then this is surely a positive thing? All our Board need to do now is send an email to Hamden and politely request that we no longer are subjected to referees from the reformed faith. That takes out at a stroke Madden, Beaton, Dallas, McLean – in fact practically everybody.

The SFA will only then need to put in a wee call to the Luxembourg FA and our games can be refereed professionally and fairly. Works for me!

  6. Just to be clear, I am not totally writing Gaiko off – I would love it if he “came good’ – we need the option of a physical presence up front…..but having played & watched football for almost all my life, I get a ‘feel’ about players – I guess most of us do. I’m sorry, I just don’t see enough in his make-up to convince me. How he was top-scorer in Holland and why we got him for a reported £2.5m, puzzles me. Felt exactly the same with Ajeti, Bangura….etc etc

  7. There is also the expression “ Your claimed” an expression you probably didn’t want to hear when you were at school !

No wonder there isn’t a single MP, or so called journalist from the 100% fake news swamp on this entire island, who has the balls to face this 👇 man. If he was leader of the Celtic board, instead of the FF/FG mindset Irish Tory arseholes that we have, as well as the useless, “The Herald” columnist, Brian Wilson, and former mass murderer John Reid who made things worse if anything, and got nothing done, then with GG leading the board there wouldn’t have been any govt summit after the Shame Game because Salmond would’ve known that GG would’ve handed him his fat hun arse, and warned the the dim Tims not to vote for a Celtic hating party or their tickets would be deservedly removed, but none of that would or will happen because Tims are dim.

  17. I too have a feeling….

Reminds me of the theme tune from the Trolls movie. One of my favorite films of the last few years with an excellent soundtrack if you’re at all into kids movies, which I’m forced to be these days.

  18. Funny how seeing things through kids eyes changes your perspective. Makes you appreciate things that make you happy in a straightforward way, and opens your eyes to the things and people who take that away from you

  19. Only so many times you can tell a child to stay away from people who go out of their way to make them unhappy before you start realizing the same applies to yourself

Given the Celtic board’s failure to say anything following the death and supposed resurrection of the huns, and their endorsement of the same club narrative, that comment was petty and pathetic and Lawwell was quite rightly mocked for it.

Staying silent about the important stuff yet going out of your way to make a quip about something so insignificant was deserving of ridicule.

And nothing has changed. They’re still staying silent about the things that matter.
