CELTIC are stepping up their search for Joe Hart’s successor and have been linked with Dutch keeper Etienne Vaessen.

The 28-year-old netminder is coming out of contract and will be leaving relegation-threatened Eredivisie outfit RKC Waalwijk in the summer.

The champions have already made a “concrete offer” for Vaessen, according to Dutch media outlet Brabants Dagblad.

PSV Eindhoven are also monitoring the shotstopper’s situation with Vaessen poised to quit his only senior club in June.

Hart, who will celebrate his 37th birthday next month, has been the Hoops’ regular No.1 since sealing his £1million switch from Spurs in August 2021, but has revealed plans to retire at the end of the campaign.

Scott Bain has been the 75 times-capped England international’s back-up for the past three years and the former Dundee keeper has a deal at Parkhead that runs until the summer of 2026.

Swiss last line of defence Benji Siegrist signed a four-year contract when he joined on a free from Dundee United in June 2022.
