CELTIC ‘TARGET’ IN DEMAND

CELTIC ‘target’ Oscar Gloukh is in demand with French giants Olympique Marseille eyeing the Israeli wonderkid.

The 18-year-old midfielder has attracted Europe-wide attention with his displays for Maccabi Tel Aviv where he is a team-mate of former Hoops favourite Nir Bitton who joined the club in the summer.

Gloukh, who is under contract until June 2024, has reportedly been watched by Parkhead scouts and boss Ange Postecoglou admitted the club had “started planning and have identified the targets we need,” as CQNreported.

However, Ligue 1 Marseille, who are second top of the table only two points behind Paris Saint-Germain after eight games, are thinking along similar lines with some of their top players in the shop window during the World Cup Finals in Qatar in November and December.

Good performances from individuals could trigger feverish transfer activity in the January transfer window and the Hoops could also be involved with players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda (Japan), Cameron Carter-Vickers (USA), Josip Juranovic (Croatia) and Aaron Mooy (Australia) on show during football’s biggest extravaganza.

Marseille, who knocked back the bid to sign Olivier Ntcham on a permanent basis after the Hoops midfielder flopped on a loan stint in the second half of 2020/21, were linked with Maccabi’s exciting attacking talent in the summer and a video has already appeared on YouTube highlighting the qualities of Gloukh.

Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg have also been associated with the teen ace in the past.

Boss Postecoglou has brought in over 20 players in his recruitment drive in three transfer windows and he could be set for another busy four weeks after the turn of the year.
