Celtic face higher than body temps in Armenia

288

While the World Cup is a nice summer distraction, the serious business of Champions League qualification gets underway for Celtic one week tomorrow.  Right now, the temperature in Yerevan, Armenia, where we will face Alashkert, is an egg-frying-on-the-patio 38°C.  It’s to be higher-still at 7pm.

Brendan Rodgers may consider it wise to send his players out to pace themselves for the first 89 minutes or so.  Playing in heat warmer than body temperature is not something you can acclimatise to in a few days.   PLayers’ bodies will react in a way they will seldom, if ever, have experienced before.  I would bite your hand off for a draw and no remedial medical attention required.

Best of luck to Dedryck for Belgium’s round of 16 tie against Japan tonight, although I’m beginning to cross-reference World Cup Champions League dates.  You would not bet against Belgium remaining involved until the last weekend.

  1. My friends in Celtic,

Do you think Hibs fans will be pi@ssed off with all the McGinn transfer speculation as we are with the KT speculation.

In fairness if you are building long term it’s smart to have the core from that country so it ticks a lot of boxes. Hibs seem to be wanting to deal rather than loose for free which is only right and I expected nothing less from Lenny . Surely the Hibs fans can accept a decent fee to be reinvested over zilch? They shouldn’t be upset at a young boy getting them a fee and joining the team he loves plus a decent player that wants join coming in.

Total price probably 2 mill with addons?

    Hail Hail

Greenpinata they shouldn’t be . Is it not obvious if you go into your last year you’re gonna leave so be happy with fee.

    Manana amigo.

    Hail Hail

  4. DALLAS DALLAS @ 11:08 PM,

Thanks for getting back, no need to apologise – as I’m often in & oot, I’m the world’s worst.

Interesting that football in Scotland has become a microcosm of the duplicitous and malevolent way official powers manifest themself.

Of course I’m not equating the two acts for one minute yet a willingness to engage in perfidious actions to protect and cover up wrong doing is all too recognisable…

It seems there is something of a Power struggle behind the scenes at Hampden, the club’s (most anyway) want to wrestle power through the SPFL from the not fit for purpose SFA.

    Wish I had faith in…

    A. The right outcome and

    B. A huge improvement

    Not holding my breath…

    Hail Hail

  9. Celtic shouldn’t sign anymore Scottish Players, most of them can’t hack it at our club, for example Hendry,Allan, Christie, etc, haven’t exactly set the heather on fire,so John McGinn good player that he is,but in opinion, not good enough for Celtic.

  10. Happy Hoopy Birthday Jobo, please return to the blog. Us Lanarkshire (not South Lanarkshire…) Bhoys need to make our presence count. From a Busby Bhoy (and definitely not East Renfrewshire on the EK side of the River Cart, where on earth did that come from?).

    Yep,,like BROONY,Armstrong,and if you go back,Joe Miller,Willie Wallace,Brian Mc Clare,Joe Mc Bride,Davey Provan,Andy Walker,Tosh Mc Kinley.Probably more,but you get the point.

Duds signed outside Scotland, the list would be 10 times longer than this one.

Being a bit previous with Hendry. Some kind of chance required,I would have thought.

Really enjoyed your post about the local wildlife in your part of the USA. I was in Sonora for an overnight 6 yeRs ago. Lovely little town. I remember a very attractive clapperboard schoolhouse building of the type you used to see in Westerns. Never got to see if there was an attractive school marm though.

Hope you’ll write more of these posts.
