Celtic fans get stuck into our reason for being, nomad moot

765

Congratulations to The Kano Foundation for their magnificent fifth annual charity dinner on Saturday.  The Kano story is beyond incredible and a credit to those who call ourselves Celtic fans – whether you are involved with them or not.

Well done also to everyone who participated in the Celtic Foundation Zip Slide across Celtic Park on Saturday, in aid of children’s’ charities.  It was exhilarating and is sure to be repeated.  A weekend without Celtic and hundreds of Celtic fans get stuck into our reason for being.

They can blame the last guys for the lack of commercial revenue streams, or for paying incompetent coaches too much money.  They can even blame them for over-ambition when it came to funding the playing squad, but for all of its short corporate life, Rangers International PLC’s previous board members have been able to produce accounts on time and all received approval from authorised nominated advisers.

If the new board members are unable to deliver a nominated adviser, blaming the old board, as one newspaper tried today: “largely because of the scorched earth policy implemented by the previous board in the last days of the Mike Ashley empire – they must do so before the City shuts down for the Easter holiday”, would be both dishonest and a very worrying (for some) departure from a company which seeks to build its corporate reputation.

This entire question should be moot.  Mike Ashely didn’t need to be on the newco board to exert the control he needed with an 8% share and neither would Dave King.  King could easily take a back seat and appoint trusted men of stature who would breeze the nomad requirements.  We can only speculate as to why King NEEDS to be on the board, and don’t count on anyone who can get close enough to King, or his PR, asking this question.  The entire uncertainty is an unnecessary nonsense.

  1. Stan and Stefan, thanks for that, brilliant illustration of why I am allways right and there intellectual pygmies are hopeless.

  2. clashcitybhoy-i agree that getting bhoys out on loan can be a good thing, but Henderson has worked his way back to the first team squad.I don’t think the timing is right, due to reasons I posted. He is needed now IMO.HH

I don’t see Liam playing every week with Commons, Johansen, GMS, Armstrong, Stokes all ahead of him. Then there’s Wakaso and McGregor who could come in but behind Hendrson the way things look.

The Johansen, Armstrong and Commons competition is fierce. Liam can only start on the left or right of 3 behind the striker but GMS and Stokes are ahead.

Liam is not a holding midfielder, we need holding player cover which has been obvious since Wanyama left.

I’d let Liam go as an 18 year old and see what he can do with a regular place.

Ronny has had time to asess our development squad and the non first team regulars. I expect a restructure of the development squad with some sort of use of loan systems to help the ones with a chance.

  8. WC-As the Mullet says, we have a lot of MFs, but I think Henderson is the best option if Brown or Bitton aren’t playing. HH

It probably depends on where you see Liam’s ultimate position.

I see him as a Paul McStay creative box to box midfielder, and in our current set up, I see his long term position as one of the two in a 4231.

Although he has done well in the left of the 3, I don’t see that as his best position.

He has too much energy and (positive) aggression to offer in other positions

I’d be interested in where other posters see his long term position

Many happy returns. Enjoy Dortmund. Been there three times. Fine City full of friendly locals who want to talk when they see your hoops shirt.

  11. Watched the Paul Canoville documentary on Sky, a real eye opener.Does anyone know the Chelsea player, who racially abused him?

Ronny thinking of Champions League Qualifiers. I am sure he wants to avoid another nightmare/ humiliation.

    Henderson will be well prepared.

I see Liam as the middle of the 3 man in future. I would like him to go to Norway on loan if he gets 90 mins each week.

  16. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

The difference between Henderson and the other midfielders that Mullet mentioned, is that Liam is only 18 years old and looks and built like a 16 year old.

    Victor, he aint.

I am all for lads, who look as if they can make the step up, going out on loan to good clubs where they will get a run of games, gain experience and confidence.

Call it a Work Placement and I would incorporate it into their contracts.

Under previous regimes, loans were a halfway house to leaving the club, but I believe that Ronny will use them to bring young players up to first team status.

What stands out about the DUtd. recruits is their first team experience, gained over the last two or three seasons, due to financial restrictions at their former club.

We cannot entrust a prolonged run in our team ,due to expectations and the pressure of playing for Celtic.

  17. IF Ronny thinks Henderson goung on loan is a good thing…i go with that…RC..(Ronny Convert)…

One asked me to be his best man when we were 18. I accepted as he was a non bigoted bluenose I thought. I was wrong. Don’t speak to him now.

  19. Henderson has a most unlike footballer physique. Weird runner, weird trainer.

No he is not.You are getting a wee bit worked up,my Amigo. We have tons of cover for the midfield. The boy will flourish with more games under his belt.He is well down the pecking order, and it must be RD sees things we dont in training.Trust RD.Henderson will be a star for us.
