  1. Excellent result today – very important to get back into the habit of winning games after the Inter game. Next Sunday will be harder work – especially after Thursday.

  2. Did Kojo just say Broonie was immense today? Can’t argue with that. Very good team performance all round despite the midweek exertions and the line-up changes. Hamilton were worn down with constant movement and tidy passing. A joy to watch.

Well done Ronny and the Bhoys

Don’t think the ref was looking to do Spurs a favour today.

He could easily have given Noble of West Ham a second yellow, but didn’t.

Stupid grab by Song on Kane, as there were plenty defenders around.

  4. Great result. Glad the manager made the changes. It’s got to be the old “horses for courses”, one of Mr Stein’s mantras.

I am beginning to think we might even get a result in Milan.

  5. Very fit team. Craig Gordon in danger of hypothermia.Hamilton offered zilch beyond agricultural effort.Onwards and upwards.

    Vidic ? No comment .

The defence ?- Working hard every day. Need to concentrate / need to stop leaving it to each other / need to toughen up / know that they defended too deep in Glasgow..

Kovacic – Yes – a great player but I am the Manager . I decide who plays / where /when.Inter can’ t revolve around him .Needs time to develop a tactical maturity. He needs time to understand tactical situations. If he does – the future will be based on him.

Priority is a win at Cagliari tomorrow night . Will think about Celtic after the Cagliari game..

you definitely can see the improvement in the players fitness level from last year … this team is full of running, for 90 minutes.

Back to the earlier discussion … think JF might have benefited more today from coming off the bench, and having a bit of a run when the other team is tiring and there is more space for him to run into.

  8. Good result today in poor conditions, some great interplay in the second half, best put down of the season from Tom Boyd on CTV, lesser opposition indeed!

Incidentally, did anyone read that report on BBC saying that the ‘Three Bears’ want the Sevco finance director removed from the board for bringing the club into disrepute? When was the last time they were anywhere else but in disrepute, keep the comedy coming bears.

  9. Another great result for Ronny and the bhoys, this was tircky after the exertions of Thursday night, goals shared throughout the team, well done to them all, good rest then down to Milan, where I hope we do ourselves justice, I think it will be another high scoring match if we can get two ahead I think we are good enough and will go through

  12. In the Kerrydale trying to thaw out. Good win and performance 2nd half, especially after the exertions of Thu night. Nice to meet serial lurker John Lochrie (sp? ) at half time. Get posting John – as CSI he told me.

Enjoyable game, very good performance, great result, Broonie immense. We need to hold onto Johansen and Bitton, new contracts now Peter.

A potentially tricky hurdle cleared today.

A risk of post Inter reaction and fatigue.

However, team changes from Thursday added a bit of freshness, with ?Forrest, Commons, Guidetti and Efe eager to do well and stake a claim for a first team place.

A frustrating first half, where we worked hard for scant reward, led to a second half of bountiful reward, against a team who were dizzy from the pressure they were put under.

Armstrong’s introduction gave an added boost for the closing quarter of the game.

No player performed less thsn good, but, once again, the springboard was our incredible fitness and quick movement, on and off the ball.

By this time next week, we should have come to the end of a hectic month.

    Well done all.

  15. Tontine Tim

If LVG is struggling this year, with only the league to concentrate on, a nice week’s rest between games, he’ll be looking to spend much more next season, if they get to the CL that is.

    im feeling confident about thursday

i think we will score a goal or 2 and i dont think inter are capable of playing a typical italian way by stifling the game

so looks like it could be a shoot out to see who scores the most as i cant see us keeping a clean sheet either so could be very similar to thursdays game

    then bring on the sheep

    life’s good at the moment

We are getting better by the week. When things aren’t happening on the goal front we step up a gear and bring on the subs. We attack incessantly from all angles. The ball never stops moving, nor do the players. Everyone wants the ball. We have an amazing engine room in Brown and Bitton. Once we refine one or two players like Johansen and Matthews, find a real leader of the front line, we’ll be amazing.

Gordon – Had time to get a new haircut whilst the game went on. ?/10

Efe – Great play first half at right back 8/10 2 brain freezes at CB but the rest solid 2nd half 6/10. Overall 7/10 (Efe’s team-mates, please don’t leave him with the ball for more than 10 secs and several options. This is when he has his brain freeze)

VVD – 9. Great in defence and great going forward (after spending a few weeks taking it easy). Hope he sticks the Italian press’ comments down their throats on Thursday.

Izzy – Izzy, nevers stops. He’s sometimes a bit TOO total football (playing crazy passes out of defence). He makes so much happen for us, creating space for others, linking, not to mention the fantastic cross for Guidetti’s goal.

Denayer – Solid. I hope he’s okay fro Thursday 7/10

Matthews – Coming into form again. Passing getting better by the game. The set up play for the 4th goal was fantastic. Just needs to improve defensively against better teams. 8/10

Brown – Immense. Leader. Passing was superb (apart from 2 stray passes). Defensively he was a rock. 9/10

Bitton – Along with Brown they are getting better each game. They seem to know where each other is without looking up! Very impressed with his progress. Get him on a longer contract now! 9/10

Forrest – Still off the pace although that’s normal due to the number of games he’s played. Needs to take on more responsibility and work harder. A couple of moments of class. 6/10

Johansen – Incredible engine and enthusiasm. A times he really frustrates me with his poor passing and decision making. But he keeps going, and going, and going…and he also does so much well when he plays. He creates so much havoc and space for others. I am really looking forward to seeing him develop. 7.5/10

Armstrong – Really looks the part. His movement, passing and reading of the game are most impressive for someone of his age. 8/10

Commons – Does what it says on the tin. Goals. Not his best game but always dangerous. Seems to be getting fitter and fitter and it’s starting to benefit his game. 8/10

Guidetti – Keen, aggressive but ponderous. Lacks that burst of speed that someone like Hooper has when there is a sniff of a goal. I think his time out of the game has affected him more than most would have thought. He’s gallus and skilful but needs more games to prove that he is the player he was before his illness. 7/10

Ronny, JC, JK and team – 10/10

Hypothermia was a real possibility in Parkhead by the time game was over it was to Celtic’s credit they played through the storm.

In the end a thoroughly professional win after a dramatic full house on Thursday the Hamilton bus was eventually breached.

It took until the second half for Commons to find his range but find it he did, in a game that was about when, not if. Hamilton offered no threat at any time, and our defence was never troubled.

Former Celt Michael McGovern in goal kept the score down, as Celtic laid siege in the second half where Armstrong, Matthews, and Henderson all joined in, from the bench.

Scott Brown was a stand out, in the first of a sequence of home league games that could give a big hint to where the SPL flag will fly.

If RD is going to use James Forrest it has to be in his natural position the wide left experiment is doing the illusive wing man no favours.

There’s a big difference between ILLUSIVE and ELUSIVE.

  23. EVERYONE at Celtic is deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden death of one of our colleagues, Andy McCann, who passed away early this morning at the age of 77.

Andy, who was part of the groundstaff at Celtic Park for nearly 37 years, having started back in June 1978, was a very popular figure with players, management and staff throughout his time at the club.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “Celtic has had many great servants during its history and Andy is one of these people.

“To be part of Celtic for nearly four decades shows the love he had for the club and we will always be grateful for all he did.

“He was always a man of great popularity and warmth and he will be hugely missed by us all and, of course, his family.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to Andy’s family, his children, Edith, Andrew and Jacqui, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Graham and Jamie. They are very much in our thoughts and prayers.”

  24. 2 Things :

    1) we’re going to beat an spfl team 9 or 10 nil, one of these days… soon

    2) Scott Brown…. tremendous

  25. 52 League goals in total – 19 different scorers – Stokes & Guidetti top with 7 each, then Kris with 6 and Steffi 5.

  26. Inter.

Media claiming that Handanovic still has the injury which prevented him from playing in Glasgow and will not play v Cagliari .He is reported as being doubtful for Thursday . Carizzo will continue in goals. Inter fans tend to think that Carizzo is jittery and prone to making mistakes. Ideal goalie for a jittery / error prone defence.

Nice wee tourism thing on cooncil tele re visiting Glasgow and what to do when you are there. Fair warmed my cockles.!

  27. Well done to the bhoys today – with everton and spurs having draws after their euro games – we did well to avoid the thursday hangover.

Having virgin installed on wednesday ( which includes bt sport) just in time for thursday.

  28. Poor first half which could have been expected after Thursday’s exertions. Much better in the second with some good link up play particularly in the channels.

Commons’ goal meant they had to come out a bit more and a clinical last half hour saw the Celts through.

I’d have taken 1-0 so delighted with today.
